While replacing the drain on a bathroom sink, the wall tube came out and the part that had been hidden in the wall was corroded. I'd like to replace the entire p-trap with plastic pipe, but I'm not sure of what to use to attach it. There's ABS pipe extending from the wall and the outside diameter is 1-3/4" and threaded. (The part that is inside the wall is 2-1/4" O.D. and not threaded. A metal liner extends 1-1/2" into the opening beginning from the outer edge of the threaded pipe.) The inside diameter of that threaded pipe that extends out is 1-3/8" so the old 1-1/4" pipe must have been loose in there. The metal connector that I unscrewed from the outside of the pipe has a 1-1/4" opening to accommodate the wall tube that goes into it and is 1-3/4" I.D. where it screws onto the threaded ABS. I've seen various connectors, but none with the dimensions of the old one. I wondered if this product would work and if there would be a problem with leakage if the larger end is forced over the threaded protruding abs pipe. I can't find a new metal connector and can reuse the old one, but would at least want to replace the washer. Not sure what to do. Sorry about all the details, but I tried to anticipate questions.
