Customer Questions & Answers

how do they connect

Asked by: spanky
To connect these pieces to the 5' long sections of the Micro Drain Channel, you need a coupler. Each section of the Micro Drain Channel comes with (1) coupler hidden inside of it. Double check each section before leaving the store to ensure one is there. They also sell them individually. To connect the 1 1/2" bottle outlet to a piece of 1 1/2" PVC, you will need a 1 1/2" PVC Coupler as the bottom outlet is the same size as a section of the PVC Pipe (both are Male, so a female coupler is required). Cheers!

Is using the bottom outlet optonal?

I want to hook a bunch of these units together and slope them so the water runs down the channel and away from the edge of my patio, connecting to an in-line pipe at the end, in which case I won't need to use the bottom drain. Is that possible to do, or is the bottom outlet the only way to get water to drain out of the channel? Thanks.
Asked by: Zeppo
Yes, this is possible, but not as you describe. They do not make a "side outlet adapter" for the edge of the 5' long micro drain channel. You could install one of these at the end of the channel and then let the water run out the bottom, into a 1 1/2" PVC pipe, which feeds into the drain pipe you mentioned. However, you need to consider how much water the drain will be collecting. Since in this scenario, there is only one exit point, only so much water can escape at one time. Cheers!

Or can you get sticks of this stuff

Example: I have looked at the manual and can't figure out what I did wrong.
Asked by: Sean
I am not sure I understand what you are asking, but this part attaches to the 5' long micro-channel drain pieces for the drain portion. A 1 1/2" PVC Coupler attaches to the bottom of this part, and to the 1 1/2" piece of PVC that is routed where you want water to go (larger drain pipe, basin, etc. If you can expand on your question, I am confident I can help you out. Cheers!

Customer Reviews

1-1/2 in. PVC Micro-Channel Bottom Outlet is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Results In Desert Climate We live in the Southern California Desert, so we are lucky if we get 1" of rain every year. So with that said, this is used mostly to collect and divert water splashed out of the pool and hose water off of concrete patios. For this application, it is by far the best value, by far. I installed 60' of the Micro Drain on one project and 45' on another. Both went the entire length of the patio and after three years, the first one still looks brand new (as does the second one which was just finished). This bottom drain outlet worked great (you will need a 1 1/2" Female PVC Coupler to connect the PVC to this). When small debris end up inside this piece, the water can get backed up. Although it only takes the hose with a stream nozzle right against the top of this piece to dislodge anything, and clear the back up. Also, this is PVC, so typical PVC Glue works great which is a huge plus! Cheers!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job! It's fairly attractive and a lot less expensive than many alternatives. It is as easy to install as any other deck drain, I would think. Of course you have to support it, cement it in, and make sure it is sloped for drainage and provide a place to run the water off, but it seems to work well and it solved a deck problem for us during a remodel.
