Works well, easy install, but noisy
The Moen food waste disposal is a high-quality product that works well at grinding food scraps for flushing down the pipes in the kitchen. It has a 1-HP motor, stainless steel collar, and easy-connect mount.
I installed mine in the island at the prep sink. This unit had plenty of power to handle all the scraps from kitchen food preparation for various meals. The rubber splash guard mounts in the top of the collar, which makes it easy to replace if needed. Most disposers have the splash guard

under the collar where it cannot easily be replaced.
Be sure to have fresh Plumbers Putty, if you plan to replace the mounting assembly. I replaced an In-Sink-Erator disposer so I could have used the original sink assembly. But because the name was stamped into the collar, I decided to replace the assembly. (Plus it was old and I wanted to have everything new!)
The original pipes connected to the new tailpiece just fine, and the integrated power cord reached to the under-sink outlet. I had to rotate the disposer to get the tailpiece to fit (similar to the old disposer), which made the reset button sit to the side. The reset button is embedded in the casing at the front, lower part of the disposer. You will need a long thin pencil or screwdriver to push it.
While the operation of the disposer was fairly quiet under the sink, a lot of noise came from the top of the disposer when it was operating, even when water was flowing. I compared it to a 3/4 HP unit I have in my main kitchen sink, and it was noticeable. That was a bit of a disappointment.
Installation overall was easy; the directions were great. The unit has a 10-year warranty, one of the best on the market. And they have in-home service.
Overall, a top-of-the-line model that is easy to install, includes most all parts, and has to power to handle your tough kitchen cleanups. But the noise levels are not as expected.
