    Razor-back fiberglass flat shovel
I am so glad I was able to buy this shovel. I have been through so many wood handled shovels, just to have the handle rot & break. I know this fiberglass handle will never do that. It is easy on my hands, too.

    Heavy Duty is an Understatement
Great shovel. Heavy duty and well constructed. The wide, flat edge is perfect for small and large jobs. Would love to have a companion spade to round out a set.

sturdy shovel with a great handle
this shovel replaces an older one we have had for many years. the fiberglass handle makes all the difference. even though a wooden handled shovel seems classic, this one is more comfortable to handle and use for projects. the handle length is longer than any other tool we own. my 6 foot 4 husband really appreciates the size and the weight of this shovel. this is one of the best tools that we have currently in our garage. i think the updated design, with comfort grip, is a true advantage. he was ... read more able to shovel shredded mulch for our garden very easily with this new tool. the square design is used for transfer of material, such as soil, rocks, mulch or other garden substances.

    Great Tool
I bought this to help me dig holes for backyard fence posts. The auger was getting stuck due to stones in the ground. This shovel is amazing and helped me a lot in taking those stones out. It took a lot of force from me and I was afraid that it is going to break but it has stood up very well. I might buy another one. The big advantage of this is that it is very light. I also bought a post hole digger but it is so heavy and hard to use. I love this shovel.

    I dig it.
I needed a couple of stainless steel shovels for some environmental soil sampling projects, and these did just the trick. Fiberglass handle was perfect because it's less likely to absorb water or contaminants than a wooden handle. Only complaint was the sticker on the shovel blade; I had to remove it for science-y reasons and it was a pain to peel off because it kept tearing. Nonetheless, it was a good buy and a good value. 10/10 would buy again.

    very durable shovel
Very heavy duty shovel. I have used it so much since I got it. I had a lot of planting to do and had to dig up some plants and re-landscape the side of the house. It has been a work horse for me.

    I really dig this shovel
This is the first full sized shovel I have ever owned. Having recently moved into my first house that was not HOA-controlled, I suddenly had the need to do things like remove an old fence post, turn soil, and relocate a bush. I ordered this as part of the Seeds program, which very timely offered this up as an item and delivered it the weekend I needed it. The shovel itself has a long, well-finished wood handle firmly attached into a metal spade. The spade is well formed and suitable for both ... read more piercing and displacing soil. It is made in the USA and I have no doubt I'll still be using this is 30 years. So far I've used this to dig up that old fence post as well as relocate a mid-sized landscaping bush. Having never used a full sized shovel before, I just had at it. No real challenges other than the fence post being very heavy. The shovel performed as expected and without damage on both tasks. This was a good addition to my outdoor tool set. I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a nice, long-handled, made-in-the-USA shovel for their backyard or garden.

    Good basic shovel
I needed a shovel to replace a well worn one. This certainly does the job. It is a very sturdy and well built shovel that looks like it will last a very long time. It has a solid shovel area with a sharp pointed area and ridges that make digging into the ground very easy. The shovel is attached to the long sturdy ash handle with a large bolt and feels very secure. I would have like it to have a padded or rubber grip on the upper handle to lessen the friction and the chance of blisters on my ... read more hands. But that's what glove are for. Gets The Job Done
If you are looking for a good American Made shovel, then the 14-Gauge Round Point Shovel with American Ash Long Handle is the one for you. The ash handle is strong and seems to be able to withstand a decent amount of force when trying to pry rocks from a hole or whatever else its owner may come across. The only negatives about this shovel is that the ash handle is not very smooth and over time it seems that it may become rougher, so gloves are a must. Also, I don't understand why it is called a ... read more "Long Handle" shovel when there are plenty of shovels on the market that have longer handles. So, overall I like the 14-Gauge Round Point Shovel with American Ash Long Handle and would definitely recommend it to a friend or family member.

    Not Made In USA
The craftsmanship and quality of this scoop seems to be good. It works really well for it's designed tasks. The only thing I was disappointed in was that the short video on the Home Depot site alludes to the idea that Razorback tools are made in USA. After receiving the tool from UPS (it was purchased online) and inspecting it, on the handle is a UPC sticker that says "Assembled in the USA from foreign and domestic components". What that likely means is that the Northern Ash wood handle came ... read more from the USA and the aluminum scoop head and steel handle are produced in China. The main metal component of this scoop is the aluminum head and there is nothing to indicate country of origin. Stamped onto the aluminum scoop is "tempered aluminum alloy 14". You won't find a "USA" stamp anywhere on this tool. I am happy with the quality and performance of the tool, but disappointed with the lack of honesty of Razorback, which is owned by Ames True Temper Inc.

    Sturdy shovel
Well, it's a shovel. The metal part is sturdy and the handle also seems strong enough for the job. The red, rubberized end of the handle prevents slipping off. The only downside is that the metal has some sharp edges on the part where the handle is attached. So, make sure you wear gloves.

    Handy Shovel to have around
I recently used this shovel to dig out a sprinkler head and the line that feeds the head in my yard. The design of the shovel is such that it makes trenching along the path of the water line a breeze. The blade is sharp and the handle is very easy on the hands. It's a great addition to my shovel line up!

    Light Weight and Strong
I'm a petite woman with a lot of work that needs to be done on my property. I'm not a weakling, but heavy shovels and pickaxes zap my strength pretty quick. I needed a light narrow shovel for digging trenches, grading projects, garden prep, and digging up shrubs and trees to move. This trenching shovel is just what I needed. I was trying to dig a drainage trench with a regular shovel in a tight space and it was really difficult. I went back in with this and was able to dig an 18' trench in about ... read more 5 minutes or so, with ease. It even slices though small roots nicely with a few jabs. So far I've used to to dig 2 trenches, I've used it in a grading application, I use it in my garden, I use it more than my other shovels some days, because it light and digs to well. Also, because of it's bright yellow handle, it doesn't get lost in my garage, I don't waste time truing to locate it amongst my other shovels and rakes. So, in another way it saves me time and energy.

    Wow Trenching Shovel
I was expecting a good strong shovel but this trenching shovel really exceeded my expectations and I am very pleased. The handle is super strong, heavy weight and long. The head is coated, slim, narrow and together they appear like they will last forever.

    Good tool to have
I had planned on just using a spade shovel to dig the edging for my backyard, but I was worried that I would end up making more of a mess than it was worth, but I saw the opportunity for this and jumped on it. It made edging the dirt a breeze so that I could lay my edging material. The construction of this is superb and felt very good in my hands. It was a little on the heavy side but it didn't bother me after about 2 hours of use.

    Heavy duty
I got tired of trying to use a transfer shovel to make clean edges and keeping my Bermuda grass from breaking up my driveway. Knowing my soil, clay with lots of rocks, I needed a stout shovel that could handle the abuse I was going to give it. The blade is heavy gauge steel with a beveled edge to help cut roots and a nice step on the top so you can press down on the flat blade. The handle has a stiff fiberglass shaft with a D-grip so it is short enough to get over and look straight down on your ... read more work. Great Shovel
Needed a shovel to plant 15 trees and two bushes. This was the right tool for the job. Great quality and design. Knifed through the dirt, which had a lot of clay content. Handle very useful for leveraging dirt and for gripping when jumping on the shovel with both feet. Rajor-Back tools are top notch. Have a rake and another long handle shovel I used for mulching. Great tools.

    Serves its purpose
Great shovel at a great price. It's very durable and I have some tough hard clay but the shovel did its job without bending. Very strong.
