Smoke alarms hardwired
Our alarms were almost 16 years old and 1 bit the dust so we thought we should replace them all. We used these (5 total 2 carbon 3 smoke) and so far we have not had any issues with them. They were all very easy to replace. Hopefully these will last a long time.

us) so far we have not had that happen with the new set we purchased.
Solid replacement for outdated detector
The original model detectors in my home were discontinued and unavailable for replacement, but these were actually an upgrade [photoelectric instead of ionization] for a great price. The same 3 wire system and it was easy to swap out the old connector in about 10 minutes!
Bought this photoelectric detector to replace an ionization model in our kitchen. The ionization type was causing lots of false alarms from toasters, ovens, stove usage, etc. Replaced a BRK branded model (parent company to FirstAlert). Hardwired connectors were identical and it interoperates with the other BRKs in our home. New detector's mounting ring was different than existing detector, though.
After one and a half months in kitchen, not a single false alarm from burnt toast or dirty oven. Works great.
