Today was a great day for me at my Home Depot store that I do all of my shopping at., and here's why. I didn't have a huge expensive purchase going on, but I was afforded special and acute attention by 4 great San Diegans. I am someone who has trouble dealing with people and it has cost me quite a lot over the course of my life. Without veering off the subject and divulging to much information about my condition /circumstance. I am someone who doesn't have a vehicle, has been out of the workforce for 4 yrs now, and am more comfortable in life going at it completely alone. Don't get me wrong I am accomplished and at my 41 yrs of age, I have attended college, received a degree, and was a proud Union worker in the Pipe fitting trade in Austin, TX for 7 yrs and then here in San Diego for another year. Finally helping with the UCSD La Jolla expansion in 2012. This is top-tier industrial construction for those of you who are not familiar with the trade. It is physically and mentally demanding on many fronts. The push to get it done is something that eventually wound up exacerbating my "condition" to where I could not maintain my "condition" any longer and had to step out of the workforce to address it completely with the help of medical professionals. Physically, the job wrecked my feet, as I have flat feet and now have to wear orthotics for life. I have tried to do my best as to give back to the cookie jar by actively participating in charity groups such as Habitat for Humanity and the Kushner Food Bank in Mira Mesa. that said 4 yrs of being in the "system" is 4 yrs to long. I am getting ready to go back to school, work part time and spend the rest of my years trying to figure what type of essential work I can do that will provide me with a future her in the great and golden state of California and furthermore do work that matters and keeps California as the richest state in the Union. Now a big part of this is being focused and well rested. I purchased a memory foam Mattress 2 yrs ago and it wound up failing. Mattress companies build them to fail these days it seems, and I sure couldn't afford another one. Through YouTube and internet research I came up with a relatively inexpensive fix. You stick a piece of plywood in the darn thing as to address the snagging issues. This is where Home Depot came in and saved the day. I was concerned on how to get it home. As I mentioned before, I am somewhat of a hermit. And because of my present financial situation, I could not afford to rent a truck to get it home myself. Johnny, the daytime manager was so sympathetic to my situation that he wound up giving me a discount on the piece and said he would have it delivered for free. I was so taken back by his kindness and understanding that I just had to share with you guys. Leslie, who relayed most of this information to him on my behalf before I went to the store to pick the piece, was a joy to do business with. She is young, motivated, and offers you a smile as often as she can to keep things light friendly and easy. When I went to the store today Johnny, as busy as he was, offered me 15 minutes of his day to pick the right piece. I chose a 3/4 4x8 prefinished peice of birch plywood. I liked that it was prefinished because it meant I wouldn't have to worry about a porous piece which could potentially absorb moisture and develop mold as a result. It is going into a bed after-all. As an added measure, I asked if he would allow me to shrink-wrap it myself at the store for added layers of protection. He completely understood and totally agreed. Pretty great Johnny, thanks again. He called over his lumber guy Chris N, a giant of a man like myself, and he was absolutely cool about everything. Big guys tend to be real kind an gentle people and I saw that in his eyes right away. He was a genuine man who cared about getting it cut down to my specs ASAP and furthermore saying that he would pick a nice piece for me. Lastly, I'd like to thank Shardae, for putting the "cherry on top" so to speak. When Leslie and I were punching in everything into the computer and I was making here aware of how I wanted it as protected as possible on it's journey to my house, hence the plastic wrap, she offered some beautiful and highly technical advice to Leslie that was sure to make the delivery a success revitalizing my worn down mattress. 4 people took care of me yesterday on a $25 dollar purchase out of having my back and wanting me to succeed in getting back to work. I am proud to write this review for them and will re post it on Google and on Yelp. I also did the survey for them, called corporate and told them about Johnny and Leslie 2 days ago, and will do that for Chris N. and Shardae today. I've been loyal to Home Depot for more than half of my life and it's because of people like these that I will continue to be so.
Great Job, God bless and thank you for your time
