    Solves problems
I have a garage with one coat of sprayed contractor grade paint on it in 1987. No sign of any primer and just very thin paint. Sheetrock mud, reg primer, etc., makes this old paint bubble for some reason. And it causes a stain around the bubble. But the Zinsser primer solved all the problems. It wasn't cheap, but it was much easier than scraping and repairing bubbles by the dozen. Paint is very thin but works great. Easy to drip though. Dries very, very fast so correct any errors immediately. ... read more Clean-up is alcohol or ammonia/water. Really dries so fast that it is very difficult to clean-up the tools so I recommend not using really good brushes or rollers. Easier to dispose of than clean. It is alcohol, not oil or water based.

This product is easy to use.
This product has been used in our shop for many years. A dependable finish that is easy to spray.

    Best primer sealer for wood
I stay away from lacquer-based products which also work well, but will kill you early. Oil, water...not good. Alcohol based white shellac BIN by Zinzer (not the fake stuff sold at BMoore dealers) is non-grain raising, fast dry, very sandable and Home Depot online sells it at a great price for 5gal. It arrived in a few days. I'm happy.

    Amazing!!!
This stuff is amazing...really no preparation required, just paint it on. Coverage is great, low odor, sticks to all kinds of surfaces, and easy clean up!! What more could you ask for. I have been searching for many years to find a reasonable and easy product to cover the lead paint. This is it!! I am so very happy...and the price is great too!! I can do this myself and save thousands. It looks great by itself, but can also be covered with any other top coat. Only been available to public for a ... read more couple years and it's been worth waiting for!!

    Much BETTER than expected!!!
This paint was easy to apply and it applied thick. I did use two coats, but more because I felt it was safer to cover the lead paint that way. This paint does have a texture, its kind of gritty. Also, based on some of the reviews I read I expected the paint to have a strong odor, but really it wasn't bad at all!

Great product that we would reccomend after our experience recently.
Very chalky and coarse finish that covers and adheres very well. We are hoping it will age well too. Since we have no long term experience, I am hesitant to give five stars. We liked that the smell is not very strong or obnoxious, and that such product even exists. We repainted old porches that had some chipping paint. Overall we are very pleased with purchase and shipping speed. But, still we would like to see it in the stores as well, not juts online.

    After Fire Smoke Odor
I had a house fire and used the Kilz to cover/remove the smoke odor. What an awesome job it did. I am most impressed!

KILZ ORIGINAL 1-QT. WHITE OIL-BASED INTERIOR PRIMER, SEALER AND STAIN-BLOCKER
I noticed I had a stain on my ceiling and knew I had to paint it. I've used Kilz in the past and it's always did an awesome job. It's a little thicker than normal paint which makes it a lot easier to spread and cover the area that's stained. Now it does have a smell to it but all I did was open the windows for a couple of hours. After it dried I just painted over it with white ceiling paint and now you can't even tell there was a stain on the ceiling. I would recommend Kilz to anyone that has ... read more stains on their ceilings or walls.

KILZ. IS THE BEST FOR PET ODORS
Being in the flooring business for over 25 years. And had to remove ALOT OF VERY DISGUSTING Carpets. It is very hard to stand the smell sometimes. I tell the customer's all the time to Use KILZ. And paint the floors. Usually lose a half a days work .But some people don't know how good it works . I can go back the next day and smell just the Kilz. I always will recommend Kilz to any one looking to block that pet urine and stains. Also been back to a few jobs that I recommended Kilz to and years ... read more later still good GREAT PRODUCT

Go with the best, this is the one!
After trying many brands and types of primers, AND also after going without any on some occasions, once I used B-I-N I am a true believer! It does what others do not--it seals stains AND ODORS after one coat--2 for extremes--whereas others fall short. It does save on paint coats for an even finish, if you use this primer first. Best of all it unifies your look if you have different materials you want to have the same finished look--such as wood and plastic, metal and ceramic, whatever. It also ... read more allows you to paint things that normally do not accept a paint finish well, such as metal, plastic or glass....helps the paint stick! You will need to use a chemical mask with this, but it's worth the effort--results are excellent with B-I-N first. Think of it as "project insurance"--and the price becomes a bargain. Remember, a good paint job is not cheap and a cheap paint job is not good!

    amazing coverage and odor sealing
I recently purchased this product and used it to seal in the pet odors left from the former owners dogs. I'm amazed truly how well this went down (i used a cheap roller and a throw away brush) the gallon covered the large area that I needed it to. We left the house for a few hours since the stuff is stinky in it's own right and when we got back it didn't smell at all! the pet odor and the alcohol odor was totally gone from the upstairs. I'm super impressed with this product despite being ... read more hesitant at first mainly due to sticker shock

    The #1 primer.
This is without a doubt the best primer I have ever used around my house. I will never substitute another primer for this one. Some people don't like the smell but to me that smell tells me I'll have another a great paint job. I use ammonia and water for the clean up and have an ammonia/water wet rag handy at all times for an occasional oops.

    Great Product
No odor at all! went on with a roller and coverage was excellent! slight grey tint to it, but dries super white in very little time! I will buy this product again and will highly recommend it to others!

    Used on Old unpainted/primed drywall
I purchased 5 gallons of this product for a single stall garage that had never been painted or sealed. I applied using a Graco airless sprayer and a 517 tip. It sprayed very nicely and dried quickly. It did not cover some moisture stains we had on the walls but significantly hid them. I did use all 5 gallons and could have used more on this project. It does seem to absorb into the drywall readily. I top coated with Glidden paint and was very impressed at the results. I will also say that no ... read more matter what paint brand I do not believe in a one coat paint. I used three gallons of paint after priming with great results. Overall I would recommend and use this product again. I have always liked Zinser 1-2-3 but at half the cost this is my go to primer. I would estimate that you use 25%-50% more of this product depending on what it is being applied too compared to Zinser. I am using it on previously primed and painted OSB in a shop, I will update on that application.

    for use on new drywall
PVA primer is intended for use on new drywall to seal the porous surface before texturing. Some negative reviews here and under the 5-gal bucket seem to have tried to use it as a stain-hiding product or to cover up old paint. If that's what you are trying to do, then you need to spend the extra $$ and get kilz original or kilz2, or another stain blocking primer. Do a little research and spend a little more on the right product for the job, and you will save yourself some trouble.

Works with DIY chalk paint recipe (mixing plaster of paris, water and primer)
I used Kilz Premium Primer to seal the surfaces of my 2 old oak stained end tables. I mixed 4 oz. plaster of Paris with 8 oz. water, then added 16 oz. Kilz Primer to the mix. It spread onto the finished furniture easily with a foam roller and dried quickly. I was able to use homemade chalk paint over the primer the same day. Kilz is a great product! Best part was that I didn't even have to sand the furniture before priming and painting and still got a great finish on my tables.

    Casual Colors
My review would be for Casual Colors, and I can't find it listed. It's my favorite interior paint. I have to order directly from the company, as it's not carried near me any longer, but it's not a problem at all to order. I also had great customer service when I did happen to locate a supplier, but the base was old and had a bad odor. Customer service quickly sent out replacement product. Since then, i have ordered directly from Masterchem. Shipping is free and fast. Great product!

    question about tackiness
Hello, my dad and now me have always used Kilz as our choice of primer for blocking stains and prepping surfaces for color. My problem is that I had an 18-year old inexperienced person sand, clean and prime two outdoor adirondack chairs. The sanding and cleaning was done fine. The Kilz applcation is another story-two very thick coats. A week later there are bubbles which are wet when pushed upon, tackiness an drips. What is the best fix for this? Stripping all the Kilz off, sanding, ... read more wire-brushing? I'm at a loss. The topcoat color will clearly just make a big mess, messier.

    Best Primer
We use this primary exclusively for exterior painting, yes it thick and thats what makes it the best. We used SW oil primer that was thin and dripped everywhere. Would not use it for interior unless you could spray it. I go out of my way to use this product.

    This stuff covers anything!
It's an oil base, so clean-up is dirty. My house hasn't been painted in 15 years. This primer is great. I put 2 coats on my house, 3 on the Snow line. It took 6 gal.

    Best Primer!
Last summer I bought this to primer to prime a 90 yr old exterior home. This home was a rental for 50 yrs., so, the paint jobs were awful. This can of primer put 2 coats on the front of the 2 story home. The latex paint went on so well and the home looks 50 yrs younger. Granted, I sanded most of the old paint down to the wood and it was a LOT of work for 1 person. It was worth all the time and work! The home looks wonderful!!!
