    Keeps me in hot water!
The unit was easy to install and has supplied plenty of hot water. This unit replaced a Rheem that came with my house in 1989! The electronic control panel makes it easy to change water temp and also provides a "vacation" mode that lowers water temperature when you are away for extended periods to conserve energy. The tall 50 gallon is only slightly wider then my old 40 gallon Rheem so it fits in the tight space I have while the insulation in the new unit appears quite robust. I really like this unit so far.

Replacement for bad GE water heater
Installation easy, you have to buy the WIFI unit separately, the app to set the WIFI up was a breeze. Really like the WIFI alert for a leak. Glad to see Home Depot has Rheem heaters the heater appears to be a quality unit. The warranty card went to Alabama, looks like a US made unit! I am curious to see the cost savings in economy mode. So far works great for 2 people in economy mode. No issues for setting vacation mode from WIFI APP on departure and return.

    Love the design
We purchased as a replacement for our "boiler-attached" water heater. Since we are trying to use wood to heat and eliminate oil where we can, it made sense to pull it off at this point and go electric (with the intention of going solar). Installation was a breeze and the wi-fi module is really cool. We went on vacation and changed the setting with my phone app. I didn't really figure it would work - but about 3 hours before we were to arrive home, we went and set it back to normal and it worked like a charm !

    Good product
I replaced an 18 year old Rheem water heater with this model. It works well so far. One big complaint is the condition of the product when it arrived. It was severely dented and some of the screws on the casing were pulled out, so I had to repair it. It seems to function properly in spite of this.

Excellent Value - Simply operation/installation - Item in stock at local Home Depot
I needed to replace my 22 year old Kenmore water heater in my 1 bedroom rental unit. Decided on a whirlpool 40 Gallon Electric from Lowes only to find them out of stock and 3 weeks backlogged. Seems that these 'tall' 40 gallon water heaters are not so common. Ran over to Home depot and was delighted that they had 3 of these in stock. Home Depot honored my %10 Lowes coupon. This water heater is very clean looking and attractive. Installed it with minimum skills in about an hour using all the ... read more existing hook ups from my previous heater. I really only need a 25 gallon water heater but these 40 gallon ones are cheaper and so efficient. Rheem is a reputable brand and Home depot has such a great selection of sizes .

    Perfect Fit for Modular/Manufactured Homes
I had to re-plumb the pipes because this one has everything on top but with PEX piping, it was a breeze. Rheem was the only manufacturer that made a tank narrow enough to go in the original area of our manufactured home without relocating it. Thanks Rheem for thinking about us!

Great Quality Nice Looking Too !!!
I am very impressed by the quality and construction of the unit and just looking at it gives you the feeling that it is built to last.Lots of thought went into its design. The only thing I can see that I would change is the height of the base, so that there is a little more room to install the heat return lines. Other than that this is one solid unit.

    Very happy so far
I installed this to replace my boiler hot water system for cost savings. My 1st month of use I did not see a significant increase in my electric bill so I may have made a good decision. Though this is a large unit it is easy to move around to get installed. I appreciate the lifetime warranty on the tank and the 7 year warranty on the electrical parts. Since it is not a metal tank I have no rust worries. This is the highest efficiency rating you can get for an electric unless you go into the ... read more world of hybrids. I would rather not have the noise and additional moving parts. There 3 females in the house that use a lot of hot water and it has been continuously available.

    Very nice unit
Very nice unit. Makes more hot water than we've been able to utilize. High temp mark made for 166F water (we turned it down to something reasonable). Easy install but had a bit of a time getting a leak free seal on the cold water inlet. But... that might just be me. My only complaint is that I wish they'd had made the thermostat covers easier to get on / off and with better fasteners. Other than that, very nice unit.

    Rheem 47 gal short
unfortunately this unit does not have auto circulation which is a nice feature to have to deal with sediment but beggars cant be choosers for this size configuration there are not many options out there. I had it installed by a professional.

    So far, so good...
I've had this water heater for several months now, and it consistently heats water as advertised. For this particular unit, there has been no leaks or other maintenance needed so far. My last water heater lasted 15 years, and my hope is that I get the same performance from my Rheem.

    Attractive appliance???
You bet! One feature water heater and furnace manufacturers (hey you, Rheem) have overlooked until now has been the aesthetic appeal of their product. Not only do I want useful features like long-lasting durability, easy installation, good warranty and affordable pricing I want a water heater that comes in an attractive package that I can't help staring at with a sense of satisfaction. What a difference a nice logo and a tan hue can make when debating between a plain-Jane tank and one that has ... read more some thought behind its appearance! About time! Simple, but efficient
We went to solar power generation and went all electric. Replaced all the propane appliances with electric. We were concerned an electric water heater would raise our electric usage above the baseline we used to size our solar system. This unit is so efficient we are still below our baseline numbers! Installation was simple also.

50 Gal Medium 9 Year 5500/5500 Watt Elements Water heater with LED indicator
My neighbors water heater went out at the same time as mine. He went to the other home improvement store while I went to Home Depot. He also bought a 50 gal water heater. His installation time was about 5 hours. Mine took about an hour. We did his first and I was really dreading getting started on mine, but I was so pleasantly surprised that I bought dinner for all of us. Thanks

Seems to be a good one
It wasn't rated as the most efficient one available & it definitely doesn't have the current wifi/smart gimmicks; but it seems to be a quality basic unit that will fit our needs

    Unsatisfied Customer
We were disappointed when we opened the sealed box and the top of the water heater was dented. It wasn't bad enough to interfere with performance, but you expect an expensive purchase to be in perfect condition. More care should be used during shipping. On the other hand, the performance of this heater is great. It heats the water much quicker than our last water heater.

Works Great, Installation was easy, Good controls.
Our water heater was 30+ years old so we decide to replace it with a more efficient unit before it failed. Installation was a snap with the shark bite install hoses. The digital controls are simple and intuitive. I haven't checked our electric bills to verify just how much our consumption has gone down (we are on a budget plan, so our bill hasn't gone down yet), but operation has been great so far .

    Excellent Water Heater
Replaced an 11 year old 40 gallon gas powered Rheem water heater with a 50 gallon electric heater. Since we added a solar panel system to the house last summer it only made sense to leverage the solar output to the max possible. The LCD display is very nice and sets the water temperature precisely instead of "guess-timating" with an analog dial. The heater is very quiet and works very efficiently when operating.
