Westinghouse WGRTNG199 Gas Tankless Water Heater
The main reason to choose this Westinghouse water heater because the High GPM + High Efficiency + Low $$$. Since I live in Boston, a MA base company is a big plus. Takes only 10 mins to hung the unit on the wall, operations also simple and straight. Most things are automatic, just plug in turn on and set your temperature, then you're ready to go. The only complain is the loud cooling fan which kicks in every time after the unit shuts down, It's for cool down the Heat Exchanger, last about 3 ... read more mins. Since I installed a system with this Westinghouse water heater and a Combi Boiler w/DHW from another brand, so it's twice louder than the other. But the system is in the basement, it won't bother me at all. I also encountered unstable water temperature during my first use, due to the heater shuts down every 20 seconds then turns back on. After went over the User's Manual, found the unit require a minimum flow rate of 2.3 GPM. Then I changed my shower head from a 2.0 to a 2.5 , and reduces the set temperature to 101F instead of 120F. That I could use the hot water straight without premix to keep the unit running. So far it does its job, no problem. The only question is "How long is it going to last?"

    Quality product
Bought this one (over the Rheem, Noritz, etc) for the efficiency rating, stainless steel internals, and GPM specs. It is comparable in price to similarly rated units and (so far) seems to be a solid, high quality product. Contrary to the other review my unit is quite as a mouse. The sound of the water flowing through the pipes is louder than the unit. I installed it myself about 1 week ago -- so any review under say 1 year is really just an opinion -- but I am satisfied with the purchase. Some ... read more details: - FYI, it took 1 week to ship to me via YPC Freight (I'm in San Diego, it shipped from Bedford, MA) - unit is a bit larger than most, and heavier (probably due to the stainless internals) - mounting bracket is simple to install and level out, very easy to hang the unit onto the mount - gas and water intake/output are readily accessed on the bottom, all 3/4" - I used 3" SCH 40 PVC for the flue. Had to get PVC from a plumbing supply store (not Home Depot, Lowes) - I've tried to max it out by turning on 3 showers simultaneously -- it fed them all no problem... maybe if you hit it with the dishwasher, shower and clothes washer it will max out I will update this review if anything changes. Nice to have hot water again, cheers.

    very nice
Install took a good part of a ay. Of course that includes several trips to the hardware store. Instructions easy to fillow. Would recommend that you have a working knowlege of gas line installation. Called customer service and actually got a person. Helped with a question and was up and running in no time.

    Easy to install, works great!!
It was not bad to install, works really well. I would recommend installing insulation on the pipes to help keep the water warm. It says the max temp on this model is 120 and that was not hot enough for us however when I called tech support to ask about it the lady walked me through how to re-program the thermostat to 140! Plenty hot now!!! Hold the up button till it blinks 140 then press the down button to set it.( don't let off the up button till it's set)

    Easy Setup
Since this comes with a power vent it can be install just about anywhere in the house. First I made the holes for the vents and completed the outside installation, followed by mounting the unit on the wall. I did all plumbing work using copper for the water lines and black pipe for the gas. TIP: add a mini Water hammer to the hot water line and Back flow preventer to the cold water. This help with knocking of the pipes when turning on or off the water. I did extra work in the event of having ... read more to flush the entire system by adding two ball valves to allow draining of the hot and cold water lines connected to the drain. Since the system plugs right into the 110 socket there is no need for electric work unless you plan in wiring direct.

We like it. Plenty of hot water
We've been using this water heater for about a month now. Really happy with it. its summer now and keep the thermo set on 114f and have plenty of hot water. comes with easy manual. best part its easy to handle and install and it only heats what ya need. I live in West Texas and our water is extremely hard. I highly recommend a water softener installed upstream of this unit and maybe a small inline filter if you have dirty water or well use. it does have a built in cleanable filter though. I went ... read more with propane after a January ice storm left us without hot water for 5days. this unit needs 120v for use. but draws small amperage for generator use. im running 3 faucets and 3 showers.

Great product, very satisfied with results
While the install was quite a challenge working on a hot roof and in a hot attic, I'm very happy having taken the extra challenge to replace my water heater with a tankless. The special stainless venting is the hardest part to get just right but worth the effort. Endless hot water and a large savings in propane to boot.

ok, but make sure you have everything
got the water heater, going to install it over the weekend, come to find out, that the 3/5 inch vent hose is extremely hard to procure around here, so had to wait another week.

    Pretty nice
These units have really become cost effective....packaged well....installs fairly easily....home owners would have trouble plumbing the unit....the nipple attachments are a little week...too much force will break them....instructions point this out, yet.....

    Better than I expected
I have been completely satisfied with this water heater. My previous experience with tankless left me wanting more, but this one doesn't. Hot water is delivered fast and consistent and I no longer have to worry about my children using all of my hot water.

    9.5 gph works great
Works great keeps 2showers and 3 sinks in hot water. Started to loose pressure after that nothing to do with the heater though. It does take a couple seconds longer to get hot water to the far side of the house. simple and space saving never ending hot water.

    Tankless Hot Water Review
I would reccommend this product to anybody. We purchased this product has a replacment of an older existing tankless system. Important to note, to follow the directions in detail, having a water softner before the system and having the correct gas or lp line to the system is the key. The system has a wonderful safety feature ie. a built in heater to prevent freeze up (excellant) in cold climates. It came with a remote temp. control to be placed in any room of the house to increase or decrease ... read more the water temp. My wife really likes this concept for showers at one temp. and hotter water for washing dishes and clothes. Overall great product.

    Good Item
Unit was fairly easy to install. It is simple to operate and performance is excellent

    tankless heater
Initial installation and operation indicate no problems. Product is performing as expected and I am satisfied as a result. Long term(after warrantee period) trouble free performance is the ultimate objective. Final evaluation can only be made when first problem occurs and cost to repair is known.

Great product- works like it should.
Once installed, all was great. I had Home Depot refer installation to a local plumber. Let's say craftsmanship was lacking by installer. I recommend asking installer what their game plan is and do they have all materials needed to complete job. This guy used old scrap wood from my yard to install unit.

    Hesitant to try this install
A little hesitant to attempt this install after talking to plumbers but pleasantly surprised that it went well. A little time & patience, a few adjustments and it is working great. Highly recommend if you are comfortable working with gas & water lines. Disappointed that the rebate offered was only available if installed by a licensed contractor (should have read the fine print better!) but still a good value.

    Great Water Heater!!!
I bought this as a replacement for an electric tank water heater. I love having hot water on demand! With the old heater I would be lucky to fill my tub... but with the tankless I never run out of hot water. I installed the unit myself. I've never installed anything in my home myself before but I decided to give it a try this time. The directions were easy to follow. I had to install new gas line in my home and move the water lines and the electric wires outside to the heater myself. Yes i got ... read more permits and had my work inspected. Not having to also do the venting was a huge plus for me! The only downside for the install was that I had to buy a service valve kit separately and it wasn't cheap or available when I bought the water heater. I had to wait a couple weeks to order it. The wall mounted remote control that came with the water heater was easy to install and worked instantly and is easy to use. Once I had everything installed, I had hot water within 10 minutes.

    Hot Tub Heater
This product is not advertised as a hot tub heater but I previously had a similar Rinnai heater which was 30 years old and eventually corroded out. The Rheem was the smallest heater that I could buy but seems to do a good job. I haven't had it long enough to know if there are any long term problems. Installation was "relatively" ease as this was a replacement. Only problem I see is that if I unplug the heater, I have to reset the temperature after I plug it in and turn on the remote again.
