Gray is best primer for color paints
Zinzer 123 is one of the best primers. I used to have an ounce of black colorant added for free to make it gray. Now its done at the factory. Great idea!

    Gray Primer and Sealer
Did what it said it was suppose to do. Covered a blue wall with no problem. I used regular paint a week before without primer and you could not tell I even painted the wall.

Great for applying dark top coats
Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 is a great primer, and now they have it pre-tinted in grey. Perfect for applying darker top coats. I've used Bulls Eye for over 20 years and am always impressed with it's coating and coverage. It does a great job sealing and blocking bleed through, and it adheres and stays on almost any surface. As long as you're applying it to a dry surface it will stick. It rolls great, the odor is pretty strong, but comparable to other primers. Dries to the touch in 30 minutes, top ... read more coat in 1hr for most applications. If it's overly humid where you're painting you may want to wait 1.5-2 hrs before applying the top coat. Washes up great with water.

    This worked great!
I liked this primer. I used it before putting down new paint in my bedroom. I had recently put up new sheetrock and noticed that the paint without the primer would show the dried joint compound through the paint. Even though it was sanded level. This primer took care of that 100%. Looks great! The best part was a water cleanup and I can use this inside or out!

Mixes thoroughly. Applies easily. Good coverage. Low odor
Like many other reviewers of this product, I also have used Zinsser primer for many years because it mixes thoroughly, applies easily, and coverage is very good. Unused product also will last a long time in the can without drying or filming, which reduces waste. My house is clad in cedar siding that is painted gray, so using a gray primer is ideal. You can paint or roll on the primer without runs or drips. The product bonds well to metal and wood surfaces, and accepts paint well. Zinsser primer ... read more dries quickly and cleans up with soap and water. It does have an odor, but it’s low and very tolerable.

    Kilz Premium
I think this is a very good product, covers well and looks great (i use 2 coats). Mine is an old house and has in the past been poorly maintained so it I wanted to give it the best. This product helped do that very well.

    The Best
We took a 100 year old house that was peeling, and had extreme weathered wood and made it look like new. Spray coated and back brushed in, then a light spray coat on top. Painted with a top coat of 100% exterior latex. Wow

    GREAT STUFF!
Smooths and fills in all of the cracks in old paint! I do recommend some light sanding before applying to remove the loose chips. Really thick consistency, so it went on better with a brush than a roller.

    Peel Stop Triple Thick
Peel Stop Triple Thick is a good quality primer for use on aged wood surfaces. This product seals bare wood as well as previously painted areas that have excessive peeling and flaking. The product is thick offering a high build primer that seals the surface it is applied to for the ultimate finish once it is top coated.

    Good coverage
This primer saves money and time in painting. I used it to cover a dark blue wall before repainting in a lighter color. It went on smoothly and dried quickly. It covered so well, I only had to use one coat of the lighter paint. That's a real money saver. No lasting odor either. I would recommend using this primer as part of your paint job.

GARDZ DRYWALL PRIMER - DID THE JOB
Applied primer with roller/brush, covered new MR Drywall (green paper) well, one coat and waited overnight to paint - needed 2 coats of ceiling white paint, 1 coat of a light brown flat wall paint covered well and didn't apply a 2nd coat. My first time for installing new drywall, including the joint compound, and priming. Dry primer had a slight sheen when dry, the paint rolled smoothly over the 'sealed', smooth texture. Ordered a 4 gallon box of Gardz online from HD and received it within 2 days.

    The Pinnacle of Primer/Sealers
Just finished removing 2800 sq. ft. of popcorn textured ceiling and refinishing it to a smooth surface. Used Gardz over old drywall, new drywall and skimmed surfaces. Followed with two coats of flat white latex ceiling paint. I have several rooms with many windows and I can detect absolutely no evidence of flashing or shadows anywhere. I have also used Gardz to seal walls after removing wallpaper and it worked perfectly as a primer/sealer in that application also.

    So see Gardz sealer
The product was as good as advertised. I only wish that I didn't have to order a four pack when I only needed one gallon for my project. I will need more in the future and hope that it will keep until then.

    Great Product! Saved the day!
After removing wallpaper from unprimed walls the drywall looked irreparable. I was was going to skim coat the entire dining room after using this product. I touched up some badly damaged spots with spackle, sanded down all of the damaged drywall with 180 grit sandpaper then sealed it with this product. I decided to prime the walls before skim coating to more easily spot damage. Then a miracle happened... ;) ...the sealant had done such a great job that no skim coat was needed and I could move ... read more straight on to painting!! Saved so much time and money! So glad I found this product!

    Never Thought of This Before
Removed 1978-installed vinyl wallpaper in the bathroom. Was not expecting to see cardboard beneath it (looked like gray shirt-box cardboard). There was also your typical drywall joint compound along the cardboard joints. This product did an excellent job of sealing the different porous material. Easy to apply with a roller and dried quickly. Also easy to tell where you may have missed. Tried one area with just Zinsser Primer white paint; but ended up skim-coating the entire wall(s). Added a coat ... read more of this product over the skim coat and the primer coat adhered very evenly. Had to order this through the mail. Wish they would stock it in the store.

    Problem solving product
This product is quite thin and is designed to soak into wood and sanded drywall. I used it after repairing the drywall around a tub/shower. Previous efforts with normal primer resulted in paint loosening after a few years because of the moisture. This Gardz product penetrates the drywall and seals it from moisture. It dries in an hour or so. It appears to have the characteristics of paint primer, so paint can be applied the same day. It's also useful when repairing exterior wood. It soaks into ... read more filler or deteriorated wood and seems to harden the material - as well as being a sealer. Paint appears to stick to it very well.

    Metal primer
Easy to use and apply. Seemed to be a little thin, so the coverage was not as good as expected. Easy to cover with paint.
