    Smoke alarms hardwired
Our alarms were almost 16 years old and 1 bit the dust so we thought we should replace them all. We used these (5 total 2 carbon 3 smoke) and so far we have not had any issues with them. They were all very easy to replace. Hopefully these will last a long time. We did need to do some searching to find information that shows which models are compatible with other models (co 2 compatible with smoke detectors). Our old ones would go off in the middle of the night for no reason (other than to wake ... read more us) so far we have not had that happen with the new set we purchased.

    Solid replacement for outdated detector
The original model detectors in my home were discontinued and unavailable for replacement, but these were actually an upgrade [photoelectric instead of ionization] for a great price. The same 3 wire system and it was easy to swap out the old connector in about 10 minutes!

    Good product
Bought this photoelectric detector to replace an ionization model in our kitchen. The ionization type was causing lots of false alarms from toasters, ovens, stove usage, etc. Replaced a BRK branded model (parent company to FirstAlert). Hardwired connectors were identical and it interoperates with the other BRKs in our home. New detector's mounting ring was different than existing detector, though. After one and a half months in kitchen, not a single false alarm from burnt toast or dirty oven. Works great.

    Easy to Install
These smoke alarms replaced identical items, so I did not have to reinstall the bases.

    Good value/quality
Picked up one of these today for a bedroom in a small 3 bedroom (occupant sleeps with door closed) ranch house today. It currently accompanies two First Alert units in the beginning/end of the hallway (photoelectric near kitchen/livingroom and ionization at the end towards the 3 rooms). This smoke alarm is just as well built as any comparable First Alert and has a small footprint while being lightweight which makes it a perfect candidate for a ceiling mount unit. The installation was cake, drill ... read more two holes, mount the bracket, and make sure battery is installed and away you go! While being a basic/entry level smoke alarm it has some decent features such as a hush button, a safety tab mechanism that insures the battery is installed (or unit will not lock into bracket), and my personal favorite an led that blinks every 40 seconds to insure the unit is receiving power. At 5 dollars, this is a very solid smoke alarm that just works. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a basic ionization smoke alarm to supplement other units for added safety.

    Size doesn't matter.
The description clearly states "compact design". It works just as well (maybe better) as larger units but requires less space to install. It's a smoke detector, not a manhole cover. I have several of these in my home and have no complaints. They are easy to install and maintain. Battery life has been satisfactory. No surprises.

    works great
For a home that does not have hard wired smoke detectors, this is the very best option for whole house coverage

A great buy for a safer environment. One goes off then they all do

    WIRELESS SMOKE DETECTOR
Easy to install and works great. The fact is wireless makes it great that if one goes off the others go off making the house safer in case of fires.

    Easy to install
I needed to replace a smoke alarm that was randomly going off. The old one was around 10 years old, and just worn out. I purchased this smoke alarm and was able to disconnect the old one and replace it with the new one easily. I have NO experience with smoke detectors, electrical parts, etc, but this was easy enough a novice could do it in under 10 minutes.

    Simple exchange with old devices!
Replaced 6 old devices within 30 minutes due to the provided adapter. I have had to return 2 devices within 2 weeks due to false alarms. Hopefully the problem is solved.

    great tool
20 volt drill is lighter than my 18 volt one and has more power and last longer. Very happy with product and warranty. I recommend this product to anyone who needs portable power.

    Easy installation
I found these very easy to install. I purchased two packs (4 alarms) I managed to install all four in fifteen minutes. Ten years without that annoying low battery chirp sounds great to me. I have had one "false alarm" about a month after installation. The alarm is installed 3 feet from our bathroom and as far as I can tell the steam from the bathroom triggered it. That's really the only reason for 4 star rating.

    A Good Smoke Detector
The smoke detector was easy to install and having a built in, long life battery is a nice feature. Visually it is attractive. My only complaint is that it has a smaller footprint than my old Kidde smoke detector. Requires some paint touch-up. Contains only one detector type

    old inventory
i bought 7 online for one location and 8 from the local store for another location. the dates that these units were manufactured (for the online purchase) was 2013...while the ones in the store were made in 2011! i am trying to be proactive and keeping the units in my home "fresh"....but Home Depot is not doing me any favors with stale merchandise. the actual units were easy to install. about 5 minutes per unit and they are white, unlike the Firex units they replace which were off white. blend ... read more into the ceiling nicely.

    Great replacement!
I needed to replace a previously installed hard-wired smoke detector which appeared to have gone bad (replacing the 9-volt backup didn't stop the constant chirping!). I did some research and found that this model was a perfect fit for the base of the previous one (a 1275 ionization smoke detector). It has been almost two weeks since I installed it and I don't hear those 30-second chirps anymore! The price was reasonable and ordering online and picking up in-store was a breeze. I will be using ... read more this smoke detector for future replacements!

    Easy Installation
I had doubts that I could install replacement wired smoke detectors without an electrician. Amazingly I installed all 7 without any problems. Took less than 5 minutes each. That includes removing the old detector and replacing with new facia plate and detector. I would HIGHLY recommend. Just remember to purchase the required adapter when replacing existing hardwired smoke detectors.

Very easy to install, and a great value for the dollar. Couldn't ask for more.

Two for the price of one
These are very easy to install and the feature of having the batter on the outside is great. No removing the unit to replace the battery. Plus by ordering via internet and picking up at the store, they have this special package where you get two for what the price of one is in the store.

    Compact and economical
Saved me a lot of $$ with replacing all 6 in the house that were over 10 years old.

The product appeared to be what I needed
I was looking for an economical solution to replacing smoke detectors in a duplex I own. The box of six detectors seems to be exactly what I needed: an economical, easy-to-install product.

    Very economical
I needed several fire alarms for a rental property and these were very economical to buy this way. they are also small which is nice so not too obtrusive in the rooms.
