WOW - WHAT A TRANSFORMATION
I was looking for a DIY project to update my 400 sq ft backyard hardscape which was in bad shape and patched horribly by the previous owner. My project goals were: 1) not to remove the existing hardscape of cement/brick as I live in a townhome with HOA rules, 2) needed to stay within my budget so it had to be a DIY project I could do myself, and 3) finished project had to look awesome!
Walking through the Home Depot for ideas, I stumbled across the Elements Architectural Surfaces thin pavers.

Wow! This looked like the product for me. Super thin design at ¼” thick that looks like real pavers and installs like tile, fits under the weeper line so no issue with rain/drainage, doesn’t require demo of existing cement/brick so no structural issues related to my HOA, is super strong and looks like real paver tiles once installed/grouted with sand, and price was within my budget.
I did more research online and called the company who manufactures the tiles. Not only is Elements Architectural Surfaces a local company who manufactures the slim surface pavers in the USA (Redlands, CA), they were so helpful and answered all my questions. I really understood what it would take to complete this project before I decided to buy.
My special order was placed through Home Depot as I wanted a different color than what they had in stock. I went with the Monterey design in the color of “tudor” which is in the gray tones. The project took me about 5 days of work and WHAT A TOTAL TRANSFORMATION. I can honestly say this is one of the best DIY projects I have done. My backyard is fabulous and I’m so happy I did this project. If you want to transform your hardscape I highly recommend you use this product (see my before and after pictures). The tiles are even strong enough to install on a driveway.
Two thumbs up from me!
