    Excellent Generator
Recently purchased this unit. It is a well designed unit. We are using it as an additional power source for a mobile hard drive shredding unit. The design makes it easy to transport. We used the unit for the first time last week and were very happy with its performance. The Kohler engine starts easy and runs quiet. It powered the shredding unit easily. Very pleased with the purchase.

    Thumbs up
This generator was easy to assemble and prep for use. Bolt on the wheels, add gas, oil and charge the battery. That's about as easy as it gets. I'm very impressed with overall initial quality. Everything from an accurate gas gauge to a well balanced machine that is very maneuverable. Generators consist of two main parts-the alternator and the engine. This has the best of both and that is why I bought it. After doing a lot of research, this generator offers outstanding value as far as I'm ... read more concerned. If I had one tiny complaint, the choke is not labeled on/off so took me a few minutes to realize I was trying to start it in the cold without choking it. As soon as I turned the choke on, it started instantly. Would absolutely highly recommend this generator to anyone

    survival must have
I have survived Sandy, and working with the CERT organization as an HAM operator in Monmouth County, I learned the value of having the best equipment available first hand. This generator was simple to put together, with clear instructions and all the necessary items to have the unit up and running within a matter of min. I am now well prepared to keep my home running with lighting, heat and refrigeration and expect that any future disaster will have minimum impact on my family and home as result ... read more of having this generator available and operational. Thanks Firman for a great product.

    Great generator
Bought generator from a local dealer. Love the electric start. Motor runs smooth and is easy to operate. Handles and wheels are nice, makes it easy to move around. So far I am very happy with it.

    I like the product.
this unit does everything it is supposed to do with easy mobility and hookup using a transfer switch. nice unit. Shipping took 3 days from west coast distributor.

    Nice Generator
Hooked up the battery , emptied the entire 1qt of oil into it, added fresh stabil treated gas and it fired right up. Small size, fairly quiet exhaust. 3yr warranty, designed in USA(made in china). Best value I found for this price range. Compared to other generators in its class this looked to be of a better company based off of website and support. I also picked up another Battery Tender and wired up the plug to the battery so I could keep the battery in good condition over the long term.

This generator has nice features, except for one (explained below)
This is a very good running machine. It starts easily and is much quieter than others I've had. It is not huge and bulky, and I do not have to keep putting air in the tires, and it fits nicely in the space in my garage. The one feature I find a prolem is that the handle near the exaust gets warm and even hot if running for a long time. This could be fixed by keeping the handle in an upright position somehow while running. This unit is a replacement for another brand that I disliked and brokedown ... read more before it's time.

The best portable generator of its size at a substantial discount
I have been checking Westinghouse generator prices for nearly a year. At the sale price of $749 this is an outstanding value. Three year warranty, 420 cc engine, 7.5 KW, it will run the water pump, furnace, lights, tV, computers, microwave and even small AC. Setup was very easy, except this unit is HEAVY; the wheels and handles are a must. It comes with a liter of oil, a few tools used to set it up, even an oil funnel, and the battery for the electric start. It started almost instantly and ran ... read more smoothly. My meter was reading a steady 62 Hz @ 117 V with no load - that may need a minor adjustment of engine speed - I will recheck with a full load later. I wouldn't exactly say it is quiet, its about like a small lawnmower, not as quiet as a Honda perhaps, but its also $2000 less. I had it delivered to the local HD store; it was ready and waiting as promised.

    The generator worked as expected.
The generator arrived at my door within 3 days of ordering. I assembled it in 1/2 to 3/4 of an hour. It started right up. Very happy with the whole product. Within a week of receiving the generator we experienced a power outage, and we were able to utilize it with no trouble. Power outage was the reason we decided to purchase the generator in the first place.

    Pleased
Everything required to assemble the generator and place it into service with the exception of an extension cord was included. Overall quality appears excellent, there is a simple startup guide, and the engine fired with the first pull. Purchased as an emergency power source so I have no continuous operation data. Judging from what I've seen so far I have confidence it will perform as designed; quite happy so far.

    Best value in generators
I went with the Generac for its reputation as a solid reliable generator and was not disappointed the wheel kit went on easy and after putting oil and gas in it started On the first pull , handles everything that I have thrown at it , would not hesitate in buying another one , great job Generac !

    Great value
I did a lot of on line research before my purchase. I found this unit on sale for an incredibly low price that pretty much made the purchase a no brainier compared to the other Generators on the market. I haven't had the need to use it yet but do start it up once a month as per instructions. It's very easy to start. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it is a little noisy.

    GOOD POWER
The Briggs and Stratton 5,000 Watt Gasoline Powered Generator is a ruggedly built, smooth running power source for many house appliances and most of the power tools I own. It comes assembled, except wheels and foot pad, which take about five minutes to put together. Checked oil, filled the gasoline tank and it started on the second, surprisingly easy pull. So far, I've used it with multiple, 12 - 15 Amp motor loads and noticed no lagging on load change. There is no DB rating listed, but it does ... read more seem run a little louder than I expected. Also, keep in mind that if you plan to use the 240 Volt outlet, you will need to provide a "generator" locking plug or cable.

Ready for the next big outage
It's been a long while since we've had a prolonged power outage, but the next one we will have power. All the directions for starting it up are printed on the top of the machine (turn on switch, turn gas valve on, turn to choke, pull rope). On the side of the machine are the watt values of various items (fridge 700, tv 500, microwave 1000, cell phone 25) so you can tell if you can add another appliance and stay below the 5000 watts that the machine is rated. It will be nice to be able to ... read more run the blower on the wood stove and be able to heat things up in the microwave when the power goes out. I found it a bit hard pulling the cord to get it started. Most gas powered items make the cord longer than a woman's arms so we have a harder time getting the cord pulled to the max and have a harder time starting them. Once started, it ran smoothly. Even though it was setting on concrete, it did not vibrate or move around.

Power when there is no power
This is a 5000 Running Watts/6250 Starting Watts, Gas Powered Portable Generator with a manual recoil starter. The fuel tank holds 7 gallons and has a gauge so you know how much fuel is left. The generator also has a low oil shutdown feature. It comes with a 10 inch Never Go Flat Wheel Kit. It has 6 each 120V AC 20 AMP GFCI Receptacles, 1 each 120V/240V AC 30 AMP Locking Receptacle. It uses push-to-reset circuit breakers and on/off fuel valve. The receptacles have rubber covers hinged at top of ... read more receptacles to protect them while not in use. The unit came with the oil already in it. The oil stick is conveniently located and easy to unscrew. The pull rope, at the wheel kit end of the unit, is a little awkward to pull because it sits so close to one of the framing bars. The choke lever is plastic and feels a little flimsy. The engine starts fairly easily after turning on the engine switch. The engine purrs and is surprisingly quiet, maybe in part due to the low tone muffler technology. Using power tools too far away for a power cord to reach is so enjoyable because the unit’s power does such a good job -- you hear almost no rev-up action when tools are turned on. We can normally use four tools simultaneously without overloading the generator. The wheels roll easily and with the very sturdy pull handle the unit can be moved easily, even over rugged terrain. I also will use the unit to power selective appliances in my home during power outages. At 5000 running watts, I feel it does not justify trying to use this unit as a whole house backup with a transfer switch system. I feel you can easily overload the generator in this situation. I truly love this generator, feel it is very high quality and a very well thought out design. I trust Briggs and Stratton engines a lot. I give the unit a 5 star rating and will highly recommend it to friends

Dependable power for the basics when called upon.
I ran this Powerland 4000 watt generator for almost a week straight stopping for fuel and oil check only. I live in NJ and purchased it a year ago 2011 after Hurricane Irene figuring I'd probably never use it. Well then came 2012 and Hurricane Sandy. I gave it a real workout and it ran and performed like a champ. Ran the furnace, a freezer, a refrigerator, and a small flat screen TV on only one of the two 120v outlets. Never failed to start or run. Ran 9hrs+ on a tank of gas.

A very good mobile generator, that can carry all important loads during a blackout.
Generator has sufficient capacity to carry my entire house load without goinbg overboard. It's portability and electric start make it a reliable back-up generator, while it's size makes it a good portable generator.

    Works great for me
Bought this generator before a winter storm in late 2013, didn't end up loosing power but was glad to have it for my new home. Followed the storage instructions and put the generator away for the summer. Pulled it back out this fall to test it out and found the recoil spring for the starter was shattered. I figured I would be stuck paying to fix this problem, but I contacted the manufacturer of the engine (not Powermate, but they gave me the contact info) and they sent the replacement part out ... read more free of charge. get oil
took out of box to set up.the book said 36 oz of oil required but there is only 1 quart (32 oz)of oil in box..not to cool for a piece of equipment your buying to use in an emergency..once i added the proper amount of oil the unit started right up but i haven't had a chance to really try it out yet.so i can't really comment on performance or quality.

    Solid Unit
This unit has everything you are looking for in portable power at a reasonable price. It is easy to operate and for those who don't want to deal with gasoline, etc. it's a must have. The fact I can easily transport this unit and utilize my existing LP tanks has me thinking how versatile it is (remodeling, camping, tailgating, etc.). It's well built and comes with a two year warranty if there is an issue. Enjoy!

    A good backup for emergencies
It is a neat, compact and well enginered generator. I did a lot of reading, comparing and researching portable generators over the last couple of years.I did not find any that I was sold on until this came out this year. I wanted a propane generator for the safety of not storing gasoline and propanes stability and shelf life. This unit has the power and economy to keep my essentials on during a power outage.A few things to note if you do purchase one.Do not choke the carb.unless it is cold ... read more temps.Open propane tank valve slowly to charge fuel line.Give the carb.fill button a very quick push to not flood the carb.Pull the crank rope straight up at the 12o'clock position and crank until it fires up usually 3 or 4 cranks.I learned these tricks by talking to the factory rep.and my own trial and error.

    Great So Far
Pros: - Price is excellent for a 3250 Watt propane generator. - Started right up and ran 2 x 1650 Watt heaters without a hiccup. - Nice digital multi-meter shows frequency, Voltage, run time. - Relatively light compared to others of this rating. - Compact design compared to others. - High quality powder coat is ding and scratch proof. - Aluminum generator end housing and bearing support (for those of you who remember the bad old days of Powermate with plastic end housing). - Supplied by PRAMAC, ... read more a world-class generator company. Cons: - Kinda funky transport handle arrangement - but they thoughtfully provided a toe step so you can easily tilt up to roll on the big main wheels. - Big main wheels are kinda wobbly and need some additional washer shimming. - One of the aluminum castings looks a little iffy, showing 1/16" voids where it was machined off. - Instruction manual parts list reference numbers do not match reference numbers on the exploded diagram. - (Not the fault of the generator!) HD's shipper in the southeast is dazed and confused. Every time I called them they said it was on the truck, but it wasn't. I needlessly took a day off from work (lost $$) for them to deliver, but they didn't. After I raised a stink a gentleman brought it out to my house in the trunk of his large car. I am less than 15 miles from the PRAMAC America warehouse.
