Good product for a good price.
I bought this to heat and cool a 400 sq. ft. addition in our house. I had looked at several options, and a ductless mini split system seamed to do the most for the least amount of money. I got two quotes from heating and air companies in our area that ranged from $3,700 to $5,200 for the unit and installation. I thought those prices were ridiculous, so I did a little research and found this unit. Because I was able to buy it myself, I did a lot of the install myself and save A LOT of money. I ... read more poured a concrete pad for the condenser to sit on outside, installed the mounting plate, drilled the hole for the lines, and ran a new 230V line with conduit to the unit. I made some calls and was able to find a professional that was willing to come in and just set the lines and finish the install. So the total install price was under $300, plus about another $100 for electrical supplies. We have had the unit installed for about a month, so I can't report on the electrical bill just yet. I will say that it is almost silent, it's tiny and almost un-noticeable on the wall, and for the most part does a great job heating our space. The only problems we've run into is that the temperature outside has been in the single digits at night and low 20s in the day and it has a hard time keeping up at those temperatures. I read this in the owners manual (which you can download right here) before I bought it, so it wasn't a surprise. This is abnormally cold for where we live, so I expect it to function just fine once the temperatures come back up a little. I should also mention that our addition is un-insulated CMU construction with an un-insulated tar and gravel roof, so it is a really hard space to keep heated. Even at these cold temperatures it is still able to keep the temperature in the room around 64-66 degrees. We have not yet used the cooling function, so I cannot review that, but from what I've heard and researched, I expect it to work well. This unit has a SEER 20 rating which is awesome. Based on our local price of 8.8 cents per kwh, I've calculated that this unit should only cost $130 per year to run. I will have a better idea after this winter and summer if that is correct. Two small complaints: I wish it came with some sort of protective sleeve for the lines that run through the wall. I had to jimmy a sleeve and I'm not super stoked about it. Also, the electrical line doesn't come with water proof connections for the condenser. I had to go and buy those separately, but it seems like those should be included. That's all I got, hope that helped.

    Love it!
This unit was for my home office 10 x 20 foot cabin. Seemed like the unit went in without a hitch to me.. very little grumbling from my men folk. But they had prepared very well in advance with wiring, putting down a cement pad, watching the youtube video for installation. We had 2 bids for hooking up the cooling end of the whole thing: $650 and $100! The high bid wanted to remove all the coolant and refill the unit prior to pressure testing, odd?! Anyway, the line was bled, pressure checked out ... read more and the unit turned on.. works perfect on a very low setting, so quiet it can barely be heard. Just in time for a short "hot spell".

    Good Product
Purchased this Gree 12000 btu mini split air conditioner - inverter, heat pump for a bed room to resolve the inconstancy of the central system. My goal was constant temp at night and lower cost by not cooling the entire house when not in use. These units are advertised to be efficient and quiet; it is as described and met my expectations. Picked up at Home Depot and did part of the install myself then had a friend who is a heat and air contractor finished the technical part and startup. When the ... read more outside unit started we could see the fan turning but could not hear it over the wind and outside noise his gauges indicated it was ok and cooling began instantly. When running at full power to cool a warm room the current draw was 3.8 amps, as the room reached the set temp the current dropped to 1.6 amps. This is great compared to my central air drawing 28 amps and on off all day and night. This unit seems to be a quality product the install and operators manual not so good.

    Cool very well
You do not need to be an HVAC tech to install this unit It comes with everything you need. Best price out there Unit work like a champ, cool my living room very well Just a quick FYI. The drain/condensation line needs to be clear all the way out. Don't let it make trap or anything like that since it needs air for the water to drip out. If you make a something like a water trap, the condensation will stay in the unit and later drain to you room. I had to drain mine some distance and figure it ... read more out. I added a t to get air and problem solved

Work well and doesn't take up much space
Once installed the unit woks great however the instalation insructions are a unclear, at best. You will need a profesional HVAC contractor to vacume out the lineset before you start up the unit, unless you have a lineset vacume in your garage.

    Good value for the money.
So far i have tried it in both modes. Heat is great and also does keep the area comfortable when in cooling mode. Best feature is the dehumidification mode. Unit is quiet and efficient. Area in question is over 800 sq ft.

Have a/c & heat in a trailer, shed, garage, or any room without the need to have a window open or ductwork.
Compressor is located outside the room via a small opening for a hose so the interior unit is quiet, dry & there is no need for an open window or expense of a/c duct installation.

Great Price - But Not A "Complete System"
This $699 unit is sold "WITHOUT ANY PIPPING OR WIRING" you must purchase the "1/4 in. x 3/8 in. x 15 ft. Universal Piping Assembly for Ductless Mini-Split $199.00" separately for connections between the two units.

    Seamless
Installation was fast, simple & easy. Heat strips do not function until outside air temp drops below 34 degrees. Taking frequent readings on the main power feed, this unit uses even less amps than rated average and has never come close to maximum. Thermostat keeps a glass enclosed Sun room warm with in 2 degrees across the 25 ft length despite recent 20 ~ degree nights. Used a local HVAC service tech to vacuum lines and he charged two hours. Interior unit was lightweight & simple to install. The ... read more only negative was the interior condensate drain hose length. Installed as specified I would have had a connection inside the unit or wall and any leak could have went undetected until damage was severe. I drilled two holes in exterior wall & ran separate drops for Refrigerant lines / Drain.

Excellent Value and easy to install
I had no problem installing the unit. It took two of us about 4 hours to have it up and running. I then took about 4 more hours covering the tubing to protect it from the elements. Lucky it only took this long to install because the next three days were over 100 degrees and my house was nice and cool.

I will never buy a window unit again!
the installation took about 5 hours. The unit was installed in my bedroom 2 small holes drilled through the wall and the unit was mounted over the holes, the rest of the installation was all outside. There is a very clean look to the yard where the unit is mounted. My room is so cool and you can not even hear the a/c if it is on, but believe me my room is the best place to be.

Great unit , Better than expected .
This a/c unit is a great investment , Took my 8000 BTU window unit out that only did the room it was in 12 X 22, It now cools the space and the adjacent hallway with ease . Fairly straight forward install with some General Plumbing skills and a knowledge of A/C operation . Already having the A/C certifications this was a easy project for me personally . About 6 or 8 hours complete time start to finish.

    AC Heat Pump Works Well
The indoor unit is much quieter than window AC. The sound is noticeable at the two highest fan speeds. If this unit turns out to be as efficient as it is quiet, it will be a good value. The curved cable guide on the inside unit is a great convenience. Since there is no authorized installer in my area (rural Appalachia), I called a local AC / Heating Company. They ran the nitrogen pressure test, pulled the vacuum, field fabricated connections from the outside copper lines to the inside unit, and ... read more opened valves. The outdoor unit is the great surprise. The only way I can tell from more than a few away that it is running is by the grass moving. There are a few practical design flaws. One is screws for the outdoor unit electrical connection cover are behind the cable entry holes. If you use weather tight whip, you are in for a challenge. There is an unlabeled button on the remote control that makes one of two symbols appear. There is nothing in the installation guide or owners manual that explains the pine tree symbol or the little house with the in and out arrows. Other annoying things during installation are fitting size reported by HVAC technician to be unusual for residential units, and electrical terminals. The electrical terminals are beautiful as in art, but there is no groove in the metal to hold the wire while you tighten it in the small space provided. One BIG BAD thing - no customer service; NONE. The number on line goes to Home Depot and is automatically switched to some other organization the leads to another line that is never answered. They do not answer. They do not return phone messages. The distributor / contractor support answers the phone but will not answer any questions. They will NOT help homeowners period. When I called Home Depot they were very understanding, but had no information. If there are questions or problems you can't solve, you are on your own.

    Super Quiet
After a long cold winter I finally was able to get this installed in my work shop which is also a large garden shed. I was using a 4000 watt fan forced heater which was costly this winter to operate. Installation was easy and the instructions were well written. This unit is very feature packed. The remote controls all of the functions. There is also a button hidden under the filter door. This button will allow limited operation if the remote batteries are dead or the remote is misplaced. When I ... read more first turned it on I was waiting for the inverter (outside) to make noise. It did not. This is the quietest mini split I have seen. When It is time to heat the insulated separate 2 car garage GREER is the brand I will go for. Make sure the outside inverter is far enough away to use the minimum 10 foot line set (sold separately)

    Quality Units
As mentioned in the previous review the Gree Tera units are exceptionally quite. This particular unit was purchased for my residence. I replaced a Ramsond unit with this as the inside unit of the Ramsond was no quieter than a window unit. I have purchased 5 of the Gree Evo systems for the college that I work for over the last three years and have not had any problems at all. The quality and features of the Gree is very comperal and in some instances surpass the higher priced mini splits

    Great product for price
I was looking at the Ramsond brand model but it was sold out. I contacted the manufacturer and they told me that they also make this brand along with Ramsond brand. They both have the same compressor and all internal parts are from the same manufacturer. This was a fairly easy install, just take your time and read instructions carefully. This thing runs whisper quiet. I wired a plug on the end of my unit to make it easier to service or plug into a generator. I would recommend this to any basic ... read more diy person don't let it intimidate you.

    12,000 btu mini split
Bought this unit to heat and cool my upstairs loft. The install was not too difficult. Took my father and me about 5 hours to completely finish. All In all it was a pretty smooth install. I did have to remove the outside units grate and bend the metal on the housing because it was coming into contact with the fan, so make sure you inspect the unit upon receipt. Also have an AC technician pull a vacuum and check for leaks. To insure longevity of the compressor make sure you pull the vacuum. I've ... read more read some reviews where people stated there is no need to vacuum but I tend to err on the "it does" side. The reason for the 4 stars is the directions. They are poorly written and not too detailed.

    Very Pleased!!
To save time we had the mini-split delivered to my home. It came with easy to read and short mounting and installation instructions well worth reading. The first task was to measure for and drill a 2.5" hole in the wall of where I mounted the blower and control unit. Drilling the hole in an old stucco house was the most difficult task of the job. Rather than running the electrical along with the refrigeration lines, I used plastic conduit (HOME DEPOT) and then tied the refrigeration lines to the ... read more conduit with plastic straps. Two solid 4" concrete blocks were used to mount the compressor unit, and ensured they were level - using shims and a silicone concrete patch caulk. Using a mini-split also allowed me to provide electrical service with the circuits we had been using for window units - so this was as simple as running some romex and installing a 15 amp plug with a switch at the plug. As per instructions, with all the fittings tight, but not over-tight, it was time to use a vacuum pump to remove the moisture from the coolant lines. With a purchased vacuum pump, I quickly found the connection on the compressor is an ISO fitting rather than an NPT thread. I searched for a connection fitting, but found it would take time to obtain it. However, with an extra NPT hose, I was able to cut about 1/8" off the brass female fitting, allowing it to seat sufficiently to allow the vacuum pump to work. Since the NPT and ISO fittings appear the same, it is tempting to not force the NPT fitting on the ISO service fitting - not a good idea. While vacuum pump worked this gave time to complete mounting and supporting the electrical lines. The control wires are fitted with plugs making this connection very easy - anyone familiar with home wiring can figure this out. I gave the vacuum about 30 minutes - more than suggested, but more vacuum did not hurt anything. Now, the fun part - as per the instructions, I opened the liquid side fitting for 10 seconds (with an Allen-wrench), closed it and checked for leaks using a soap spray at the fittings. No leaks - and then opened both valves, and then switched on the power, and then went to the inside to enjoy the quiet and cool start-up. Both units are extremely quiet. You can hardly hear the compressor unit operating standing next to it. I am very pleased with the install and operation of the mini-split. It came with most of the parts needed for install, and I love the fact I did not need a professional to install it for me. The skill level was in line with automotive repair - say a brake job - only cleaner. I know this is a long review, but my old house is not suited for central air. Contractors tried to promote the idea of using mini-split blowers on the inside, but all tied to a large honking compressor unit (noise and more noise). This also meant I had to install a separate electrical supply for this honker. Price quoted - $27,000. I figure 4, 12,000 btu mini-splits will cool my house, but we may have to re-think this as the 12,000 btu unit seems significantly more efficient than my window units, leaving the only reason to install four mini-splits will be to gain zone cooling. Lessons: 1. Be careful and take time to measure twice and cut once. 2. Don't over-tighten coolant joints. 3. Ensure you can provide a dedicated circuit to feed the unit. 4. Buy or rent a vacuum pump, and ensure you have fittings for NPT and ISO connections. My trick worked, but??? 5. Take the time to install the coolant and electrical lines in a manner that will last the test of time. Be safe and careful, and if you reach a frustration point, stop and research a solution.

    Works great!
This is a great product. I originally purchased it for my small 10x10 office at home, but then decided to move and build a home office externally, so this unit sat for at least 6 months before install. Even still, it installed without any problem. The manual is borderline unusable, broken English. I still have no idea what "healthy" mode does, but it sounds good, so I leave it on. Searching the internet, I think it uses a UV light on the air or something. I also don't know what iFeel mode does. ... read more The rest is pretty self explanatory or explained in the manual good enough. I placed my unit just above a window, because I had no other space to put it, so I do have a problem where it measures the temperature way hotter in the morning when the sun comes through, then way cooler in the evening, so I have to adjust it all day. That's my fault, but I plan to see if I can find the temperature thermistor and move it away from the window. It must be on the bottom of the unit. You seriously can NOT hear this unit running from inside. Being in an out-building, I mounted this on the outside wall which is only about 1/2 inch thick T-11 wood, and with inner walls and insulation, the only thing I hear/feel is the low vibration when the compressor is on, but it's very very low. In fact, this is outside of the wall on my sound studio, and it doesn't affect my recordings. The inside unit is very quiet too, most of the time I don't hear anything. There are lots of good options like adjustable fins, auto swing on the fins, sleep timer, a quiet mode, etc, so I think for the price, it's a great buy. The cooling ability is perfect. I'm cooling a 16'x10' area with 5 windows with no problem.

    Pretty Simple Installation.
My unit has been running for 2 weeks. Installed in an open area basement. No issues with the install or operation. The outdoor unit is so quiet, I actually thought it was broken--but just ultra quiet. I am commercial HVAC by trade. The service port on the suction valve has a 5/16" fitting that will not accept a standard refrigerant service hose. You will need to obtain a special 410A adaptor for mini-splits. I had to read the install instructions several times. The Chinese to English translation ... read more is not the best---but read it a few times & it starts to make sense. Wiring is simple. Main power goes to the outdoor unit. From there, it is routed back to the indoor unit along with one communication wire.

Had this for 8 months and love it
Got this unit to replace 3 baseboards in a 10'x23' room. Needed a unit that has heat and would work with temperatures down to 0. Positives: Heat quality is great even at 0 degrees. AC gets ice cold. Super energy efficient. Quiet. Average electrical bills on my 1000' sq. foot all electrical house with 3 Gree Terra units always set to 68-70 year round seem to be $90/month. Electrical draw is so low I can even run several of these off my 5500 watt generator in case of emergencies. Negatives: ... read more Poorly written manual not written by a native english speaker. We are happy so far with this products performance
The only problem with this product is the installation directions. The users manual is not model specific. It is a general split system manual for most models. Did not explain the Pre Charged feature that my model came with. It did not describe the wiring connections effectively. I am a professional contractor and I had to use every bit of my ingenuity to figure out how to install it. I am left with a low voltage wire with plug in connections that is not described in the directions. I have no ... read more idea what its for. excellent unit
I bought one of these before HD started selling them. I have had it for a year and I love it. It is super quality and really quiet. Now that HD sells them I am even more confident of my purchase. Thease things are fantastic. You cant go wrong.

    Excellent product for the price
We are very happy with this product. We installed this in a 500 sq. ft cabin. We only used the heat mode so far, but we are extremely satisfied with that function. It kept the cabin at the desired temp. The directions on how to install are a little hard to understand. Once you figure out the directions of installation, it goes really easy. Do your homework first, on how big the area, what voltage you want & the area for installation.
