Great Option to Protect Posts Installed in the Ground
I recently built a pole barn and was looking to add more rot and decay protection to the pressure treated posts that were set into the ground. Compared to other options, the Post Protectors are more cost effective and simple to install. Concrete pillars are expensive due to the labor required to install them. A solid buried post is also stronger than the weak joint of a post bolted to the top of the pillar. The various "wrapped" posts on the market are more expensive than the Post Protectors. ... read more The sleeves are simple to install. Just slide them on and install the lag bolts to provide uplift protection. If you're having a contractor do the work, just have them slip them on before they set the posts. Quick, simple, and economical.

If you want pole protection, buy this product.
I ordered the longer post protectors to use on the corner post of my pole barn. The protectors worked as advertised "awesome" They were easy to install, light weight and "Made in the U.S.A." Contractors that I used were impressed and plan on offering to their customers. If you want pole protection buy this product.

great product easy to use very effective
the simple yet very effective way to protect your pole plus the pole is buried for the strongest connection which should outlast anything else . much faster and stronger then bolting onto concrete plus concrete breakdown with road salt .Im in the northeast and salt is very damaging

    WORK SMARTER NOT HARDER
I use post protectors for all my in ground projects that require a post or posts. From fences, to retaining walls, even for stop signs.Working on bike paths for the Tahoe City parks dept. in Ca. I constantly rebuild our old fences and walls, and being able to replace them using post protectors is ideal, due to not ever having to dig another hole after initial installation. Once installed a post needing replacement need only to be extracted and a new one slips right back in. WORK SMARTER NOT HARDER

JUST WHAT I NEEDED FOR MY PERGOLA PROJECT
I was getting ready to build a 32x12 Pergola and did not want to surface mount my posts, wanted to bury all 6 posts in the ground to gain lateral stability. At the same time, I had concerns over potential rot from burying wood in the ground, even though in my case they would be in concrete. I was just going to wrap them with something (but what?) until I stumbled across this product online. It looked exactly like what I needed but the problem was I was ready to start the project in 2 days and ... read more the HomeDepot delivery was estimated to be more like 7-10 days. I had pretty much given up on the idea but decided to call Post Protector directly and left a message asking if there was any way to expedite an order. Much to my surprise, the next morning I received a call from Ken at PP who worked with me to get the Home Depot order routed directly to him, and they got me the 6 protectors the next day! Ken was great about answering questions and also showed an interest in my project and helped me with some ideas. Of course its too early to say if they worked for me, but the concept makes great sense and the product was well made, easy to use, and reasonably priced considering I want this structure to outlast me. Overall I am very happy I made the purchase, it has given me the piece of mind I was looking for.

Great looking and easy to put together. I'm very happy with this product.
This item arrived in good condition, had simple instruction and was easy to install. I might even get more. The color is just like it showed. Love it!

    Well Made
This product is surprisingly heavy considering it is hollow. We were thinking it would be used as a sleeve over a 4x4 to help protect the wood, but we may not use the wood at this point. It is very expensive, but if there is no further up keep and it is durable it will be worth the initial expense. This product was sold separately from the end cap when I purchased it, but now it appears they are sold together. Not sure if it is the same quality...

Great Product. Have used them for years.
I’ve been building for better than twenty years and decay is commonly misunderstood. Many believe that moisture is the cause of decay when it is actually one of the conditions needed for decay to occur. Post decay occurs when the soil dwelling fungi use the wood fiber as their food source. That’s why the treatment in a pressure treated post is a pesticide not moisture protection. They basically poison the wood fiber so that the fungi won’t feed on it. The Post Protector is a barrier between the ... read more soil and the post. It’s another layer of protection working in conjunction with the treatment. It allows me to put the post in the ground with no soil contact. No soil contact means no decay. I’ve tried the $150, 150 lb. perma column once. Its purpose is the same as the Post Protector, to eliminate soil-to-post contact. At 150 lbs. and $150, it certainly is not easy to use or to pay for and definitely not DIY friendly. Having used Post Protector for years building pole barns and a couple of decks, I can say that it is the simple, affordable, effective way to protect in-ground posts, period

    No reason not to purchase
After tons of research I found this is the "Best product" to protect your poles. Also they are easy to install, light weight, great customer service if you have questions from the manufacturer, and made in the U.S.A. What more could you ask for?

Great product for protection of your posts!
The product is a simple yet great design. This product will ensure that the posts will last a lifetime plus some. This was a product that will give you piece of mind when investing in a project that involves wood going into the ground.

Received wrong size but still a good product
I ordered 6x6 protectors but received 4x6. I was still able to use them and they should work well based on what I've read about them

    Best pole protection ever!
After much research I decided to purchase this product, so glad I did. Easy to install and provides the needed protection that I was looking for. Customer service through the company was excellent! Every contractor that I have used in helping to build my pole barn has been impressed with the product and plan on offering it to their customers.

Professional Deck Builder using Post Protectors for many years...
Not sure what complaints are about, but I assume it could be people not understanding what a barrier material needs to be. The product as is, is perfect. Lightweight, easy to install, keeps the soil from coming in contact with wood post, as well as keeping the sun's damaging U.V. rays from aiding in the rotting where the post, soil, oxygen, and sun's rays would all come together at the first few inches of grade where the post enters the ground. Before switching to Post protectors, we were using ... read more a thin rubber membrane that would be put on like a sticker/decal, just around the posts flats sides. It did not provide uplift protection though, or a nice appearance with a moisture drainage path. And trying to apply it in the cold was impossible. The product allows for better lateral bracing and support, since you are now putting the post down into grade, lowering its center of gravity, and using the back-fill as additional support, and provide the post with better uplift protection than a single lag bolt into the concrete, as is done without using the Post Protector. As far as needing to be a thicker gauge plastic, not so. We dug a few up last year, to add an addition to a deck we did 3 years ago. Even our digging bars did not do damage to them, and we were able to re-position, and leave alone. I have been using the product for years, since the company opened, and now get them through HD, since I am ordering my Simpson steel hardware through here as well. Makes it all more convenient. I recommend the product highly. And will use as standard building for as far as I can see.
