Installed around June, so it is too new to determine value. This is the 3rd one we have had to replace in 14yrs., and we have the proper ventilation. It is a pitched-roof attic, so collects more heat, so that may be issue of the replacement frequency, and not necessarily a fault of the product. It just seems they should last longer, so we'll see with this one. Color is good. Was worried it would be more of a dark brown, where our roof is charcoal/black. This model color-matched perfectly.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Thermostat Needed Replacing After ONLY 2 WEEKS!!,

The Master Flow PR3XD fan was installed in our home less than 2 weeks prior to this written review. Last night, I noticed the fan was running overnight when the attic was very cool (we have a walk-in attic, so it's easy to walk in to feel the temperature). The fan's thermostat was set at about 100 degrees and the attic was far cooler than that (comfortable actually).
I also noticed that upon very gently nudging or tapping on the thermostat box that the fan would power on & off intermittently. The thermostat unit simply appears to be a piece of junk.
I called Master Flow tech support and they confirmed based on the diagnosis we discussed that I need a new thermostat.
Note that this fan was a replacement for a fan that had been in this house for 48 years. The old fan actually still worked, but had developed a leaking crack in the exterior cover and I was unable to find a suitable replacement cover. So, that is why I decided to install a brand new complete unit. Looks like that decision was a mistake.
It looks like I should have retained the 48 year old fan and tried to repair the leak. This Master Flow PR3XD is a piece of junk based on my experience thus far. With the first repair occurring in the first 2 weeks of ownership, I suspect I just got myself into years of trouble and repairs with this product.
Master Flow should make tougher thermostat units. I'd gladly pay a little more to know the product is made to higher standards and with better parts.
No, I do not recommend this product.

I Installed this Fan in a 24X36 addition with a lean to style roof. Installation took about 2 hours and it was up and running. I didnt have the ceiling installed yet and with out the fan the addition would get really hot to the point you couldnt work. After installation It dramatically reduced the temp in the whole addition. Now with the ceilings up the addition is cooler than the main house. Fan is quiet and really pulls the air through the overhang out through the roof. Havent had any problems but looks like maintenace would be easy to perform if something would go wrong 7 or 8 screws and whole assembly will come out and mounting flange stays in roof. I have no regrets installing this product in my roof.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Great Attic Fan,

First let me explain this is my fourth GAF Attic Fan. The first three lasted almost 30 years with great performance. I always knew they did a good job, but with this installation I thought I would put this fan to the Test.
Before I tied in to replacing it with the one that was currently installed in my roof, I made a few notes. It was 2:30PM here in Austin, Texas, and I checked the attic temperature which was 130.5 degrees and the outside temp was 101. It took me about thirty minutes to swap out the old motor and thermostat with the New one. I couldn't see changing out my old roof flashing because it was still in good shape.
After I turned the power back on to the fan, I started watching the steady decline in my attic temperature. By 6:00PM, the outside temp was 97 degrees and the attic temp had been lowered to 100.5 degrees. Our AC needless to say sure ran a lot less today than it did yesterday.
These GAF fans are Great but remember, if you have ridge vents like a lot of the Roofing contractors are talking people into these days, this type of attic ventilation will not work.
Yes, I recommend this product.
