This is my local store. I've been frequenting home depot for years as I do a lot of gardening and DIY projects. The employees in the garden department are ALWAYS helpful & pleasant. I can't say the same for the employees inside. On my last visit (before yesterday) I completed an online in store pick up order. I approached the customer service desk, at which point, the gentleman behind the counter walked away not to return. I waited about 10 more minutes before a young lady came over and asked if I needed help. I told her I had placed an online in store pick up order about 3 hours earlier and I was there to pick it up. She looked up my name and asked if I was there to pick up doors. When I told her that I was not, and took out a copy of the receipt that I had printed earlier that day. She then informed me that no on had pulled my order. She asked me if I had 15 minutes to wait and she would gather my things. Obviously at this point that was my only option. I sat for about 20 minutes, before asking for a manager, as no one had come by to see if I needed anything, and no one had come back to let me know that it was taking longer than expected. Once I was able to speak to the manager, she offered to help the young lady complete my order and get me out of there immediately, this after asking the girls at customer service why my order wasn't filled. With much attitude, they informed both the manager and myself that they had just gotten back from lunch. Now three and a half hours after I placed my order, I had a hard time believing that their lunch break was what completely inconvenienced my day. Another 15 minutes later, one of the girls from the customer service desk came to inform me that what was taking so long was that they didn't have the microfiber towels that I had ordered, and paid for, in stock. I ordered two packs of 6 microfibers. Right next to the customer service desk was a pack of 15. Rather than waste more of my time, they could've offered me this package and sent me on my way. 4 hours after I submitted my order, and somewhere about an hour of waiting in the store, I was finally on my way home. This is a service that should not be offered if it can not be honored. Everyone at the customer service desk pointed a finger at someone else. I am not looking to blame any one individual. The reason I placed the order online was to save myself time. Home depot is very large & it can be very hard to find everything you're looking for. I could've spent that hour picking out the items myself, but I figured since the convenience is offered, why not save the hour and spend it on getting my project done sooner. I couldn't have been more wrong. Other stores offer similar conveniences, however they follow through on their offers. Needless to say, I haven't returned to home depot for anything other than my garden needs, as the garden department is like its own world out there, and the staff is always very pleasant and helpful.
