The installation was moderately easy (I did it with help from my brother) once we figured out how to do the corners. These weren't difficult but they do take some effort to get right. We did use rivets in places to hold the guard in place (corners and short pieces) if we thought that it might shift. We used fewer than 100 rivets over a 300 foot installation. These may not have been necessary but I wasn't willing to go back up later. Also to note, we ended up with very little scrap because we were careful.
Lastly, the only tools we needed were a ladder, tin snips, a jig saw with metal cutting blade, tape measure, drill and rivet gun and rivets, permanent marker, safety glasses, and really tough gloves. You might need additional tools and safety equipment depending on your installation
I am very pleased with this product.
