    No electrical power needed.
I wish all water heater comes with adjustable legs so that it can be easier when installing it on sloped ground just like clothes washer does.

Lots of hot water, and fast.
Bought this from Home Depot's website (not stocked in any local stores), but had a different contractor install it, since the one HD uses wanted to charge me more for the install (which involved relocating the new unit about 3 feet away from the original) than the unit cost. I saved about $800 by using a different installer and buying most of the parts they needed. It took 2 guys about 5 hours to get the plumbing moved and hooked up, and to get the venting run out the side of the house. Keep in ... read more mind that this unit needs either a concentric termination kit, which makes a 5-1/2 inch hole in your roof or wall, or two separate 2- or 3-inch vent pipes. I already had one 3-inch vent from the original water heater, so I ended up running another alongside it. This unit was an upgrade from a standard 40-gallon unit. Once it was fired up, I had hot water within 45 minutes. The exhaust fan is very quiet. Since the combustion air is drawn from outside, and there is no pilot, there is virtually no chance of a CO leak. The heater is very energy efficient; it has an energy efficiency rating equal to that of many tankless units. I am very happy with this water heater, and look forward to lower gas bills every month.

Actually special ordered RHE50P (LP version)
Installation cost including adding an expansion tank and metal base pan was 600.00. (Westminster, MD). We are only in the first week but for a power vent his is dead quiet compared to my older State Select. Bought over a tankless as contractor said they were not yet ready for prime time and not what many expected as far as "low maintenance". He also said better value and more reliable than AO Smith Vertex. One opinion of course but I thought I would share.

    Efficient and works great
Very pleased with my purchase so far. The price tag is high at first but I think it will make up for it in efficency. I was curious how much the blower would effect my electric bill so I put my Killowatt meter on it and I was happily surprised. With 1 hot shower a day, 2 loads of laundry a week, and 2 loads of dishes it costs ~40 cents/month. I'm eager to see if there is a significant drop in my gas bill next month. I have the heat set to two settings above vacation mode, which should be ~120F, ... read more and it is still scorching hot. I have not heard the unit run unless I am actively using the hot water as well. Directions for installation were simple and easy to understand.

    So far flawless
Pulled a 1972 A.O. Smith water heater out and replaced it with this one. Install was a breeze, but it's going to have to work flawlessly for the next 44 years to beat the last one's track record.

40 gallon gas hot water tank
I have owned this property from 1986. With olden Rheem water heater use to go as soon as their warrenty period was over. With GE Rheem product, it lasted me lot longer than warrenty product. For example, my home has wsrrenty of 12 years and tank is still functioning after 16 years. On my other property tank had warrenty of 6 years and lastedme 10 years. Now GE has taken out it's logo from Rheem water heater. Hope new water heaters lasts me for it's warrenty period. Do not understand why GE ... read more decided not to put it's logo and support Rheem products any more.

    Good Hot Water Heater
Two people can now take a hot shower at the same time and the water stays hot. Well insulated, good burner to keep the water hot. The box was damaged in the bottom from a fork lift leaving a small dent in the back of the unit with no functional impact. Downside is that this is a good deal, but it has to be special ordered, so I took it with the dent. Rheem # on the side of the tank works great if you have any questions or issues.

    Reheem Water heaters
I purchased the 40 gal Gas 4 years ago and recently the pilot light would not stay lit. It turns out that the Pilot assembly which is covered under the warranty for parts by GE has a high failure rate. Cost to install the new part runs around $160.00 other then the failure rate of the pilot light this tank is a good buy. Note Reheem makes this tank and most other brands i.e. Lowe's etc

Its a Rheem hot water heater
It's too difficult to rate a Rheem hot water heater, that has a six year warranty, after just one month. It looks nice, appears to be built well, did not leak after being self installed, makes the water good and overly hot on the lower setting. Time will tell if it will ever be worthy of a five star rating.

Reheem Perfomance 40 Gal Tall ..Performs !
Yesterday morning I purchased this water heater without any reservations. I installed it myself & a buddy. We took a long time to get my old 20yr old heater, drained, disconnected, and removed. We installed the Reheem with a lot of tweeking ( cutting/sodering) but eventually it was all connected, pilot light igniting system worked flawlessly. I am extremely pleased with this heater, the water is hot! My wife is happy, I'm happy. Thank you Home Depot & thank you Reheem !!

    Install went smooth....
I bought this water heater on 12/14/2012 to replace a blown out unit in a fairly new mobile home (just 4 years old). I was initially leery about this water heater due to marginal review, after purchase, inspection of the unit and installation....I couldn't be MORE pleased! The fittings attached to this new water heater seamlessly.....install was very easy, the only qualm was the lighting of the pilot light...I had to attempt to light it twice, was no big deal, just follow the directions to the ... read more letter and you should have no issues! At this point in time I would recommend a "buy" for this water heater!

    Awesome Unit!
After our previous unit sprung a slow leak we did our homework and found a Rheem unit that fit our price budget. We were so impressed with the features and the energy savings rating that we purchased it over many competitor units. Our new Rheem was installed on October 14, 2014. Its slender design fits perfectly in the previous location. Our Rheem unit performs excellent and gives us peace of mind.

    Replacement for older model
The replacement was relatively easy and it has worked fairly well ever since. I am a little concerned with the thermostat which now needs to be adjusted to a much higher setting to obtain reasonably hot water. I fear that if the trend continues the temperature of the water will gradually decrease until all we will be able to get is warm water.

    More good than bad.
I was concerned that it would not deliver as much hot water as an older model with higher BTU's that it replaced. I can honestly say that I have never run out of hot water in more than 4 months. I must also add one of the parts was defective after installation, but Rheem sent out service the same day. The only real complaint is that the service company did not have the replacement part and I had to wait for two days until it arrived and was installed.

    Great water heater
The insulation job was very easy . The job took no longer than 45 minutes to install .

Just replaced original 20 yr old Rheem that performed flawlessly until eventual inevitable failure from age fatigue. This new one is much quieter, heats very effectively on medium heat setting, installed without issue, and fired up on initial attempt. It's only been in use for 2 days so I'm unable to comment on longevity but the water quality (odor, pressure, temperature) is much improved.

    So far its good
Thought I'd get longer showers than with my 20 yr old old hwt. Not really the case. Both 40g.

Bought this water heater after looking at good reviews online. Pick up was a breeze, went my local store and a employee helped me get it on my truck and off I went. Installing it was just as easy as picking it up. My old heater use to make all kinds of noise when the burner would come on but this thing sounds like it don't work, I mean I had to check a few times to make suretheburner was on. Best heater I've ever owned. Now we'll see how long it last ;-)

    Very Good Unit
The water heater was easy to install, and directions for starting the unit were well-written and easy to follow. Everything works as expected. Operations are reasonably quiet, and efficient.
