I bought the first remote in March 2011. It was easy to program, and worked fine until early 2012 when it started to work erratically. I replaced the batteries but the problem remains with my garage door opener and my gate opener (No. II button). The second remote was bought in August 2011 and developed the same problems earlier than the first one. I contacted Tech support but they were not able to figure out the problem, so I am returning both of them.
No, I do not recommend this product.

This is my second purchase of this remote, and I haven't had an issue with either of them. When I purchased my home, there were no garage door remotes, so I had to buy them. My first unit is still running strong after 2 1/2 years on original battery. I had to buy the second one after selling my car with built-in HomeLink. These have proven reliable and VERY easy to set up. If you can climb the ladder to reach the garage unit, you can program this. It's literally as easy as pushing two buttons. It uses a standard lithium battery you can get at any grocery, electronics, or hardware store.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I have a Genie Pro Stealth, which I believe has intellicode, becuase it has a red led light.
I tried following instructions but they are confusing, and I could not get it to work. I'm a fairly technical guy, I'm the one that programs the VCR (when they had them).
I think what would make it easier is if it explains WHY you are pressing all these buttons. So that way you understand WHAT you are trying to accomplish. Saying "press this button five times" means nothing to me. If you said "pressing this button five times tells the clicker that you are trying to program intellisense 1", it would help me at least know that I'm doing it right. I'm not sure what the problem is.
I need to get a taller ladder, because I got frustrated. I think it will work, but it's not that easy. Probably should just order one from the original equipment manufacturer, but I didn't see one at Home Depot, and I wanted to get one quick.
Since this is a complicated procedure I think it's worth it to have a list of products so you can identify the system with photos to support it. And individual pages dedicated to the programming steps. Sort of like this:
1. Look up your remote on the list of garage door openers.
2. In column such and such you will see the method.
3. If your garage door opener is not found, and it's a Genie, identify if it's intellicode 1 or 2 by looking at the led programming light. If it's red, it's intellicode, if it's blue it's intellicode 2.
4. Follow the instructions for such and such a method.
I was also concerned that I might be re-programming the garage door opener and not my remote. That would not be good, because the other remotes would have to be re-programmed. Explaining what is going on really helps reduce the worry and stress.
No, I do not recommend this product.
