Home shower installation

In a home shower installation, can I use 1/2 " pvc instead of copper tubing? Will pvc stand up to hot water?
Asked by: Bil72par
pex yes! invest in a good crimper one that does 1/2 and 3/4 should take care of most of house. shark fittings ( or gator or some good brand) for change overs from copper to pex. they are pricey but reusable. pex comes in 100 foot rolls to avoid fittings in walls. doesn't look as nice as copper but all homebuilders use it. I bought the stainless steel type of crimper, there is a copper crimper also (different crimp type). check housing code, some states don't allow homeowner to do their own plumbing.

If I buy a few 10 foot sections could you cut them in half?

I know sometimes the staff will cut lumber in half if I need it, so it will fit in my car. Is there any way to have 4 pvc sections cut in half (5 feet each) ?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes it can be cut in half, but the staff does not cut them for you. They do have a station of some sort set up where you can use the special pipe cutter that is design to cut PVC pipe to any length you need. The pipe cutter is real easy to use and it only take a few seconds to do. It cut your wait time down waiting on customer service representative to come by to help. They also sell those cutter in the store. I think no more than $10.00. Just ask any customer service representative where you can find them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great material for the money and easy to work with I set my whole garage up with retractable hose reels for a new air compressor so I had to run pipe from the new compressor to each reel. I was going to do it in copper pipe but went with this pvc pipe instead and saved a ton of time and money compared to what the cooper would have cost and the time it would have taken to solder/sweat all of the joints. Very easy to work with. Just cut to legnth and use the special pcv cement. Not one leak and holds 150psi no problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Home depot sells quality product I got these because I am in a wheelchair and cannot come in person to the store myself. I have someone who picks items up for me but sometimes they come back saying they couldn't find what I'd wanted. So it's much easier for me to do my picking out exactly what I want and not have to worry that the person who does my errands for me will come back empty handed with excuses, lol. This is a God send that allows those of us who are either disabled or don't have time to spend in the store being distracted by all the wonderous things that Home Depot has available, which I always did when I went there in person, lol. I always said it would be all kinds of fun to be stuck in the store when they close and stay there all night long, just looking at all the cool stuff! Oh, anyway, I digress....I had gotten this pvc to use to make a frame to hold up a shoplight fixture so I could grow my vegetable seedlings inside my house for transplanting in the spring. However, I did make the frames and they do work, but I would have used 3/4" diameter instead for more stability.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good quality and right length These were my poles foe the cat proofing with deer barrier and ties. I cut them into 4 pieces, drilled holes in the fence and placed them in the hole ans secured the front with the ties. These were an inexpensive alternative to wood and asthetically they look fine.
