only two stars because how do you rate a products durability a week after applied?
I used a piece of fabric to paint a table and the sample size was more than enough. It took me about 6 time to get it nice and uniform but it looks great. great color
Used it to stain our deck and love the color! It was easy to apply.
My deck's railing was constructed out of pretty standard 4x4 posts and 2x4's. It unfortunately always looked unfinished as the wood was a fading yellowish pine. After scanning homedepot.com for some ideas I purchased this Behr Slate Solid Color Weatherproofing and gave it a quick coat. It immediately transformed the deck into a sleek modern space, perfect for relaxing or entertaining.
Easy to apply and looks awesome against my brick home. Great contrast !!!
I like the wood stain. It goes on nicely and is a quality product since it protects and seals very well.
Applied easily, cleaned up fast. Good coverage per gallon.
We just moved into a new home about 6 months ago. After looking at the deck and side porch, I knew one of my first DIY projects was to repair and restain them. I was unclear at first of how I wanted the stain to look (Solid, Semi-Transparent, or Transparent). After detailed research, my wife and I became sold on Behr Premium All-In-One Solid Wood Stain & Sealer (Terra Cotta). After repairing and pressure washing the deck and porch, I applied this stain using a brush, sprayer, and roller. I must tell you, this is the best stain that I have ever seen or used. It was easy to apply and dried quickly. Most importantly, the look is AWESOME and my family could not be more happier. My new neighbors are now looking into restaining their deck using this same brand. Home Depot, you clearly have some satisfied customers.
this stain was great it went on very easy and covered very well.we have about 6 acres of horse pasture and we're going to do all of our fence in this stain.
Bought this stuff against my better judgement but girlfriend insisted that's what she wanted on the porch. I've used many Behr products and have been very satisfied with most of them. This is the exception. On exposed porch steps, it doesn't last a season without flaking, peeling, and just wearing off. Have had to retreat the steps every year. Where the porch deck is sheltered, it is holding up OK. Unlike oil based stains, it does not get absorbed into the wood but, rather, acts (and looks) like a thinned latex paint. If you have an exposed deck or any other exposed horizontal surface, I'd recommend you look elsewhere for an appropriate product,
So here's the deal - this sage turned out more like tan on untreated lumber. I was quite disappointed as I really wanted more of a green color. It was my first time using a semi-transparent and it applied more like paint than conventional wood stain, even though it is very liquid based like conventional stain. Because it was my first time using it, I don't want to be too negative because Behr has some awesome products, but I am disappointed and there's not fixing what I used this on.
Two Coats to Cover. Took 14 gals to adequately cover a 600 sq ft deck, fancy pickets and two sets stairs
On new cedar fencing no change in color, on weathered cedar no difference. It may be weather resistance but don't waste your money on this product if you expect to change color of your fencing.
I would not recommend using this color (Cedar #SC-533) unless you want an orange color! It is not a soft brownish color - it's orange! No one likes the finished color, in fact we chose not to do the whole deck. At least the remaining brown spindles and skirting tone it down somewhat. As to recommending the product and what the quality will be is to be determined by how it weathers over the winter.
I purchased this product in Wedgwood blue tint to cover a small 6x8 ft front porch deck with a 20 ft ramp made of yellow pine one year old decking. We chose Behr of it's good reviews that turned out to be correct. I used the cheaper brushes and it covered very well with only one coat as advertised. I recommend this product for any other amateur painter such as myself. I am really surprised how well it covers with only one coat!
Use this product , dried two days we had a real soaker the whole job is bumbling , if bear can not make a good stain they better get out of the business.
Applied this stain last spring. Now it is peeling, flaking, and fading. I am done with all Behr products, which means I am done with Home Depot. I will try to cash in on the "6 Year Warranty", but I expect that will be a waste of time. I will probably just be offered 2 more gallons of the same garbage.
Why don't they sell this in the store? With the added waterproofing most people would want to use it.
Approximately ten years ago I gambled and used this product. It was a wise decision. I used barn red and tugboat brown. Back then the life expectancy was not as good as today's formula, and I'm due to re-stain. The barn red has a extremely mild fading, but still looks Great. The tugboat looks the same as the day I put it on! Excellent. Absolutely no issues with this product. Goes on super easy, and easy to clean up. My Wife even volunteered to stain since it was so easy! Has protected my wood extremely well over the years, and that IS why we are doing this. Although it doesn't look it I'm re-staining again, and can see getting the maximum years of protection using Behr stain.
This stuff is junk for a simple last me a year on a bird house and would not last yeah right 10 years going to lowes for now on
I prepped a dry, slightly aged, treated pine deck with the recommended deck wash. Sprayed 1500 sq.ft. of top deck, railings and stairs. Deck was raised 10 ft. with concrete slab underneath. Also sprayed under deck and rafters. A year and a half later it still looks like it was just sprayed. This year the owner had joists and underfloor of camp sprayed with non-toxic insulating foam. Immediately after they left I sprayed that area with stain also to blend with under deck. Approximately 30 gallons sprayed. Quick drying and durable. No bleed through. Easy cleanup. Great product.
I purchased this stain based on recommendation from Consumer Reports and am extremely unhappy with the purchase. After starting with a brand new deck (treated) and following all wood prep instructions, the first set of applications was only good for a year on all horizontal surfaces (2 coats vertical surfaces, 4 coats horizontal surfaces). The following year, many horizontal surfaces popped and cupped very severely requiring extensive sanding and re-application. I nearly have 50hrs of time invested in a 12x12 deck and am terribly unhappy with the results. Please look elsewhere for this type of product. Actual use indicates this stain applies more like a paint that isn't absorbed into the wood. As such, the stain doesn't seal the wood very well from moisture. Application Information: Winter: 20-60 inches (always removed snow from deck) Sun: 1/2 of the deck full sun, 1/2 the deck shade.
Just wasn't the color I wanted. I was looking for something darker and I guess I needed a solid stain.
I was surprised at how easy this was for some reason! The sample sized cans of stain were perfect for me to get an idea of what I'm going to get as a finished product!
