    Excellent Water Heater
Replaced an 11 year old 40 gallon gas powered Rheem water heater with a 50 gallon electric heater. Since we added a solar panel system to the house last summer it only made sense to leverage the solar output to the max possible. The LCD display is very nice and sets the water temperature precisely instead of "guess-timating" with an analog dial. The heater is very quiet and works very efficiently when operating.

    Lots of hot water fast
Replaced 14 yo GE 6-yr warranty WH when it started leaking with this one. Consumer Reports says go with the longest warranty model. Time will tell if it lasts. So far performance is way better than the old one. On first fill, water was hot in one hour. It's been a few weeks and family of four can do showers back to back without running out. Looks good and lots of features with LCD panel. Rerouted plumbing and electrical so we could store in garage, instead of laundry room. No worries about ... read more flooding house anymore and wife got extra storage space where WH was before. Pretty easy install in about 5 hours, including new pipes and wiring.

    Issue with electronic controls
I have separate off-peak electric meter for 220v service that has timer that shuts off 220v service to hot water heater for 8 hours during peak daily electric demand period. When power is restored to hot water heater (by timer on meter or after other power interruption), the electronic system sometimes does not automatically restore to ON and has to be manually turned on. Do not know hot water heater is shut off until next day in shower when hot water runs out.

    Water Heater
I almost did not buy this water heater because of some of the reviews. We are retired an only live off SS an the only hot water we've had for 3 years is what we heated up on our stove. We had to save up for this so we did not want to be disappointed with it. I asked home depot if it started to leak can I bring it back an they said yes so I got it. We installed it an i'm so very glad we did it is so nice to have hot water come out when you turn it on. I look every day to see if it is leaking an ... read more so far it is not. So sometimes you have to make up your mind to try or not to try it. So glad we did we have had it 3 weeks now.

    Perfect Fit
This water heater was perfect for the area it needed to be installed in. The price was better than I expected for a special height.

    Good deal
Works like a champ, even had to adjust to a lower temp.

    Reheats fast.
I always liked gas hot water heaters better than electric because they would catch back up faster. This electric one is as fast as any gas one. I almost went thru the hassle of changing to a gas one. I'm very glad that I didn't. I have had several other brand electric units but none of them worked as well as this Rheem.

    Attractive appliance???
You bet! One feature water heater and furnace manufacturers (hey you, Rheem) have overlooked until now has been the aesthetic appeal of their product. Not only do I want useful features like long-lasting durability, easy installation, good warranty and affordable pricing I want a water heater that comes in an attractive package that I can't help staring at with a sense of satisfaction. What a difference a nice logo and a tan hue can make when debating between a plain-Jane tank and one that has ... read more some thought behind its appearance! About time! Now, repeat with the furnace cabinets. Hope she passes the test of time. Send me this survey again in ten years.

    Simple, but efficient
We went to solar power generation and went all electric. Replaced all the propane appliances with electric. We were concerned an electric water heater would raise our electric usage above the baseline we used to size our solar system. This unit is so efficient we are still below our baseline numbers! Installation was simple also.

    Great purchase
Water heater was easy to install and is performing superbly. We are pleased with the output of hot water and the quick turn over rate for taking showers to running the dish washer and washing machine. Would highly recommend this product to anyone.

Rheem has a good name let's hope for the best!
Having just installed it I cannot attest to the longevity of this product, however it was easy enough to install and seems to be a good investment for the money spent.

    Good Product
Just got it installed yesterday and it is working as expected. It is brand new so I can't really say how satisfied I am with it. But' if it lasts as long as the other Rheem water heater I replaced' I will be very satisfied!

    Rheem is on your team
The Rheem Performance Plus 50 is an excellent product. We were concerned that when we had to replace our 80 gal tank with a 50 gal tank, we would run out of hot water too soon. However, the Performance Plus 50 kept up with the hot water use and never ran out, even with all the company we had over the last several weeks. The installation went very smoothly, fitting nicely in the small area of space, and I like the LED indicator lights informing us when either of the 5500 watt elements are on or ... read more off. I also feel more confident with the nine year product guarantee since many other manufacturers have a much less of a guarantee. Finally, I shopped around and found that this Rheem product was very much competitive price wise, saving us $$$. Thank you Home Depot.

    Great Electric Heater Replacement
This replaced my Bradford White 40 gallon with a 6 yr warranty but died after 13 years. I choose this Model for the 9 year warranty to get that same piece of mind since they didn't have a 12 yr in the nearby stores that fit my dimensions. It's been a month and so far so good. I like having the visual LED to show which element is activated. When you first connect everything, the top heating elements will light up first and about 40 min later it will switch to the bottom heating elements. Lining ... read more up and cutting new pipes to fit new dimensions is trickiest part and that's what you will have to be most prepared for. I had help from someone with experience in soldering and cutting copper pipes. Pros: The manufacture date was 1 month prior to purchase. Led heating element lights, 9 year warranty for couple hundred more than base model. Thin enough to fit into existing small laundry room space. Cons: Plastic grommet on the hot water side was not seated properly like the cold side which was flush to the top of the water heater. I wasn't going to go through the hassle of going back to the store. Small attention to details can be made by Quality department since this is not a cheap product.

    Excellent Product
Easy to install. This is a long life quality product. If you get the Shark Bite Stainless steel hoses you'll have this in in less than 30 minutes.

installed this product so quickly , it was very easy and rheem customer service very friendly and answered all my questions , this product is top of the line as it has self cleaning which is an added bonus with the power and led element on the outside of the unit . I'm happy with my purchase

    New heater.
We installed this new unit and have yet to run out of hot water. Really rare find in an electric heater. Our electric bill has noticibly reduced as well. Great buy!

Heater Works Well, Covers not so much
Heater Install went pretty easy. Relief valve was aimed at the rear, so take note on hose lengths needed. The major complaint I had was the poor quality of the self tapping screws used on the covers, they instantly stripped once I set temp and tried to put the cover back on. I will have to find larger screws to hold the plates on now, (they have some tension on them since there is fiberglass insulation directly behind them.

I could not believe how easy this was to install. Got a $1350 quote from a plumber, did it my self for less than $400. Use Shark Bite hose fittings, they're increditably easy and don't leak! This seemed way over my head, but it wasn't. Heater works great. Buy the pipe cutter, makes a easy clean cut without damaging the copper pipe. It's easy! I am not a very handy guy.
