Hi there. I had a bad clog in a laundry sink related PVC. Couldn't get it with a snake or plunger etc.

Decided to cut the PVC pipe which runs" after the "P"trap about 6 feet to the larger(4x4") PVC main sewage drain. Now I could straight shot the clog and push it with a pole to clear the clog from the 1.5 inch PVC into the 4 inch PVC sewage drain into ground. Problem gone. Now I need to re- attach the 1.5 inch tube back together. I decided to use this coupling instead of a permanent glue and connector so that this area can be accessed again in the future if any problems. Do I use a 1.5 inch "coupling " for connecting 1.5 inch PVC or do you have to go 2" inch to fit it on? I'm thinking "yes" obviously but wasn't sure. Thanks kindly

This will fit "over" 1.5" PVC. I did a similar repair (except on a sump pump) and used this to connect the new discharge pipe from the pump to the existing piping, rather than gluing everything together.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tip on removing Fernco coupling I used Fernco coupling to install sump pump to check valve. If you might remove the coupling from pvc, here's a tip. Coat pvc surface with petroleum jelly. Insert pvc into coupling. If separation is difficult/impossible, then heat coupling with blow dryer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great for my application I was installing a new sump pump and needed to make a new outlet pipe. Instead of having to buy an elbow and meet up with the current location of the check valve, I decided to just cut the current outlet pipe off below the elbow, and use this to connect that old piece to the new outlet pipe out of the sump pump. Now, if the pump has to come out, I just need to undo this one coupling and pop the outlet pipe out and I am good to go. Just make sure those hose clamps are tight.
