    Kilz Premium stickiness question
Last weekend I used the Kilz Premium water based primer on some molding in doorways in my living room. The boards had been previously painted or primed white but some knots were still showing through. So I bought the Kilz Premium and painted them again. They look great! The problem is that if I put my hand on them, even a week later, it seem a bit sticky/tacky to the touch. And one of the doors of the newly primed doorway is now sticking. Why? Or what should I do? I was hoping that one coat of ... read more Kilz was all if need. Thank you.

    Great primer
My handyman suggested that I use this primer on the trim around my crawlspace covers and the garage door trim. It goes on very easily and gives good, even coverage. Was easy to apply and projects came out looking great. I'm not handy so this is saying a lot!

    question about tackiness
Hello, my dad and now me have always used Kilz as our choice of primer for blocking stains and prepping surfaces for color. My problem is that I had an 18-year old inexperienced person sand, clean and prime two outdoor adirondack chairs. The sanding and cleaning was done fine. The Kilz applcation is another story-two very thick coats. A week later there are bubbles which are wet when pushed upon, tackiness an drips. What is the best fix for this? Stripping all the Kilz off, sanding, ... read more wire-brushing? I'm at a loss. The topcoat color will clearly just make a big mess, messier.

    Money saver!
Original KILZ Primer is a life saver (money) Purchased a home from a bank repo it had been used and abused. Had to do a total face-lift throughout the entire home floor to ceiling there had been previous pets and from sitting empty critters in the home. Pulled up all the old carpet and then a coat of KILZ! finished product was spectacular! I would highly recommend KILZ for everyone as a base primer!

Kilz is great to hide old stains........
I have an old house where the ceiling has yellowed over time. While redoing the Master bath in all white, the ceiling was definitely a different type of white. The only way to describe it is yellowish next to the white walls now. Kilz keeps me from having to redo the paint again and again.

Product does what it says it will do.
I found recommendations for this particular primer from several DIY websites. The primer does exactly what it says it will do, covers substantially with minimal prep work. It is very sticky which means you'll need to wear your best "painting/work" clothes and make sure you're in a well covered area.

This is a perfectly fine choice of primer
Does primer really reviewing??? My painter used it, not me, and this is what he told me to get. My walls and woodwork look perfect so I guess that it was a good choice.

    very good
Home Depot in Columbus street, Philadelphia helped us to mix color. When my contractor sprayed, I'm impressed by that color. it's almost as good as Behr at a discount price.

    Great Purchase
Primer went on very thick dries quickly and seemed to stick very we'll to a variety of different surfaces. The over all cost was a little but more than expected but still a good product and would recommend more for smaller or med size jobs !

    Works great
Hard to beat an oil base primer and Zinsser works great. Used it over a patchwork of colors and some water stains. A water base primer doesn't work as well. The smell is strong but as long as area is ventilated well that's not an issue.

    the right choice
I was thinking of something clear enough to paint my wood door and show the vains of the wood itself, then I found it in this stain oil base sealer.

    eterior primer good
I used this on a older house that I scrapped the old paint off. I used Behr paint to topcoat it. I think it did a good job but my concern is the cost of it. Kilz is less then half the price,

Clean up was eazy and love this product
I almost didn't buy this product after reading several reviews about the tough clean up. I have been painting the exterior of my home since May and I have done lots of clean up on various stains, paints and primers. I needed a really good primer for my garage door and also my masonry front steps. This product fit the bill. My brush and roller cleaned up fine after both applications on the garage door and they are ready to go for the next project. A tip I learned along the way for the paint tray. ... read more I line the tray with the cat liners that slip over the pan. I can get four trays out of 1 liner and makes for easy cleanup.

    Quick delivery makes overordering unnecessary.
It would be helpful if this came in 5 gallon buckets for larger jobs. Also a standard darker color primer would be good when using the darker final coat paints. Coverage, particularly using the white primer with a darker finish coat is much lower than specs predict. Two thin finish coats make a much better finish than trying one heavy finish coat. Always start in the back of the building to work out the kinks.

    Kiwik 5-Gal Interior Primer Sealer
The Primer Sealer looks good on my ceiling and walls. It dries quickly. I wish I would've bought this earlier before I painted my walls but it's okay, I went over it again because I needed that protection. It doesn't have a glossy look but more like flat paint. I would definitely buy it.

I bought this product because I really didn't know what to buy, but I'm glad I did! It filled in imperfections and my paint and wallpaper turned out great! This is a must try!

    Best primer sealer for wood
I stay away from lacquer-based products which also work well, but will kill you early. Oil, water...not good. Alcohol based white shellac BIN by Zinzer (not the fake stuff sold at BMoore dealers) is non-grain raising, fast dry, very sandable and Home Depot online sells it at a great price for 5gal. It arrived in a few days. I'm happy.

    Solves problems
I have a garage with one coat of sprayed contractor grade paint on it in 1987. No sign of any primer and just very thin paint. Sheetrock mud, reg primer, etc., makes this old paint bubble for some reason. And it causes a stain around the bubble. But the Zinsser primer solved all the problems. It wasn't cheap, but it was much easier than scraping and repairing bubbles by the dozen. Paint is very thin but works great. Easy to drip though. Dries very, very fast so correct any errors immediately. ... read more Clean-up is alcohol or ammonia/water. Really dries so fast that it is very difficult to clean-up the tools so I recommend not using really good brushes or rollers. Easier to dispose of than clean. It is alcohol, not oil or water based.
