Step 1

Step 1: Read the instruction manual Open the SmartCode™ Lever package and make sure you read through the instruction manual before beginning installing your SmartCode™ lever. Next, remove all old door hardware and check to make sure the hole in your door matches the door hole template provided in the SmartCode™ Lever packaging.
  

Step 2

Step 2: Install the latch

Install the latch. The latch has two settings one with 2-3/8” and the other with 2-3/4”. Slide the latch to the setting that fits your door. Then screw in the latch to the door with the screws provided.

Step 3: Install the exterior keypad

Install the exterior keypad. Pick up the exterior keypad assembly, the mounting plate, long lever screws, and half-round spindle. Place the exterior keypad on the door and route the keypad cable through the bottom of the latch. Bring the mounting plate to the back side of the door and thread the keypad cable through the top hole on the mounting plate.

Step 4: Install the half-round spindle into the latch Install the half-round spindle into the latch through the interior side of the door.

Step 5: Install the interior assembly

Install the interior assembly. First remove the upper cover and battery pack from the interior assembly and place aside. Align the keypad connector with the connector port of the interior assembly, matching notch to slot. Once aligned, push the connector in firmly to connect. Next, tuck any excess wire back into the door hole through the mounting place. Place the interior assembly on door, aligning the spindles with the spindle slots of interior assembly. Once flush on door, insert and tighten the small screws to secure the interior assembly onto the mounting plate.

  

Step 6

Step 6: Set the handing of the levers

Set the handing of the levers. To set the proper handing of the levers locate the set-screw on the lever shaft. The correct positioning of the set-screw should be on the side of the lever shaft that is opposite of the latch. If the set-screw is on the opposite side of the latch than there is no need to move the set-screw. If the set-screw is on the same side as the latch than use the hex wrench provided in the package to unscrew the set-screw than move the set-screw to the side opposite from the latch.

Step 7: Install the interior lever

Install the interior lever. Place the interior lever on the lever shaft and tighten down the set-screw with the hex wrench provided.

  

Step 8

Step 8: Install the exterior lever and cylinder

 

Install the exterior lever and cylinder. First place the cylinder inside the cylinder shaft on the keypad and remove the key. Next place the lever over the cylinder. Note: the lever will not fully seat back into the keypad assembly. Insert the key back into the cylinder and turn to the right 90 degrees (until the key is horizontal). Then push the lever and cylinder back into the keypad assembly. Finally tighten down the set-screw on the lever shaft.

Step 9: Insert the batteries Insert the batteries and program the SmartCode™ Lever per the instructions found on the interior of the lock. To program additional codes or to take advantage of many other customizable features of SmartCode™ Lever, please refer to the instruction manual.
