I recently went to HD to get assistance on a Rustoleum product that didn't work out well at all. I purchased 2 boxes of Rustoleum Rock solid floor paint in Sept but didn't get a chance to use it until now. I used the 1st mix and I was only 1/2 way done so I applied the 2nd mix to complete the job, barely. I noticed the two jars of metallic mix were different sizes, but I had to finish the job. When mixing the paint it was DARK but after I applied it and it dried, it was almost crystal clear. I was not happy. I took my 5yr old with me to HD to see what can be done. At the customer service desk the 1st employee didn't ask what I wanted help with and just picked the boxes up and said" these are empty". I tried to explain but she knew it was over her head and said "let me get a manager" which was right behind her. His name was Jack and approached the counter with no introduction and just stared at me. He didn't say "good evening Sir, what can I help you with"? He was already in a negative mood. I tried to explain that the paint did not do what it says it would and that the two jars of metallic mix were different sizes. I explained I had a receipt and over 30 pics of the job so he could see I was telling the truth. He didn't seem to care and looked quite aggravated and said " we do not accept this product back in the store and you need to contact the manufacturer". But it seemed he was almost willing to give a refund ( which is not the reason for my visit) he turned and looked at the receipt and said "woah this was purchased in Sept"! I replied "Yeah so". He asked me "has the product ever been frozen"? I said "no It has been in my laundry room and I just now had the oppotunity to use it" I also said "I've been working with material like this for 20 yrs man". He assumed I was a moron and didn't have a clue on how to treat the product. He mumbled something about a 90 day policy or something as he wasn't speaking to me but another employee. He said "let me contact Rustoleum and speak to them about this". He got a rep from Rustoleum on the phone and handed me the receiver. I stood there for 10 min giving the rep the info she requested but Jack took off. Rustoleum asked for my photos and said they would try and refund my money if all works out well. I was seeking two more boxes so I could finish the job for my customer not a refund. But no one had asked me why I was in the store in the 1st place. From the beginning of my visit Jack treated me awful. He was obviously irritated and he did absolutely nothing for me and my concerns but dial a number to Rustoleum and walk away! I own a small business, and built houses with the family business. I've worked as a paver, a Handyman and I'm responsible for over 200,000 sq ft of maintaining building space. I have spent 10's of thousands of dollars at HD over the years and this is the 1st time I have ever been treated like dirt. I've only returned one item in all these years to HD and that was a paint sprayer gun that didn't work right out of the box. The employee treated me AWESOME! He took the sprayer back and his customer service skills were top notch. He gave me a generous discount on a new sprayer that was 4 times the cost of the 1st sprayer.This was NOT the case this time. It is too bad I felt the need to give this review as my relationship with HD over the years has been great! Jack's perforance was surely poor to say the least, and he should really think hard the next time on how he treats his customers. I am not some do it yourselfer , a weekend warrior! I have experience, know how, weathered hands and a strong back. The work I do, Jack, is done with sweat, brains and respect for MY customers!! If I acted and treated my customers the way you do, I wouldn't be where I am now.

On my one visit today. some employees were friendly, but one had a bad attitude and was rude. She acted like I was bothering her tremendously to ask a question. I don't understand what makes some employees act so rude and/or bothered by a customer coming up to ask a question. Quick reality check: you work at a store, your job is to help people and be normal/friendly. If you don't like your job, quit!
