Happy with Glazol one year later
Bought mine in small quantities as first time and not sure how it would work. Pleased! Did test drive last year reglazing windows in place - so exposed to elements but did "canopy" work areas with plastic while glaze curing. Slow process (remove old putty,prime area with KILZ (oil based), 24 hour wait, put on Glazol, waited two weeks till skin touchable but pliable then cover glaze with one coat KILZ and next day started 2 coats Benjamin Moore exterior latex. back in. That was last July. It is now a year later (June) and everything has held together beautifully - no cracks, no peeling. Am working now on additional windows.
good to work with, sets up very slow
It's a good product. I've used it before. It's much more workable than the DAP equivalent. However it takes a really long time to set up. I'd use it again.
Best window glaze compound out there!
I have a historic home with original windows from 1857. I would never think of replacing them with modern windows -- NEVER! This product, Glazol, by UGL is far superior to any other window glazing product out there. Mixed with a little mineral spirits as suggested on the label, it remained pliable and was easy to work with. It cured well and was very paintable.
