Answer:
Hello Rataba, I’m Chris from the Home Depot’s how-to Community. Thank you for your question.
No. While in the specs it says that this Fernco fitting is made of PVC, actually that’s a typo, and it is a rubber connector. The hose clamps provided will effectively seal this connector to a variety of pipe materials, including PVC pipe. PVC glue will not work.
I hope this helps,
Chris.

Hi there. I had a bad clog in a laundry sink related PVC. Couldn't get it with a snake or plunger etc.

Decided to cut the PVC pipe which runs" after the "P"trap about 6 feet to the larger(4x4") PVC main sewage drain. Now I could straight shot the clog and push it with a pole to clear the clog from the 1.5 inch PVC into the 4 inch PVC sewage drain into ground. Problem gone. Now I need to re- attach the 1.5 inch tube back together.
I decided to use this coupling instead of a permanent glue and connector so that this area can be accessed again in the future if any problems.
Do I use a 1.5 inch "coupling " for connecting 1.5 inch PVC or do you have to go 2" inch to fit it on? I'm thinking "yes" obviously but wasn't sure. Thanks kindly

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by made life easier this was my first time doing any kind of plumbing. i installed a new counter top and sink. the old trap didnt line up properly with new sink drain. trmed a couple inches off old drain pipe. used this flexible coupling, and done. easy peasy. didnt have to deal with glue and a mess. would recommend to any rookies like myself. sure made the job easier for me. thanks. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked great for my application I was installing a new sump pump and needed to make a new outlet pipe. Instead of having to buy an elbow and meet up with the current location of the check valve, I decided to just cut the current outlet pipe off below the elbow, and use this to connect that old piece to the new outlet pipe out of the sump pump. Now, if the pump has to come out, I just need to undo this one coupling and pop the outlet pipe out and I am good to go. Just make sure those hose clamps are tight. February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fit as required The coupling fit appropriately and has minimal movement to restrict wear on the item. I am happy with the product. July 21, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tip on removing Fernco coupling I used Fernco coupling to install sump pump to check valve. If you might remove the coupling from pvc, here's a tip. Coat pvc surface with petroleum jelly. Insert pvc into coupling. If separation is difficult/impossible, then heat coupling with blow dryer. December 11, 2012
