We paid for a delivery and installation of a new stove. We expected the installation kit to include whatever adapter they needed to handle the installation,. We were wrong. Now we are being told that we have to change gas line to 5/8". We want to just use an adapter. which one would we use?

Answer:
Adapters can be used to make the connection, but just because your new stove is hooked up does not mean that it will receive the proper amount of gas. If the manufacturer of your stove specifies a 5/8" connection, that means that the gas supply line feeding it must be 5/8" or greater. A 1/2" inch gas feed will not be able to deliver the same amount of gas as a 5/8" or larger gas line. If you were to use Read More

If you were to use an adapter to step-up from your 1/2" gas line to a 5/8" gas appliance connector, it is most likely that your stove will not produce the maximum heat (BTU) that it claims it is capable of. I recommend that you follow your stove manufacturer's specifications and install a larger gas line to it. Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Absolutely no issues I redid the gas lines supplying the dryer, range, water heater and furnace with these fittings - no leaks no issues. I did use a file to smooth any burs and rough cuts before attaching the fitting. Also as indicated in the instructions you only turn the nut, not the center part of the fitting when tightening - this keeps the non-metallic gasket from being cut up by the tubing as it compresses. No leaks at all. September 30, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good product Pretty easy to use. You have to watch out for the little rubber gasket as it can fall out and is very difficult to put back in. I wet it a little bit to make it slide easier on the CSST pipe. July 9, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by It does the job nicely The directions were clear and easy to follow. This is a LOT faster and easier than black pipe. August 13, 2013
