    Great product
Enough power to break up any soil. Quiet and easy to assemble
  2. 3 weeks ago
    Somewhat satisfied.
I previously had a front tine tiller for more than 20 years; I thought this rear tine tiller would be easier to use but it still required a fair amount of effort to maneuver. Assembly was a bit difficult for two reasons. First, the mounting flanges for the handle bar were not aligned; one was bent and had to be straightened out. Secondly, the wheels/tires were installed with the air valves on the inside; when I tried to change them around one side had a small dent on the axel that prevented the ... read more wheel from sliding off...I had to file it smooth. Cub Cadet could use some better quality control!

    Good tiller
The machine came almost fully assemble. The only assembly required was to bolt the handle bard and connect the cable, instructions were easy to follow. It started on the second or third pull (I can't remember) and it was easy to run. After about 15 minutes of use, I pulled on the reverse lever and the machine made loud noise almost like when you try to turn on the car when its already running, so I tried pulling the forward lever and it made the same noise. My was was standing by and she noticed ... read more a big washer nut on the ground. The nut holding the belt pulley came off. After installing the nut and torquing it, I have not had any problems.

    Worth the money
Easy to assemble, works real well, can be a bit difficult to steer in a straight line but it does the job. Only criticism is that when you want to use the narrow setting the tine shaft sticks out on both sides, wider than the tines, so it is difficult to "till down", otherwise I am very pleased with this tiller.

    Cuts through sod pretty well
This is a very good product for a medium to small garden if you are cutting it for the first time. It works great for large gardens if it just needs a turnover. No problems with the product it has great power and throws stones away from the front of the machine.

A good strong tiller, easily maneuverable
The tiller arrives requiring some basic assembly. It took about 20 minutes to get it all put together, oil in the engine, and a tank of gas ready to go. The tiller is very easy to move around, and does not require you disengage a clutch or the drive train. You simply tilt the tiller back and pull it up on to the rear wheels, which pivot underneath the body. When you reach the area to be tilled you reverse the process. Anybody that has used a self propelled hand mower will be familiar with the ... read more bar on the handle used to move the tiller forward. The engine cranked on the 2nd pull. I used this to till in some fresh compost in to 3 very large raised vegetable beds. It did a great job of mixing the old soil with the new compost, and was very easy to maneuver through the beds.

Completely satisfied . exceeds my expectations.
Much easier to maneuver than my old rear tine. Much more aggressive in terms of actual ground contact tilling. Tills deeper and much more thoroughly than the old rear tine. Very easy and straightforward to unpack and assemble. Transport wheels are undersized and most inefficient, especially in light, Sandy soils. These need to be improved upon. Larger and wider wheel ocs all it would take.

    Nice Little Workhorse
I had my tiller delivered to a store close by because I wanted to save on delivery fees. It came to the store in less than two weeks and was in good shape when I opened the box at home. There was some nominal building of the tiller, i.e., putting on the tines, turning the wheels around, and installing the handles. The manual was helpful, and installation of the parts went without a hitch. After putting oil in (which was supplied) and some gas, I was ready to go. I tilled two sections in my yard. ... read more Most was previously tilled area, and this tiller had no problems tilling and essentially pulverizing the clumps of soil into a fine soil. I have used both front end and rear tine tillers. So, I was expecting to have to muscle this one around a little. I still was able to use the machine efficiently. I also expanded one plot which area consisted of compacted soil/yard. The tiller had no issues converting this area into additional garden area. If you get this tiller, I recommend wearing earplugs because the sound is adequately muffled but a little noisier than a lawn mower. I gave this tiller four stars in most categories only because the handles will twist a little with heavy use. The manufacturer should try to come up with something a little more sturdy for the handles. Otherwise, I was very pleased with this purchase. For my use, just small garden plots in the city, I felt this tiller did a super job. I can recommend this tiller to anyone.

    Awesome Tiller!!
Came with everything except the gas! Easily assembled, started on the second pull. This tiller may seem lightweight but it has the kick of a mule. Quickly and efficiently tilled hard compacted soil, PLUS you get a great muscle and cardiovascular workout to boot. If it weren't raining and 5:30 AM I'd go do some tilling right now just for fun!

Great for older people and young alike~
This little tiller is perfect in the garden plot as well as around the flowering beds. It is lightweight and small but does a really heavy weight and big job! It is very easy to handle and I am a small elderly woman in my 70's. Sure beats the alternative (hoeing and shoveling to work up the ground). I would highly recommend this product.

    Works really well.
I was pleasantly surprised by how well it dug up the soil even in tilling up lawn for new beds. It is a good size although a little too large for tilling around already growing plants. Easy to assemble and fairly easy to handle, even for this female senior citizen with a number of chronic illnesses. In fact, I got it because I can't dig like I used to and this enables me to loosen the dirt and get ready to plant.

    So far so good.
I enjoyed using the 17 pound tiller a couple of weeks ago when I received it from UPS. It is powerful enough to use in my 4' x 20' raised garden and all the landscaping areas of my 1/3 acre lot. It has a two year manufacturer warranty also. My gas rototiller weighs at least a hundred pounds and I used it mainly to start tilling in virgin soil that the electric one would have a hard time with. I will be selling the gas one this summer.

They really hit that sweet spot of power and maneuverability for yard work
I got this product for free in exchange for an honest review. After assembling and experimenting with it, I can definitely recommend this. It’s a great sweet spot between a lighter duty (useless) electric unit and a heavier duty (beast to use) unit, like you’d get as a rental. I had tried a smaller, electric tiller in the past and hated it, even for my very infrequent and small scale needs. Now THIS tiller … works great! I’m not fibbing when I say that it started up on the first pull. The ... read more unit’s not nearly as heavy and difficult to navigate as one I had borrowed from a neighbor in the past. In fact, it’s quite easy to maneuver. It dug through my soil effortlessly and pulled itself through without even a hint of difficulty. In the photo you can see that I made three passes on the deep setting and this took well under 60 seconds. I did find that I needed to hold it back and down a bit to let it do the work, as it wants to pull quickly through, without churning it up as much as I wanted. It’s very easy to switch between churning mode and transport mode by simply flipping the rear wheels, which requires no tools. Simply lift it up and flip them. There’s a depth bar that’s also adjustable without tools. Installation was a bit of a challenge because of poor instructions. I’d say that the French and English pages were somewhat randomly placed. I did not notice a pattern. It was frustrating to find all of the English pages scattered throughout. It was also frustrating not to have pictures that were clearer, wherein I could see detail. The instructions were flat out wrong in several areas, presumably due to design changes. What appeared to be a throttle cable support arm was not shown in any of the pictures. Well, it might be, but I couldn’t make it out due to poor resolution. There was no place that I could figure out to install it. The single hole that I had was above the cable mount, which made zero sense. So I ended up drilling a hole through the handle, installing it in a location that felt right to me. This eliminated the severe angle out of the cable, leaving a nice, gradual transition. See my photo.

    As advertised
Packaging extremely damaged when delivered. Metal bent in some places. Two bolts for handle missing.

    Tiller
The tiller was easy to assemble, however the instructions could have been clearer. It works great, very strong. Good tiller for the money!

    Holy Cow
Let me start off by saying I never, ever, ever buy an electric tool to do yard work. I am old school and have always purchased the big gas machine to do the job. When my garden tiller finally went (btw after only 4 years of ownership) I went to purchase another gas powered machine. Upon going to HD they were out of the product I wanted. I looked at reviews and noticed everybody loved this machine. I figured I give it a try. Like I said, Holy Cow this machine was better than any other tiller I ... read more have previously owned. It tore up my garden soil like a $400 machine. Also, a huge bonus is no gas, oil, spark plugs, and... Yes the cord can be a pain but it a quick learn. Once again I love this unit.

Did what I wanted to do
i have never used a tiller before what my husband and son but this I felt would be something I could handle and it is. I was able to till up my garden area by myself and make ti look good and ready to be planted. I have many little projects in the future planned for this little machine. I'm impressed.

    Great Tiller
I wanted a strong tiller for my packed soil. I waited for after the rain. This tiller did an excellent job and was surprised with the ease it did the job. I went as deep as 8 inches. There was no need for me to wait for the rain. Just be sure that your extension cord is rated at 15 amps. This machine is light and easy to setup and operate. I wanted an electric to avoid difficulty in starting and ethanol gas staying in the engine.

Good balance of speed, power, and ease of use
Tiller makes quick and relatively easy work of breaking ground. The way the wheels flip up and under right behind the tines makes if very easy to transport too.

    Fairly Quiet and Tough
I bought this smaller tiller for my 26 ft. x 16 ft. raised garden beds. The machine is perfect. The Briggs and Stratton engine starts VERY easily and runs smoothly. The till depth is excellent. So far so good. Since I've only used it once I can't speak to how long it will hold up, but I plan to take excellent care of it so it should last at least 20 years.

    Great tiller
I bought this tiller 3 years ago to save on renting a tiller. It has worked wonderfully and no problems what so ever. The Briggs & Stratton engine tills through sod covered soil with no problems, and walks it way through previously tilled gardens with ease. Easy set up and maintenance. Well worth the money and it is American made.

    GREAT Tiller and backsaver
I love this tiller. Started and ran on the second pull. Runs hard and adjustable depth makes it easy to use. Strong engine and easy on gas. I have a small garden, but this tiller is very easy to use. The only downside is there is no reverse gear to backup. Makes it a little hard to get out of tight spaces. Removable outer tines make it easy to adjust the width for between row weed control. Overall it is a great addition to my garden and I really love this machine.

    Great garden tiller
Bought this tiller a month ago and I absolutely love it. Does better than the rear tine tiller I had before. Doesn't bog down, great on gas, easy to handle and very very powerful. Good depth. Took the wheels off and it dug even deeper and never bogged down.Very impressive. Starts on the first pull. The tines look weak, but they're not. Great tiller for the price.

Easy assembly and great for the price!
I was debating whether or not to get a front tine or back tine tiller for a garden area I wanted to start. The ground had never been tilled before however I went with this front tine tiller. I got it home, took ten minutes to assemble and got a large area cleared out in no time. Seem to get through thick ground easily and was pretty simple to maneuver. Not so bad for a lady:)
