Our second Rheem Water Heater Has Not Failed Us.
We purchased this Rheem water heater based on our own experience with a Rheem product and the good reviews this water heater received. We were not disappointed. Our old Rheem water heater was a 50 gallon tank. We are empty nesters but we have grandkids that are always visiting us. Needless to say (even though we are empty nesters) the 50 gallon tank did not provide enough hot water. The plumber installed this water heater with no problems. Got hot water right away and no leaks! We can now take ... read more hot showers without the water getting cold. Yeeeeeeeeeeah. We have been using it for about 3 weeks and so far no problems. Did I see this right - has the reviews on this gone from 5 to over 200. Wow! My plumber recommended this product to another client. Can't get a better recommendation better than that.

    Good water heater so far
Standard water heater. Pretty easy installation. Only been installed less than six months but no problems so far. I researched it and this was the replacement model for a GE branded that was previously installed. That GE model lasted over twice as long as the warranty indicated. I finally got scared to leave it in any longer before it might start leaking. I hope this one is just as good.

Can't be too Quick to Judge!
My Rheem electric heater has been installed for about 4 months now. It was very easy to install and not very difficult to maneuver. I feel the price and ease of installation rates an excellent review! I rate it as Good overall because longevity is the key. What makes the difference is durability and great customer service! If it were to fail within the warranty I would have to rate the ease of resolving the issue.

    Love the design
We purchased as a replacement for our "boiler-attached" water heater. Since we are trying to use wood to heat and eliminate oil where we can, it made sense to pull it off at this point and go electric (with the intention of going solar). Installation was a breeze and the wi-fi module is really cool. We went on vacation and changed the setting with my phone app. I didn't really figure it would work - but about 3 hours before we were to arrive home, we went and set it back to normal and it worked like a charm !

    Issue with electronic controls
I have separate off-peak electric meter for 220v service that has timer that shuts off 220v service to hot water heater for 8 hours during peak daily electric demand period. When power is restored to hot water heater (by timer on meter or after other power interruption), the electronic system sometimes does not automatically restore to ON and has to be manually turned on. Do not know hot water heater is shut off until next day in shower when hot water runs out.

    Good water heater.
The installation was fairly easy. The insulation jacket that came with the water heater was not easily installed because of tight spaces and the actual way that you had to put it on the heater. There could be an easier installation of insulation jacket if the jacket had a better way to secure it in place. It took 2 people to get the jacket in place and "taped" together.

    It works as described
Installed it myself to replace leaking 19 year old similar water heater. Connects just fine. Insulating blanket obstructs access and needs more tape.

I could not believe how easy this was to install. Got a $1350 quote from a plumber, did it my self for less than $400. Use Shark Bite hose fittings, they're increditably easy and don't leak! This seemed way over my head, but it wasn't. Heater works great. Buy the pipe cutter, makes a easy clean cut without damaging the copper pipe. It's easy! I am not a very handy guy.

Good Deal, just what we were looking for
Arrived early and in great shape. Heater came with blanket and keeps the water heater well insulated.

Last water heater you'll need to buy.
Replaced a 17 year old traditional metal hot water heater prior to having a geothermal system installed. Installation was super easy. Obviously with the poly tank you *must* use two wrenches when tightening the hose/pipe fittings in order to avoid breakage. We had hot water the next morning and we're already saving money on our electric bill.

    Very happy so far
I installed this to replace my boiler hot water system for cost savings. My 1st month of use I did not see a significant increase in my electric bill so I may have made a good decision. Though this is a large unit it is easy to move around to get installed. I appreciate the lifetime warranty on the tank and the 7 year warranty on the electrical parts. Since it is not a metal tank I have no rust worries. This is the highest efficiency rating you can get for an electric unless you go into the ... read more world of hybrids. I would rather not have the noise and additional moving parts. There 3 females in the house that use a lot of hot water and it has been continuously available.

    Great Water Heater
Ordered this water heater a few weeks ago. HD matched a lower price at Menards. Delivery was exactly on time, with a lift truck to drop off at my home on pallet. Surprised at how light it was. Had done a lot of research and this unit always came out on top and with a lifetime tank warranty and excellent recovery time. I used this unit to replace 2 80 gallon units that had lasted 28 years. It is well made and installation was incredibly easy- took about 20 minutes total. Had hot water in less ... read more than 20 minutes. All looks great and only hope it lasts 25 years ! Highly recommend.

    So far so good
Ordered and paid for online with pickup at the store. It was waiting for me when I got there so that part was very smooth. This is an electric unit so installation was quick and easy, going into the spot where the old one was with minimal changes only. It took longer to drain the old tank than it did to install this new one. It has been in for a month and it is working flawlessly so far. We are putting the house up for sale in the Spring so this will only help in terms of selling features.

    Great Value & Easy Install
This water heater was very easy to install and I got it at a great price. The blanket that comes with it was a surprise. Normally you have to pay extra for it. The blanket was fairly easy to install. It covers the entire water heater so I think it will be a big help.

    Good Value
I had a problem finding the "short" tank hot water heater and was pleased to find that Home Depot had several in stock at my local store. A perfect fit in the same spot as the old hot water tank. Installation wasn't a problem and within a few short minutes I had hot water!

    Superior Water Heater
The quality of the water heater seems to be excellent, gives more than enough hot water for our household of two. Installation was very straight-forward. So far I am pleased in every way. The only reason for not giving 5 stars overall is that I have only had the unit for one month, and can't attest to its long term quality.

    No major issues.
No problems installing, though I highly recommend that you replace the nipples on the unit with these. EverbiltDielectric Nipple Heat Trap. The ones that are factory installed are just a screen filter.

Easy for the DIY person with a few tips.
This is an easy unit to install since it is only a 3 wire hookup even with 220 V - The only thing they don't tell you in the manual is if you install the water lines with the top nipples that come from the factory, your water pressure will be less so when you purchase this get the dilectric nipples without screens inside and replace the factory top connections with those (they are only $5.00 for 2 of them) to find out if your new heater has the screens take a straw before you hook them up and ... read more carefully put it down into the top connections and you will notice that it will not go all the way in.....(DON'T drop the straw in the tank) One other thing we did was to hook up an electronic timer (Home Depot has a great one for $50 that is made for hot water heaters) and then we set the times on ours to come on in the morning for 2 hours and at night for 3 hours. This means your tank will not be heating for 19 hours and that is a huge savings in electricity! The ONLY reason I did not give this 5 stars is because of the top connections that don't tell you about the screens in the manual. The Techs at Home Depot were GREAT and helped me a LOT as I had never installed a hot water heater like this before with the timer but it was SOOO Simple! I hope this helps someone*

    Seems ok so far
Seems ok so far. It was pretty easy to install. My comments are that the rod that the manual says I should inspect once a year seems hard to remove and the manual doesn't provide instructions on how to do so. Also the manual says to drain a little water from the tank every month for maintenance. The knob is plastic and I wish it were metal. It is at the base of the unit where things could bump into it and crack it.
