    pet door
we have had the smaller version of this door and it worked great. I will be replacing the small door with this one, we inherited a large dog. If big brother works as well as the small one, then great, no worries.

This door is exactly the right size for my over sized dog.

    Excellent Product
We bought two of these for our big dogs. Easy to install, took less than an hour for both of them. Dogs go in and out of them just like they have always been there. Lookout feature is great to prevent them from going out or in. I am thrilled with them and the price was good.

Good door but some improvements needed
This product is the best one for larger dogs. There are a few areas of improvement for this product. One is that the foam tape that is provided does not sufficiently create a seal between inside and outside. Also after a few weeks of use the flap becomes warped and let's outside air in. If you live in a temperate climate that wouldn't be a problem. However, if you live in the desert like me both of these flaws lets heat in.

Great door - easy to install.
The door is perfect for a manufactured home that has door frames slightly smaller than stick-built homes. The only drawback is the size of the opening. It is much larger than our other doggie door and our dog isn't thrilled about using it. He is slowly getting used to it. There needs to be a third size - in between the one that was too small for my dog and the one I bought.

    Perfect Doggy Door For Fatties
We did not want to be making any holes in walls or doors. We use a doggy screen door on our sliders in the summer so we thought this would be perfect. We have a tall doggy, a teensy doggy and a chubster pig. All three have no trouble using the door except the rise is a little high for the piggy, though he manages it. There is a little air seepage but not bad and we can probable plug that up. We had a carpenter friend install the door and he said it was no problem. We will also be able to open it ... read more in the summer to use the doggy screen door again. This door was a bit more expensive than others I looked at, but for us, it was worth it to get the extra wide opening. 4 paws up!

Both Dog and I Love This Door
This door works great. Our dog had no trouble using it. We use it to enable him to go outside whenever he wants but keep our cat safe inside. It leaves only a small amount of room for people to go in and out but overall this is a great product and solved a dual pet problem in our hoime.

This door is top quality, problem free.
I bought this door for a very busy dog that goes in and out all day. It is of execellent quality, sturdy and easy to use. The collar transmitter is very sensitive and works very well. I no longer have to watch the clock and rush home to let the dog out, she can go in and out as she pleases. This door was worth every penny.

    Fixed the problem
While expensive, it has fixed our problems. Cats are securely inside, dog can come and go as she pleases, and the house is much warmer than the other door we had installed. My only complaint is the box came open in the mail and we still have not received the missing parts.

My dogs and I all love it!!!
I've had the pet door for years and it was time to replace it. Being in the sun, rain, sprinklers, and other elements all took a toll on the original door - it was literally falling apart. But what do you expect from a door seeing daily heavy use from two dogs plus their "guests", for nine years. The only problem with installing the new one was the inability to be outside and inside at the same time to hold the two pieces together so the screws can be installed. Good old duct tape solved that ... read more problem. This is a great door for the price and easy to train pets to use it.

Great product at a decent price
I have a 90 pound german shepherd and opening and closing the patio door was proving to be challenging with my schedule. I installed this on an aluminum door with cardboard filling was not easy. Luckily, the trim is very forgiving for this door and the install looks and functions great. My shepherd hasn't damaged the door trim yet, but it seems to be flimsy plastic so hopefully it will hold up. I would have liked a feature to where the plastic door to close it could be attached somewhere but it ... read more still gets the job done great. Highly recommended!

Easy and great for my pet!
My dog is older and although he is not huge (60 lb boxer), I was worried about getting him to squeeze through the smaller sized door. He can easily walk through this and has proved that you can teach an old dog new tricks!

    magnet does not hold tight
This is my 2nd purchase of dog doors from home depot. I was very happy with my first ones ( same brand ) so I bought again just different model. The magnet closure does not keep flap as tight as my previous one did. Other then that I am happy

    WOW
This Ideal pet door was unbelievably easy to install. I also have a Pet Safe door which was a little harder to install but am very happy with it too. Ideal door you just cut the hole by using the plastic cover as a template. The frame just fits together with the screws and wa-la...your done. I found the height of the template to be a little bigger than the hole can be, but it still works. I have a panel door, so I squeezed some caulk into the gaps of the door, using painters tape on the panel ... read more door and the pet door. All I need to do is paint the whole door and pet door. This pet door is between my kitchen and laundry room. I have the Pet safe door going from laundry room to the outside. This helps when temperatures are either very hot or very cold. The laundry room acts like a buffer between the outside and inside my house.

East to install and value for money
I bought this pet door for my french door in 1992. To say I am amazed at how long this has lasted is an understatement. Finally the flap needs replacing and I have decided to buy this product again rather than opt to order a replacement flap which is available. Purely for asthetic reasons (my french door is white and the pet door bought in 1992 is grey). It is very easy to install and in my opinion this product is 'ideal' and frankly great value for money. I would highly recommend this product, ... read more it is basic and serves the purpose required.

    Simple Well-Made Pet Door
I considered various models with electronic covers activated by microchips, but made a fast retreat after reading a high percentage of unsatisfactory customer reviews complaining about electric and mechanical defects. I decided on a model from this maker with an insulated hinged cover, but I discovered the weight of the cover and amount of force required is probably too much for a dog weighing less than 15 lbs. I exchanged the heavy duty model for this, the simplest version. My dog is not ... read more exactly in Lassie's intelligence class, but he figured it out in about a week and now happily goes in and out at will. Mission accomplished.

    Easy to install and remove
Only took 10 min to install and most of that was trying to find the best place for the latch, which isn't really needed but does make it a little more secure especially if the top of the door isn't fitted into a track. Now it's 10 seconds to remove or reinstall. Looks good and sturdy construction. It would be nice if the lower edges of the dog port was padded since my old dog bangs her knees and feet on it and I did duct tap some foam padding there that helped her. Also, on my installation where ... read more the height of the door is adjustable, there is a 2 inch gap near the top where the weather stripping doesn't have any surface to adhere to, they could provide something to fill that space. I think it is a good value product and I would buy it again.

    Good product, PLUS!
Unit arrived in good condition. Super easy installation. Clever design. No holes to drill.(we rent) I was impressed. Bought for our dog in mind, and he took to it immediately. As a bonus our cat not only uses it but WE NO LONGER REQUIRE A CAT BOX!!!! He just quit using it and goes outside. Quite unexpected.=) Great value. -Shay

    It is fantastic
I love this door. the most difficult part of the installation was getting the staples out of the box to open it. Once unwrapped I just picked it up and put it in the door. Instant success and I am 5 feet tall 65 years old. It is quite sturdy and lots of room for my standard poodle to come and go thru her new door. she is enjoying the freedom. My cats do not go out it which is a good thing. the magnet closure is strong. One of the best purchases I have ever made.

Great door for Lanai in Florida
Great product, just don't understand why they didn't make it to fit a 2"x2" piece of aluminum for porch or lanai? The product only extends to fit a door 1" and 3/4". I could only attach the front side of the door to the 2" piece of aluminum, it did work out ok though.

Keeps cats in - raccoons out!
I had a problem with raccoons coming into my garage and house through the cat door and eating up all the cats' food; also with my cats relieving themselves indoors. I tried a door with a lockable flap, but the raccoons broke through it. This door has a panel that can be slid into place on the inside to prevent any unwanted visitors. I have one in an exterior garage door and one in the door between the garage and the house so the cats always have access to food, water and litter box, but I can ... read more keep them out of the house when I'm not home during the day and can keep unwanted visitors out of the garage at night. Not available at my local store, so I found it online and installed it in half an hour. Slightly more expensive than I'd hoped - but isn't everything these days?
