A review for spray paint. Okay.
It's aluminum primer, which I used on wood because it's primer, and I wasn't paying attention when I bough t it and wasn't going to go back for wood primer because, primer, whatever. I'm sure there's a difference if you need to use it on aluminum but for my project it didn't make a difference.

Covers stains well but has strong oder
Looks like you have to try it to see if its right for you after reading the other reviews. I used this on my ceilings after applying new sheetrock. I found it covered stains and the transition from the old painted surface to the new sheetrock surface better than the less expensive item I used before. However, contrary to another reviewer, I found the smell & fumes very strong and needed to wear a dust mask and open the windows until it dried. After it dried, I only needed one coat of ceiling ... read more paint to get a perfect white finish. Of course the ceiling paint you use could make all the difference. But getting back to the smell, even my dog who was in the next room sleeping moved two rooms away to sleep while I was working without me telling him to and he usually sticks to me like glue. May not want to use indoors if its too cold to open the windows. I am not a frequent user so maybe I am more sensitive to the smell than someone who works with this stuff all the time.

This product worked great my whole house was full of soot the ceilings and walls were black after 2 coats of this primer the ceiling and walls were totally white. The primer had a very low order which was surprising considering other primers. I will use this primer again and again and again

Good price for a good primer
Primed 4 rooms with one coat over finished drywall that was skim coated with drywall topping compound. Applied primer at a rate of 390 sq ft per gallon with a roller. Very happy with the coverage.

    PVA Drywall Primer Covers Great
I use PVA Drywall Primer all the time. Not only does it cover great, but it is sandable so you do can do repairs before you paint.

    Interior fireplace
Purchased this product to seal, prior to painting, an interior fireplace. Coverage is awesome. I had the primer tinted black, as the fireplace will be a deep gray, however, now that the primer is on there, I like it just as it came out a beautiful "soft" black. Is it necessary to paint over this, or can it be left as it is...just the primer? Thanks!

    Ceiling Problem Solved With KilzKlear
A home I bought had had new sheetrock ceilings put up a while ago and then had popcorn finish applied. Unfortunately they had used no primer and the popcorn started falling off in dinnerplate size pieces. I removed all the popcorn, sanded the filled joints and was then left with a very powdery and absorbent surface so I applied 2 coats of KilzKlear a couple of hours apart and it gave me an excellent surface to apply white ceiling paint to. KilzKlear is easy to apply with a roller, dries quickly, ... read more fixes a chalky or dusty surface permanently and overcoats well. Any spillage wiped up while wet easily with a damp cloth and water. Its great to find a costeffective product which does exactly what it says on the can.

    Best primer for the price
Brand new plaster work required two coats of primer; went on evenly and easily. We used a commercial sprayer. You cannot use a sprayer with all primers; some may require thinning. This one was perfect! Clean up could not have been easier. Paint looks amazing over this primer!

    This one works!!
I bought a house with chocolate colored walls. It's been a nightmare to try to cover up that color! I started with the Killz but still ended up with multiple coats of both primer and paint. The primecoat covered it up in just 2 good coats. What a difference!!

    Good stuff!
I have used this product for decades and have never had a problem with adhesion or rust breaking through or durability. I've used it with and without a top coat with no issues either way. If you don't cover it with a top coat the only thing you'll notice is that after many years the color will lighten up quite a bit. But that's it!

    Works well - Fast
Being a beginner, It got a little messy when i didn't realize it has to be cleaned with mineral spirits and not water. Works great, easier than paint to apply.

    Works Great
I've used this primer on rusty metals for a number of years, and it works extremely well. I had an old bush hog that was very rusty, so I cleaned off the loose rust, used the rusty metal primer, and then covered it with John Deere green. Two years later, it still looks like new. I have never found any paint that works on rusty metal that even comes close to rustoleum.

    This product is the greatest.
I bought a house where the previous owner had 20 bazillion cats. They peed all over the floors and even sprayed on the base boards. I tried everything (coffee, baking soda, pure bleach, pinesol and every other cleaner known to man) and nothing worked. You could still smell that odor. A friend of mine recommended Kilz. I tried it and with 1 coat, the odor was gone. I just poured it on my wooden floors and used my mop to distribute it. I used a paintbrush to paint the baseboards with it. It worked ... read more like a charm. I have recommended it to everyone since that use. Great product.

KILZ Gives Life to Neglected Old Walls
I'm a firm believer in priming any surface prior to the final coat of paint. Be it metal, wood, or sheetrock, I prime it. Ten years ago I purchased a 60 year-old house in North Dakota that sat vacant 25 years. After remodeling the basement for a few years I started remodeling the upstairs rooms. Pink rooms, blue rooms, and green rooms. I purchased KILZ for the primer--as I always have--and primed each room. Only one coat was needed per room. The final coat of paint went on smooth and only one ... read more coat was also needed. I saved time and money applying KILZ primer because my projects are done right the first time.

    Unbelievable performance
Recently a couple of our kids got loose with felt pens while I was outside and totally redecorated the kitchen walls. I was sick at the thought of all the work to get the marks off the walls. I went down to Home depot and got the Kilz Max and applied two coats over the marks and I was stunned at the effect it had on the felt pen marks. It was almost too simple. Will be sure to tell other parents about my experience. Thanks Kilz

    Great Primer
I have been refurbishing my wooden backyard fence. Replacing rotted boards. Bought KILZ to primer bare wood before painting. Excelent for this. The top coat goes on very smoothly over the KILZ primer. Only thing, I was going to leave some of the primer unpainted as white trim but it does not look good. But that is not what it was designed to do. Will get a gallon of semi-gloss white to go over it. Overall, it's a great primer and very good value.
