    Great product!
Recently had to redo our pantry due to pests (we just moved in). Kilz'd the whole thing, caulked the crevices, tore out the baseboards and even kilz'd the laminate flooring. Couple coats of polyurethane and the pantry looks GREAT with no sign of pests!

    This product is the greatest.
I bought a house where the previous owner had 20 bazillion cats. They peed all over the floors and even sprayed on the base boards. I tried everything (coffee, baking soda, pure bleach, pinesol and every other cleaner known to man) and nothing worked. You could still smell that odor. A friend of mine recommended Kilz. I tried it and with 1 coat, the odor was gone. I just poured it on my wooden floors and used my mop to distribute it. I used a paintbrush to paint the baseboards with it. It worked ... read more like a charm. I have recommended it to everyone since that use. Great product.

KILZ Gives Life to Neglected Old Walls
I'm a firm believer in priming any surface prior to the final coat of paint. Be it metal, wood, or sheetrock, I prime it. Ten years ago I purchased a 60 year-old house in North Dakota that sat vacant 25 years. After remodeling the basement for a few years I started remodeling the upstairs rooms. Pink rooms, blue rooms, and green rooms. I purchased KILZ for the primer--as I always have--and primed each room. Only one coat was needed per room. The final coat of paint went on smooth and only one ... read more coat was also needed. I saved time and money applying KILZ primer because my projects are done right the first time.

    Metal primer
Easy to use and apply. Seemed to be a little thin, so the coverage was not as good as expected. Easy to cover with paint.

    Great product
When ever I have a surface that I think may taek several coats to cover, I always start with killz. It cuts out at least one coat. Always trying to work smarter.

Good sealing with quick dry time.
I have used a lot of this paint for interior repair. Drywall ceilings that have had minor stains and only minor damage to the drywall itself are my major target for this primer. A brush generally provides good coverage and allows adjacent texture that has not been removed to be painted as well. This secures the area for further repair such as retexturing. I like to keep a pint on hand for just this kind of primer work. I also use it over spakling before finish coats. It has a good stiff surface ... read more finish that grabs the final coat.

This Product Primes & Hides Stains before Painting
One Coat works on light stains, scuffs, marks on walls floor molding, window & door trim, especially light colors. Two or Three even better, depending on how deep the color of the stain. In my situation, my Dog Pinched a Deuce, then used the wall to leave his autograph. This Stuff is good as both are suitable as a Primer, and Stain Cover Up, spreads smooth and even, and works especially rust stains but recommend more than one coat, let dry add another, let dry. and a third coat should do the ... read more trick, but sometimes rust stains have an annoying habit of gradually returning, so keep a can of it around. I've used it for years. Bring Proof of your Military Service (VA, DOD Retired, Active Military I.D.) and get 10% discount.

    Great idea
Time will tell if this works. Daughter is remodeling her second bath and we are using on the ceiling. we plan to use on the ceiling of our second bath but have not done so yet. It is a great idea and was easy as painting.

    Works as Planned
The first thing to consider with any mold/mildew paint/primer coverage is to find the source/reason for the mold/mildew problem. Covering up the problem will help to get rid of the visual/viral aspects but the "reason" for it will still exist. As for application. We have a closet that is closed up almost constantly and it provides access to the crawl space under the house. This crawl space has a musty odor and tends to make for a musty closet that promotes the growth of mold/mildew. We are ... read more looking into a way to "vent" the closet but in the meantime, I have applied a liberal coat of this primer prior to the new paint. It covered the problem and masked the musky odor. Based on the mfg. claims and my use, I see no outbound signs that the mold is present BUT not dealing with the root cause may lead to it coming back. Product is easy to apply, water based making for easy clean-up and not an overly power smell. I'm happy with it!

I was very disappointed to receive a product made in 2009
I wanted a quick dry non-toxic finish. The shellac I received was made in 2009. Zinssers says this product should be used within 3 years. The finish did not dry, and remained sticky. I had to remove it with denatured alcohol, and start over. I purchased a new can (different source) dated 2010, and the finish is dry and very nice. I like the result, but would rather have just done it once.

    Truly an odor blocker
I bought this sealer in the hopes it would mask and block odor from a wood treatment product I applied to my support beams in our crawl space. The odor from the wood treatment was very powerful and seeping up into our living space. The Zinsser B-I-N 1-Gal. Clear Primer Sealer really helped control the severity of the odor.

    It was worth the purchase
I was very pleased with this product. We wanted to seal cabinets from a smoker's house and with one coat it almost totally removed it. We will be appling another coat shortly.

    wood protection
have been using this water sealer on outside wooden steps and small porches for years. Usually apply in the Fall. These are in direct sunlight and get plenty of snow in winter. All the structures are 17 years old and original.

    Exceptional product
I have been painting for 20 years and a licensed paint contractor for 15 of those. This primer does what primer is supposed to do IT STICKS. Get some on your hand and it will take three days to get it off.

    Good primer!
So far so good. Paint has been easy to apply and stayed on nicely. Clean up has been relatively easy too. As far as it being used as a primer, I'm still priming so not sure what it will look like when I apply final color. Only issue was at store as an employee, presumably, moved extra canisters in another spot marked at a cheaper price. We grabbed this thinking it was cheaper price, as there were multiple items there. Ended up being a bit of issue at register, but still for the quality, we're happy with item.

This product has been used in our shop for many years. A dependable finish that is easy to spray.

    Best primer sealer for wood
I stay away from lacquer-based products which also work well, but will kill you early. Oil, water...not good. Alcohol based white shellac BIN by Zinzer (not the fake stuff sold at BMoore dealers) is non-grain raising, fast dry, very sandable and Home Depot online sells it at a great price for 5gal. It arrived in a few days. I'm happy.

    Solves problems
I have a garage with one coat of sprayed contractor grade paint on it in 1987. No sign of any primer and just very thin paint. Sheetrock mud, reg primer, etc., makes this old paint bubble for some reason. And it causes a stain around the bubble. But the Zinsser primer solved all the problems. It wasn't cheap, but it was much easier than scraping and repairing bubbles by the dozen. Paint is very thin but works great. Easy to drip though. Dries very, very fast so correct any errors immediately. ... read more Clean-up is alcohol or ammonia/water. Really dries so fast that it is very difficult to clean-up the tools so I recommend not using really good brushes or rollers. Easier to dispose of than clean. It is alcohol, not oil or water based.

Wall Paper Removal and Drywall Prep
The best solution when removing paper. There is no way to get all the glue off without damaging the drywall. This seals the drywall to allow repairs and additional mud application. Allows the use of regular primer without worry. As an added bonus it sealed a removed popcorn ceiling in the same bath. With confidence I can now renovate my other three bathrooms.

    The Pinnacle of Primer/Sealers
Just finished removing 2800 sq. ft. of popcorn textured ceiling and refinishing it to a smooth surface. Used Gardz over old drywall, new drywall and skimmed surfaces. Followed with two coats of flat white latex ceiling paint. I have several rooms with many windows and I can detect absolutely no evidence of flashing or shadows anywhere. I have also used Gardz to seal walls after removing wallpaper and it worked perfectly as a primer/sealer in that application also.

GARDZ DRYWALL PRIMER - DID THE JOB
Applied primer with roller/brush, covered new MR Drywall (green paper) well, one coat and waited overnight to paint - needed 2 coats of ceiling white paint, 1 coat of a light brown flat wall paint covered well and didn't apply a 2nd coat. My first time for installing new drywall, including the joint compound, and priming. Dry primer had a slight sheen when dry, the paint rolled smoothly over the 'sealed', smooth texture. Ordered a 4 gallon box of Gardz online from HD and received it within 2 days.
