    GREAT UNIT
We are so happy with this unit. I had read reviews that it did not cool well in humid conditions....WRONG!! We purchased this for our pop up camper. We camped in 98 degree weather in the midwest with high humidity. We plugged the unit in and within 3 hours the camper was cooled to a lovely 76 degrees, I actually had to shut it off in the middle of the night because it was too cold! Definately would buy again.

    Great portable AC.
Got this portable air conditioner for my sunroom a few days ago. It works great! Before the heat in the sunroom was unbearable. It is the main area where my kids play and we couldn't use it when the weather was too hot. Now it is so nice and cool and pleasant to hang out in. Thanks to Air and Water for having it ready for pickup the same day I ordered it.

GREAT Product; does exactly what I wanted
Love, love, love this A/C unit. It was my 2nd try at installing an a/c in my garage window. This was easy to install, it's easy to operate, and does a good job at keeping the space comfortable -- approx. 400 sq ft. I use this garage to provide shelter to a couple of homeless cats that I have cared for, for several years. I am very happy that I am now able to bring them inside in the evening, and overnight, in a space that is very comfortable when it is hot outside.

    Great air conditioner!
Super quite, easy to install, keeps my apartment nice and cool. I also have an LG 12,000 BTU air conditioner which is much louder but it also does the job. So if you are looking for quiet too, go Whynter.

    As expected
It pumps out cold air like it supposed to. Its also pretty loud as expected. We got it because we cant fit anything in our windows. If you can, get one that fits in a window because it will be more efficient.

Air conditioning is essential in South Florida
Portable air conditioners like the WhynterEco-Friendly 14000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner must come with certain caveats, though. Along with the unit itself, one must purchase insulation for the exhaust hose, and ensure that the exhaust location itself is insulated against the heat that will pour outside. I know the machine I purchased is working very hard against a hostile environment, and it's done a good job so far. It cannot be expected to cool every corner of the house perfectly - ... read more expectations need to be scaled appropriately - but I just need it to keep me from heat stroke.

    Nice Unit but....
Install not as simple as some on here noted. Had to have panels cut by mitre saw at HOMEDEPOT b4 would fit window. The 'slide' option w/ dual hose severely limits expansion/contraction. Cools a large bedroom very well. A major difference noted to the rooms temperature. Unit is fairly quiet, provides nice 'white' noise with which to sleep. The Blue light indicating cooling is fairly bright but not enough to keep you awake. Like a night light in the bedroom. Overall I am happy with purchase - this ... read more is a high proved model but cools well and should NOT have to empty any water manually.

    hard working AC
I have a 2000 sq foot shop in a metal building with moderate insulation. Before installing the AC, inside temperatures got to about 5F less than peak outside temp. This application is asking the AC to do about 4X what it was designed for. With it running all day, the shop is now about 5-8F cooler than before, and the humidity about 10% lower. It blows 55F air out the vent, which is about all you can ask. Before when it was 100F outside and 45% humidity, inside the shop was 95F and 45%. With the ... read more AC it's now 89F and 35% humidity inside. That's a big difference to me. I only considered dual hose units, as single hose units use conditioned air to cool the condenser and blow that outside. Well, duh, if I wanted outside air sucked into the room I'd open a window. Single hose units have NO ADVANTAGE over dual hose that operate more like a split unit. You can always make a single hose installation out of a dual hose unit by simply not using the intake hose. BE AWARE, some manufacturers sell dual hose units that are actually 2 exhaust hoses and no intake. That's the same as a single hose unit with a bigger hose. Yes, I am an engineer nerd.

    Worth the money I spent
I am happy with my decision to purchase this Avallon unit. The Invisimist function works as advertised. The plastic pieces for insertion in the window are actually decently strong. (Not that I use them, I cut holes in a 1x12 board. It keeps approximately 750 square feet comfortably cool. My Sharp 10K BTU unit did not come even close to keeping it from being uncomfortably warm. About the only complaint would be that it is louder than my old unit, but it is well worth the tradeoff. The sound ... read more is still quiet enough to be able to carry on a conversation without raising your voice.

    Love IT
This has been a great little AC and Heater for my insulated office shed (12'x21'). It will do better in the summer when I put some insulation in the attic and under the subfloor. The heat works great during the winter. It is a little loud, but i wear headsets all day so it doesn't bother me.

Cools our great room very well!
We bought this air conditioner to use in our open concept first floor. This unit cools a 15' X 25' family room without any problem at all. I would like to recommend that the manufacturer label the ON/OFF button with words instead of a symbol. It would definitely clear up any confusion a consumer might have. Easy to assemble as well.

    Works great
I got it for my toy box in my Raptor RV , the heater works great that's what it bought it for Had a 12,000 btu a/c , so I know this 13,000 will be fine.

Cool Air for a Cool Price
The portable A/C unit arrived at my home just in time for the triple digits. Easy to assemble and compact size fits in my bedroom. I use it everyday and it works great. Nothing negative to say about this product.

    Cooling a basement bedroom effectively
Our boys share a bedroom in the basement of our house. It takes a while to heat up but when it does, it stays hot. We have a dehumidifier so we were reluctant to get this as it seemed like quite an expenditure for the few hot days of the year. However, you can't put a price on a restful nights' sleep which is all but impossible in a hot room. They are delighted with its performance and so are we. Amazingly, not only has it cooled down their room, but the entire basement is benefiting by being a ... read more few degrees lower. Wish we had bought this a few years ago for them.

Just what I was looking for.
I am an apartment manager in an area that extremely hot. My apartment is small, but hard to keep cool with only one wall AC until. I tried a windows AC unit and it was so noisy and rattled the window, I took it out. This one is a little noisier then I'd like, but it cools my bedroom so I can get a good nights sleep. Easy to install the vent hose in a slider window. And, the price was excellent.

It Keeps the bedroom cool and I am happy.
Easy to set up. There is no connection piece for the tunnel tube, and I think there should be. But it stays put ok anyway. This thing is loud. It doesn't bother me but it might bother others. I don't know if there is water in it that needs to be emptied, so I am waiting for the buzzer thing to signal. The outlet plug is so low that it will be hard to empty the tank if ever needed. We shall see.

Whynter has not disappointed us so far?
This is the 2nd Whnyter Aircon I bought and it works well, a 12000 BTU and it cools a 440 sq ft dining room/living room with enough to spare. We turn it to 74 degrees and it's very comfy - can crank it for sure if we want it cooler. One thing - the description online says "no drain hose connection" but it has one for sure. Connect a standard garden hose width (then cut lengh to size) to a small bucket or suitable container as it does drain water from the condensation (we're in San Francisco Bay ... read more Area/Peninsula). Funny cuz the 10K btu unit in the bedroom does not drain any water at all. Sound is standard for any portable unit of this type.

Very pleased with the cooling effect and the eco-friendly features
Very effective cooling for our older home. The only draw back is the installation into the window. The venting attachment into the window is lightweight plastic and will need modification to hold it in place and to provide a better seal when we install it again next season. Duct tape around the the plastic panel, as recommended in the instruction manual, did not seem like a good idea and we opted for foam strips instead.

    Great AC
I shopped around quite a bit online for the right AC for my apartment's living room. This one has exceeded my expectations. I have a large, open living room and it has no trouble cooling it, especially when I place an oscillating fan in front of it to better disperse the air. I don't mind the look of it (sleek, good design). Only negative feedback is that I had to construct my own makeshift window vent because my window was too tall which for some reason I did not anticipate. Overall, very ... read more satisfied with this AC and very happy I bought it!

A good choice in a poor field
I've been using this product for the last two weeks, and am moderately satisfied with it. Consumer Reports notes that no portable (floor) unit does an exceptional job of really cooling an apartment (much less a house)--a large room is about the best you can ask for. This is true. That said, this Honeywell unit is among the best of the choices, and does consistently put out cold air. I'm satisfied, knowing what I knew going into the purchase, but $500 can buy a lot of fans and ice.

    It's keeping me cool
The air conditioner was extremely easy to install. I had it working within minutes from taking it out of the packaging. The only issue I have is that I have it in my home office and it is a 10x10 bedroom with a vaulted ceiling. When the temps got above 100 degrees outside, this little guy could not cool the room down below 78 degrees. While that was enough when I had the fan blowing directly at me, I don't know if it will be enough to keep my computers cool if I get more servers. Thankfully, it ... read more does not get that hot in my area that often.

    does exaclty as expected
This has been a great air conditioner. i am getting older and don't have the strength to manage the window air conditioners, this one is on wheels not to heavy and cools the room in record time. plus i like that fact it can be plugged into a 110 line and moved from room to room with a window. the downside is it is a bit loud. so i cannot use it in my small office while i work. which was the original intent.
