The real maestro in switching
This switch is easy to install and functionality is great. Don't get confused by the claim that you can mix these with the mechanical companion switch. You can only mix a mechanical switch in a 3 way application. Beyond this, you have to use the digital companion dimmers for anything more than a 3 way...I found this out the hard way, after spending a whole day trying to make a mechanical switch works in a 4 way application. digital companion switches anyway as the mechanical switches throws some boredom into a maestro perfect orchestra. My hope is that they last a few years, given the complex tech.
I used the RF dimmer in a new TV room that has a three-way switch. After I installed the RF dimmer I realized that I needed the companion switch due to the three way configuration. It works like a champ!! I'm very pleased with the convience and operation.
Maestro - in 4-way switch configuration
We have two sets lights that are controlled by the Maestro pair we bought together at Home Depot. These are both configured in a 4-way configuration (so three switches) to control overhead can lighting. We used a normal ON-OFF (non-Maestro) switch as our third switch and discovered it shut-down the Maestro switches - turning off the non Maestro switch meant we could not turn on the lights using either of the Maestro switches until the non-Maestro was turned back on.

the issue. We replaced the non-Maestro ON-OFF switch with the companion Maestro and now we can completely control the lights from any one of the three locations.
BOTTOM LINE: You have to use a companion switch with the Maestro Master. Great Product. We love how it dims and illuminates progresveily, not just instant on- off.
