The only thing I have ever had a problem with was when I tried to return a Swifter Duster that used individual yellow colored duster tops and after I used the original one that came with the handle and tried to put a brand new clean one on, it wouldn't stay put. I had to use a rubber band to keep it on the handle. There were no detailed instructions showing how to install the replacement duster "tops". I wasn't very satisfied with this Swifter Duster unit, so I tossed it into my trash bin at home. I had purchased 2 of the Swifter Duster Handles and one Plastic container with replacement tops. I used all the tops (by securing them onto my Swifter Duster with my rubber bands). When I had used all of the "tops" then I tossed out the plastic container that they came in and put the "spent" container into my trash bin. Within the time frame that I had originally purchased this Swifter Duster and replacement "tops", I decided to return the Swifter Duster Handle that I never used. I took it along with my INVOICE and when I got to the Customer Service Desk. I asked the clerk if she would refund me for the Swifter Duster products that I had recently purchased. She told me that she could not do this because I DIDN'T BRING IN EVERYTHING THAT I HAD PURCHASED. I told her I was not satisfied with the SWIFTER DUSTER handle that I USED and had tossed it into my TRASH BIN, as well as all of the "Tops" that I had used, as the tops were dirty so I tossed them out. SHE REFUSED TO HELP ME, STATING THAT I HAD TO BRING IN BOTH HANDLES and all the Tops, IN ORDER TO GET MY REFUND. HOW could I do that? When I had put them in my TRASH BIN at home and no longer had them? I WAS SO MAD AT HER THAT I GAVE HER MY RECEIPT AND THE BRAND NEW UN-USED SWIFTER HANDLE AND WALKED OUT OF THE STORE. SHE wanted me to take them off her counter and I refused. I DID NOT LIKE WHAT SHE WAS TELLING ME. SHE TOTALLY REFUSED TO GIVE ME MY REFUND MONEY OR EVEN STORE CREDIT. AS I COULD NOT GIVE HER THE USED TOPS OR THE HANDLE THAT DIDNT WORK. SHE COULD SEE THAT I did not even open the 2nd Swifter Duster Handle and she could keep it as I only wanted my money back on this INFERIOR PRODUCT. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME, EVER IN MY LIFE THAT I COULD NOT GET A REFUND ON A HOME DEPOT ITEM THAT WAS NOT SUITABLE TO USE. I had purchased 2 Swifter Duster "fold up" handles (the short boxed items) and one container of extra tops. I only was able to bring in one of the Swifter Duster handles as that was the one that I never even bothered to open. I did not like the product at all. The Customer Service RETURN Clerk was helpful at first, then she got angry at me and called her manager who also said SHE COULD NOT REFUND ANY OF MY SWIFTER PRODUCTS UNLESS I PRODUCED THEM ALL. THAT IS SO CRAZY...HOW DOES ONE bring in something that was discarded? I did BRING IN MY RECEIPT AND THE UN-USED ITEM. CLEANING ITEM THAT I HAD NOT OPENED. My 2nd Swifter Duster Handle was still in it's original box. To me, that was PROOF enough that I indeed had tried ONE of the HANDLES, BUT WAS NOT SATISFIED with the way the tops would fall off when used. That is why I came up with the idea of using a rubber band to hold the top in place. I NO LONGER HAVE MY Paper RECEIPT, proving that I had made the purchase. I left it and my unused Swifter Handle and walked out of the STORE. I have never had such an embarrassing experience with Home Depot.
Next time, I will bring in all of my dirty, used tops and everything I can think of, IF I EVER purchase another Swifter Product. I, normally keep a record of every single transaction with Home Depot. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER LEFT my RECEI?T at any counter in Home Depot. I still go back to Home Depot and purchase many items. I do love your store, just not all that Happy with the last time I tried to return an inferior product and was turned down. I suppose the clerk was only doing what she had been taught to do. And I was caught off-guard. How was I to know that I was supposed to bring in all my used up, worn out, dirty Swifter tops as well as the handle that I tossed into my Trash Bin. She told me that in order for me to get a Full REFUND , I had to bring in each and everything I had purchased with my Swifter Duster Handle....but I didn't have them, they had been tossed out with my trash.
