The dimensions give a height of 8.4" That can't be right. It must be at least 32" or more.
The width dimension is given at 8.5" Then why is a basin of 14" width needed? My basin
is 10.3" at the bottom . Will it work?

1/3 HP Cast Iron Pedestal Sump Pump is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from 1/3 HP Cast Iron Pedestal Sump Pump The pump style and operation is exactly what I wanted. Home Depot was prompt in filling my order and sending me the pump. Home Depot also helped me get the fittings necessary to connect the pump. I am all set for the rainy season and water in my basement. Thanks Home Depot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great when it works This pump has been great when it works, however I had to buy this pump to replace the exact same pump that failed just after two years. The failed pump had no obvious issues, seems like the motor might have burned out. I certainly think that it should have lasted longer than that. I have friends with the exact same pump and theirs have been working flawlessly for over 4 years. so I decided to replace it with the same model and so far it has worked on the one occasion where we got a real heavy rain recently. They say you should have a backup pump, I didn't and it came back to bite me. Overall though I would still recommend this pump, it did a great job until it failed and the new one seems to be great so far.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very disappointed Had to replace my Wayne sump pump after 20+ years. Decided to stick with Wayne since our old one held up so well. Got it installed and tested, but on the 3rd test it failed and wouldn't turn on again. Our old one was made in USA but the new one was made in China. No longer a quality product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good pump but bad float switch The over all pump design is good and works fine but it has a weakness in the float switch. I have a large basement and I had three Wayne pedestal pumps installed in different corners. All three float switches failed after about five to six years of normal use. They would not shut off but keep running continuously after the water was pumped out. I contacted Wayne to get a replacement float switch and found they were available but the cost was more then half the price of what I initially paid for the pump. This was aggravating especially given the fact they must know that this is a common problem. I will never buy another Wayne sump pump based on the failure rate of the float switch and the high cost to replace the switch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best product and value EVER! A US made product by Wayne Pumps, this pedestal style sump pump works better and more reliably than the two previous submerged sump pumps that I had in the same location. I have properly placed it and anchored it; wired in a protected receptacle; provided a shroud to keep water away from the motor; placed a good check valve inline; now, when the rains come, I sit and listen to it do its job efficiently. I no longer have to worry as with other pumps that just plain gave me much grief. Like hydroelectric or solar power, it is a little extra work on the front end for a much better result over the long term.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent quality. Good investment. So far, this has proven to be an excellent investment. This pump replaces a 1/3HP (other-brand) all-plastic pump that had worn out. I wanted to upgrade a bit to cast iron. The pump installed very easily, and works as advertised. In my case, the pump is handling gray water from a basement kitchen in our church. It pumps against a 12 foot static head, and seems to be functioning well within the advertised performance. I installed it in a new 18" diameter x 22" deep synthetic sump. I used a 1-1/4" conduit strap to anchor the pump stem to a custom pressure treated wood top stabilizer strut that I used to span the top of the sump.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Value I live in an old farmhouse with a wet basement from groundwater, and, with no floor drains, I also need to dispose of used water from the washing machine. I have used one of these pumps for that purpose for many years, and have found them to be very reliable. The sump pump gets quite a workout, and has to be replaced every four or five years, but, for the price, and the job it does, this pump is an excellent value. I have had two problems; First, the new pump only comes with one rubber stop for the float; I simply take one from the old pump, but I'm not sure what first-time users would do. Second, I did have a pump in which the starter switch broke. I went to the company's web site, found the replacement part, and attempted to get a new one. I never could get any response from the company. However, these pumps have proved to be more than adequate for the price.
