Going to Amazon from now on. Cheaper and don't have to deal with poorly qualified associates.

The store is in a "distressed" area. Former "big box" shopping center. 3 of the 4 stores closed down leaving HD on it's own. Parking lot's pretty trashy but the store itself is fairly well maintained. Typical of these types of stores is that they cater to the construction industry vs the homeowner / DIY'rs. Sometimes they have personnel available for questions on the floor, sometimes you have to hunt them down. Too bad there's not a better way of signaling for help, but that's not just a HD issue. Most of the big box stores have it too. Employee help -wise is where it can be uneven. I'm sure they are all assigned duties they must complete within some specified time, so when someone asks for help this must put a hold on getting their other work done. Some employees can do this cheerfully while it's a little harder for others to put that smile forward. I get it that they want to get their work done but unfortunately that's part of the customer service thing. I don't know if there is a disconnect between local management and the corporate office regarding expectations of the employees. I have an issue with management expecting all employees to give 100% customer satisfaction but not allowing them the appropriate amount of time to do that and get their job done. That's not a fun atmosphere, but I fear that's the prevailing theme in many of these chain stores.

The store was fresh, inviting and the professional assistance I received in lawn/garden made my project much more successful. I would drive back to this particular store just for the advice!
