Choosing the Right Outdoor Hot Tub

Choosing the Right Outdoor Hot Tub

The Home Depot carries a wide range of hot tub and spa models to ensure that you’ll find the hot tub that is right for your home and lifestyle. Below you will find the many features and benefits to consider when buying a hot tub and the innovative technology that makes spas more reliable and easier to maintain than you may have thought possible.

Benefits of Hot Tub Ownership
Whether you’re seeking a welcoming gathering place for your family and friends at home or simply looking to unwind after a hectic day, a spa can provide the perfect addition to your backyard. Equalized jet power combined with maximum water flow creates a relaxing getaway for all of your guests. The therapeutic benefits of warm, jetted spa water are well known. Hydrotherapy has been shown to relax tired and aching muscles, improve mobility and range of motion, assist respiration and increase blood circulation. Consult your physician about the specific benefits of hydrotherapy and if it is right for you.

Key Selection Criteria
There are many factors to consider when deciding which outdoor spa is right for you, including:

  • Number of People: 2 and-4 person hot tubs offer the simplicity of plugging into a standard 120-volt outlet and enjoying a hot tub experience. The 3-person Riviera hot tub uses a 120-volt standard household outlet, but can be converted by an electrician to a 240-volt outlet. The 6-person Gilbralter spa offers one of the most economical choices for entertaining and provides contoured bucket seats and a lounger. The 7-person Palmero hot tub features a lounger that allows upright seating to accommodate more people. Stepping up to an 8- person hot tub spa offers maximum entertainment value and many added spa features. 6 and 8-person hot tubs require a 240-volt outlet.

  • Number of Jets: Jets are positioned for optimum performance with settings ranging from power surge, which creates a lively swirling action, to direct-pressure flow, resulting in a narrower stream for more intense therapy on a specific area of your body. The Corsica hot tub model offers the 14 nozzle Turbo Blaster Massager, plus dual adjustable neck and shoulder jets.

  • Features in Select Models: May include features such as lounger seating for maximum relaxation; the WOW Sound IPOD/MP3 ready stereo system that also includes two waterproof speakers mounted directly into the shell of the outdoor hot tub; a starburst LED light system that illuminates the water in a rainbow of colors; and adjustable, cascading waterfalls that add to your overall hydrotherapeutic experience and tranquility.

Energy Saver System
Water Heater

These energy efficient systems save you money by lowering your electrical costs:

- Exceptionally designed to contain, recycle and reuse the heat generated inside the control cabinet. This heated air is captured and returned to the hot tub’s water, which continually helps maintain the water temperature without running the heater as often.

- Foamed cabinets eliminate air infiltration and provide a highly insulated barrier to aid in maintaining spa water temperature. Heat inside the cabinet is transferred through the spa shell to help maintain the temperature of the spa water.

- Smart sensor technology employs corresponding sensors that monitor each other to regulate spa functions (water flow, temperature), assuring a proper operating environment for the heating element and to eliminate excessive cycling.

Energy saving technology is featured in the Valetta and Cantania hot tub models, ensuring energy cost savings all year round.

Maintain Spa
Maintain Your Spa

Proper routine maintenance can help you keep your hot tub trouble-free. Easy-to-follow instructions provided at the point of purchase explain how to care for the various components of your outdoor spa:

- The Lucite-Xtra™ acrylic surface is easily maintained with a sponge and mild soap; no additional polishing or waxing is needed to keep its lustrous appearance.

- The Hydro-Pure™ water purification system keeps spa water crystal clear; maintenance is easy with a built-in top load filter that automatically dispenses the correct amount of sanitizer into your spa water.

- The Balboa™ inline heater with smart sensor technology regulates water flow and temperatures for effective sanitation and spa safety.

- The optional ozonator can be easily installed and will automatically sanitize spa water in conjunction with a sanitizing agent to cut your usage of bromine and chlorine in half, saving you money on spa chemicals.

Spa Quality
Spa Quality

The Home Depot carries hot tubs that are engineered for strength, beauty and easy maintenance. Each hot tub undergoes a 50-point inspection to insure flawless performance:

- Synthetic redwood color cabinets are known for their rich, beautiful appearance and long-lasting durability. Access panels are fully removable making service a breeze.

- Shells are manufactured with a patented three-layer strengthening process called Dura-Bond™, an exclusive process that combines the beauty of Lucite-Xtra™ cast acrylic with a layer of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) plastic for shell strength and integrity and a rigidizing foam that adds strength and insulation to the spa shell.

- The Lucite-Xtra™ acrylic sheet is a non-porous material that resists stains like build-up of lotions and body oils which can ruin non-acrylic spas, and keeps its shine and color despite sanitizing chemicals, high temperatures and exposure to sunlight. The durable surface resists chipping, cracking and denting.
