With 1/2 HP, you have the power to handle most average pumping jobs.
This particular pump is best for permanent installations in a sump as it is plastic, and may not hold up to being transported. Being underwater all the time, metal and rust is the enemy of pumps, but with this thermoplastic casing that will be one less thing to worry about.

cord, so when you need to replace the float switch in the future, it is modular and easy to do. Because of the piggyback nature of the switch plug, you need extra space at the outlet for the plug.
A suction screen on the bottom can be removed, cleaned and replaced for those times when you need to service the impeller.
I recommend adding the Superior Model 99555 Check Valve which has adapters for all types of connections. The pump has a built-in air lock hole.
In my case, I needed a pump to drain my pool on occasion for cleaning and servicing. It worked fine for that. And it shuts off (using the float) when left unattended.
While the cord length is claimed to be 10 feet, the usable length is 9.5 feet, so take that into account on your measurements. i wish they would add 6 inches to their cords to account for the part that goes into the pump and switch.
A 3 year warranty is average for these types of pumps.
