    Tons of light
The light tube works wonderfully. It brings in an amazing amount of light and it looks pretty good. It is made of very light weight materials and will not put up with a great deal of abuse but once installed that should not be an issue. Installation is not for the meek. You have to be able to crawl around in the attic, cut an opening in the roof and manipulate the tube into place. I have a background in construction and it was not an easy task but it is possible for a skilled amateur with the ... read more proper tools, patience and time. If you are not sure of your abilities have someone else do the job. I have two installed already and I am planning on putting in a third. The smallest tube is installed in an interior bathroom and people are always trying to 'turn off the light', the thing is so bright. Well worth the expense to get a few.

    Very good value
We purchased this model as it was a match to one we bought several years ago. Completeness of the install kit was excellent. This purchase was part of a bathroom upgrade which was to have an illuminated space during the day. Need to pay attention to the finial fit up at the lower ceiling trim ring and light diffuser before it all locks in place. Might be a challenge for a novice but with some experience it is an afternoon project. Since this was my second install of this type I knew what to ... read more expect and how to stay out of trouble. Make sure you pick a day that doesn't have rain or snow in the forecast.

    Better than expected
The project started with measuring and not being able to install a skylight. I read the instructions several times. The only person who could help me due to my schedule was my wife who fetched tools and materials for me. I installed two light tunnels in four hours. Remember that the height measurement includes about six inches for the space above the roof. the distance from the bottom of roof to the bottom of the ceiling needs to be less than 42 inches unless you purchase the extension tube.

    WOW!
My wife and I wanted to add skylights because our kitchen was too dark but we did not want another round of messy construction. We saw a do-it-yourself show that had sun tunnels as an alternative so we decided to take the chance. We thought the before and after pictures were just photoshopped. Wow, were we wrong. We are so pleasantly surprised with the amount of light that the sun tunnel lets into our once dark kitchen. I would definitely recommend sun tunnels to anyone. We want to add they to ... read more other areas in the house. They make a very dramatic difference and they are not hard to install. Highly recommended!

VERY nice product and lets in LOTS of light!
This is the FOURTH skylight of this brand, size and style I have in my home and garage, lets in lots of light and fairly straight forward install. The flashing on this particular model is what I really like best, it sits high above the shingles but pleasing to the eye, well constructed of metal and powder coated..... Over the past few years the interior trim kit has improved too, more attractive and durable. The only thing I did NOT like was the shipping! Home Depot would not allow it to be ... read more shipped to the store for free pick-up and I thought $55 was too much for shipping.....I bit the bullet and paid it......

Customer service is bad, but good product
I had to install these in an area with a vaulted ceiling which left only about 2 feet of space from roof to ceiling. I contacted customer support 4 or 5 times and got just as many answers telling me what the minimum space for installation was. We ended up not using the bottom joint and got them installed but it was tricky. I was also agonizing between these and the Solatube brand skylights and ended up choosing these because of the price. I'm satisfied with the result, though now that I see ... read more them I expect the Solatube may have brought in a bit more light. Pros: Decent materials, and they look great once finished. Cons: The diffusers make the light seem to be closer to the color of a fluorescent bulb, rather than a warm yellow.

    Great Solar Tube
I'm 76 years old and it took about three hours to install. I watched the video on installation and it was very easy. I received it in four days after I placed my order and am pleased that I ordered this model.

    Brighter Kitchen
I have installed it myself week ago. Very happy I did it. It gives a lot of light in my kitchen, especially in sunny day. Good product, easy installation for person who knows how to use measure tape, sawzall, screwdriver, and sealant gun.

Blown away by how much light this skylight brings in!
We had to take out bathroom window for new shower when we remodeled our bathroom and was absolutely blown away by how much light this skylight brings in. Lighting we installed above vanity does a great job, but when lights were off the room was a dark cave. Now when I walk past the bathroom I find myself checking the light switch thinking I left it on because how bright the room is now. Even on a clear night there is noticeable light from the moon and stars being pulled in. Well worth the money!

Tube Skylights - The Way to Go for DIYers
This "skylight" is the 5th we've installed ourselves. We installed the 10" "tubes" in a bathroom, hallway, and two in our small living room. We decided to go with the 14" tube to "spread the light" to a larger area and hopefully postpone the desire for more of these "wonderous" little "free" light creators. So we placed it just in the kitchen area so it throws light on both our kitchen sink cabinet area and our adjoining dining area. At midday, I keep thinking I need to turn off the light. It ... read more creates quite a bit of ambient lighting - certainly makes it possible to do a majority of tasks without turning on the electrical bulbs. The light is a bit "bluish", but I have "daylight" CFLs through-out the house, so, I'm used to it. Installation was fairly simple, although time consuming - but the learning curve was already there. More time is spent, I think, actually in the attic trying to maximize the location when realizing that a 2x6 runs exactly where you initially wanted to install. Definitely worth the money - and with the 2009 tax incentives - bonus! It would be nice if ODL (and Home Depot) stocked accessories - like different light diffusers/face plates, solar powered "in-tube" lighting for evening use, etc.

    Great Skylights
I have 2 of these installed in my new remodeled kitchen. You will probalby need the extension tube, so pick one up. I also have the Light kits, so at night you still have light. My lights are on a dimmer. I plan to buy 4 more for a future addition. I am in Florida and these meet Maimi Dade wind codes, 140 mph. These are a great price and very nice looking.

    Great Product
Easy installation. Took longer to get things set up than it did to actually install. It made a huge difference in my kitchen.

    Not what I expected.
I put this up in a large road that has minimal light from window. It has the appercence of a small very bright light fixture. Almost floricent with the dome defuser. It does light the room well but not very eligently. Worst yet I have a valted ceiling and it shines more direct at you. It does not give the impression of natural light. I tried this item for it being a less expensive, storm rated easy to install skylite . I may go and get a real stylite and use this in a different room in my home. ... read more The item is well made and installation was not over difficult. The double sided tape in the kit did not work very well.

    Let there be light
I installed three of these. These were the perfect solution to a dim hallway and kitchen. Impressive light delivery even catches nighttime glow from streetlight. I keep looking over my shoulder to see the lights were left on... Installation can be a challenge around pipes, electrical, joists and rafters but it is worth it. The manufacturer in Phx AZ sells more tubes and elbows if needed @ 25.00 ea. Customer service is good.

It really brightens up a room.
I hired a professional roofer to install the Skylight Tube. It was perfect. Added much light to a dark living area in my home. The ease of installation for the roofer was amazing and even the roofer was impressed. This is a very neat and clean product.

    Lots of Light
I have the 14" model and can't believe the light it puts out. My install went terrible. Everytime I went to adjust the elbows on it, it fell apart. The extention left gaps if I would have done it thier way. Directions were rotten. Don't give you enough tape for all the seams. If you were going straight up, I think this thing would be a piece of cake to install, just buy extra tape.

    Payoff
I was having the roof done so I decide to add this gadget to the kitchen for more light. The installation is pretty easy, but the expense was great, I needed three 20" extension tubes due to cathedral ceilings, I don't know why the extension are so expensive but in total they were half the cost of the skylight itself. My wife is pretty happy with the amount of light that is coming in. My only advise is to count the cost before buy it. for me it came out to about four hundred and thirty bucks and ... read more I don't know when this light will pay for itself.

    GREAT product
I put one of these in the master bath during a remodel. Looks and works just GREAT! Put another in the second bath during that remodel. Like these so much, I'm putting a 14" in the kitchen next. A+++

    aluminum
Glad to see there is an aluminum option now, instead of just the asphalt flashing. Compared to other tubular skylights, this one is cost-effective. I've had the 10-inch asphalt version on my roof for about 4 years, and there hasn't been a problem. The aluminum should last longer in the hot sun.

    What a difference!
Our guest bathroom was a dark affair, but no more. This skylight illuminates it in a wonderful way, and it's very attractive. I did not bother trying to install myself (cutting holes in roofs is not my idea of a good time) but rather paid a pro about the equivalent of the cost of the tube to do it right. I'm glad I did. It took he and a helper only two hours to do the whole job. Highly recommended product! One note: I guarantee for the first few days you will find yourself saying, 'Hey, who left ... read more the light on in there!?"
