  • Cleaner and easier to handle than black steel pipe
  • Bends around corners eliminating need for additional joints and fittings
  • Use coordinating HOME-FLEX CSST fittings
  • Great for seismic areas - ridged pipe often leaks after even small tremors

What is maximum test psi, max working psi is 5. to what PSI is this type rated for test

Asked by: Brian
Hi Brian----- Most pressure tests are conducted at 15 PSI for 15 minutes and that is fine. Your local code must be followed. In the absence of any local code, The stated test pressure as indicated in our System Design and Installation Manual is 1.5 times the working pressure = 7.5 PSI. Please refer to chapter 6 of our Installation Manual. It is available online at homeflex.com If I can assist you further give me a call 661-257-3923. Ask for Jon.

Can this be used for oxygen?

Asked by: Josh
I asked Google your question. The results were interesting to say the least. The general consensus is ccst is not safe for oxygen due to leaks at the fittings.

Is home-flex compatible with Tracpipe including fittngs?

I have a lot of trac-pipe pipe but few fittings and I need 1/2" pipe. I'm using this on a 2 story houseboat I designed and am building. The home will be moved from time to time and will occasionally be in salt water. Any concerns?
Asked by: pnscar
Hi Pnscar, The CSST and fittings from one manufacturer to another are not interchangeable. Our Home-Flex fittings are not to be used with Tracpipe CSST. Since your installation will be in or near a salt water environment, extra care should be taken to make sure that the protective jacket over the CSST remains in tact. Be sure to repair any abrasions or damage to the jacket using an appropriate self fusing silicone tape. By maintaining the outer jacket of your CSST you will help to ensure maximum longevity of your system. For additional information give me a call. Jon 661-257-3923 8AM - 5PM M-F Pacific Time

What are the proper bonding methods for this product

Asked by: Reed
Hi Reed, You ask a very good and important question. This is one of the reasons why you must be registered with HOME-FLEX prior to performing Installation. Electrical bonding is addressed in section 4.10 of our System Design and Installation Manual. It is very important to protect and direct bond your CSST installation in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70, (NEC) and Canadian Electrical Code CSA-C22.1 (CEC). Here is a link to our website where you will find these requirements: http://homeflex.com/downloads/HOME-FLEX_Bonding_Instructions.pdf. CSSTSAFETY.com is also a good resource for bonding videos and instructions. You must read our entire System Design and Installation Manual and then register at: http://homeflex.com/#becomecertified prior to installing our CSST. If I can assist you further, please give me a call. I am here from 8-5 Pacific Time Zone, M-F. (661) 257-3923. Ask for Jon

1/2 in. x 25 ft. CSST Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 45.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from This is junk don't buy This is one of the worst products to carry gas I've ever seen. I am a Master Plumber of 30 plus years and one of my top mechanics agree, buy any product other then this. A builder bought this junk to save us the leg work for the material for the job.. Between a cheap fiber washer and even cheaper retainer ring this is a disaster waiting to happen. I would have never wasted my time to write a review if I thought this product had any bit of quality.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY! JUNK! This stuff is absolutely terrible, and if you read past the 5 star ratings Home Depot pays people to write, you will see why. The leaks are uncontrollable. This product is completely different from other CSST type tubings, so don't let it steer you away from CSST. The sealing methods used in this product are preposterous and they will not hold. So many other people have said the same thing. The installer/repairer from the gas company (with 25+ years experience) said the same thing, and even he could not get the leaks to stop after recutting and attempting with brand new fittings. I will pull all of this out and demand my money back, and if they refuse, I don't think I will shop at Home Depot anymore. They should not offer this product anymore based on mine and everyone else's experience. It's total junk! Don't buy it!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from TERRIBLE!! This is a TERRIBLE product. Almost half of my joints leaked. Do yourself a favor. Take the training for tracpipe or wardflex or any other csst pipe other than homeflex. The lead ring seal in the fittings is a horrible design flaw. Not nearly as effective as a flared joint made in other csst pipe. Never again for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product and system First you MUST read the online instructions they cover sizing, assembly, routing, securing and bonding. Plus the manufacturer has videos. Very easy to install. After the local Gas company found 23 leaks in the old black pipe system, I redid everything in Home-Flex except the fist 20 ft from the gas meter which I re-doped and re-assembled the original black pipe. As for leaks absolutely none in the Home-Flex - tested at 10 psi for 1 hr with compressed air. Just passed final inspection from the Gas company, purged lines - no leaks - gas is back on. Let me clear up a couple of incorrect reviews - the black O-ring does not seal the fitting - it is there to keep gunk from getting under the jacket - see instructions for using tape if you lose the o-ring. Also replacement brass retainer ring, o-rings and fitting non-metallic gasket are available at HD both online and at stores that carry Home-Flex. A tip that may help you make a leak free connection the first time - I took a metal file to each cut end, removed any burs or uneven cuts before assembly - if you look at the instructions burs are a common reason for a leaky connection. Finally the 1 inch by 3/4 inch manifold in my photo is only available by special order from HD - you won't find it at the stores or on the web site.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! Installed a new gas stove and needed to run a gas line from my garage through the attic and into the kitchen. This tubing made the job so much easier than it would have been had I used black pipe. No joints were required. I simply connected the tubing to my gas supply in the garage and went through the attic and down through the wall to the new gas stove. I attached a shut-off valve at that point, and then connected the gas to my new stove. Piece of cake! I highly recommend!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not in my house I am a master plumber with 15 years experience, this is worst product for the transportation of gas I have come across. I can't believe it was ever approved for sale to anyone. The fact that it uses a fiber washer as the only sealing point is mind boggling. I have used many different brands of CSST for gas and never had a problem, this stuff leaked at every fitting. I ripped it all out and went with a better product.
