Needed a replacement cartridge for a Delta Monitor shower faucet, actually only needed a gasket repair kit but all the similarly packaged items were non-type or model specific. There were 3 different cartridge selections to choose from and they are not interchangeable, I asked the sales associate what the difference was and identified the model I needed the replacement for, he tells me 'Uh they're for different models... I don't know anything about them." and walks away. No offer to point me in another direction or to find another associate who could assist. Never had a negative experience in HD in over 30+ years until yesterday. Ended up buying one of everything possible to compare at home, the rest will be returned for refund. It shouldn't have to be that way especially when the choices run between $29.97 - $39.98 and packaged in clamshells which don't allow you to see or inspect the item for details.
One other thing, more so a stocking recommendation. If I weren't already familiar with this store's layout it would have been an even more painful shopping experience. Replacement parts for plumbing items should be shelved in the same location, toilet repair with toilets, faucet repair with faucets, etc. The faucets and toilets are located up front in prime viewing, the repair components tucked away in the back recesses of the store behind the kitchen appliances & remodel area and at waist level or lower which makes finding the items difficult. This makes as much sense as stocking wood dowels in the rear area of the lumber department where the remnants are kept.
