Answer:
Yes you can. The pump is perfectly suited & designed for this very purpose. You could save some money and use the sister pump. Superior model 91250. It is the same pump less the switch - which is not needed for this type of project.

Yes, this is a great pump for doing just that. Hook the hose to it, set it in the pool and plug it in.

Pumping rainwater from an IBC tote rain tank.

With various IBC tote rain tanks around my property, can I pump through a 3/4 inch garden hose in one case ~60 feet to my drip irrigation pump using your pump? The top opening of IBC totes is 5 1/2 inches. Trying to mimic a floating pickup...can I suspend your pump from an inflatable float within the tank to keep the pump perhaps it's length below the surface for a clear water pickup. Also, can your pump be on an up to 60' extension cord so as to turn it on when my drip pump comes on. I could rewire with romex if necessary. Thank you

The diameter of this pump is a thin hair under 6 inches. So If the maximum diameter of the opening is 5 1/2" you won't be able to install the pump into the tank. It will fit into a 6" opening. No problem with the 60ft of 3/4" garden hose especially if the sending water level is approximately the same as the receiving water level. If the receiving tank is elevated above the sending tank, you will lose output. refer to the performance chart for that information. I will attachéd one.
Also no problem using an extension cord as long as it is minimum of 14ga. 12ga. would be ideal. Since it sounds like this will be outdoors, remember to seal the connections with tape or a shrink sleeve.
And you can suspend the pump. Do not hang it by the power cord. Use non corrode cable or rope tied to the handle. Hope this helps.

Answer:
Hi Jim,
First, the pump is going to be working hard pumping through 60' of garden hose. Depending on how much height above the pump it has to push water up, you may only see 8-12 gallons per minute at the end. It is not recommended to use an extension cord longer than 25', HOWEVER if you were to use a 14 or 12 gauge extension cord you should be ok using a 50' cord.
Thanks

Answer:
Hi there,
The pump itself will only develop 10.8psi. If you restrict the flow using by using a valve of some type this will create back pressure, the motor will work harder and this can cause overheating
We do not recommend restricting the flow by more than half.
Thanks

Without knowing the specific application I can only say generally to build and maintain something like 25 PSI it sounds like you need a pump with a closed impeller. More along the lines of an irrigation, jet, or sprinkler pump.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great purchase This pump is terrific. The cover of my pool was filled with water from all the snow and rain. I put this pump in and within an hour all the water was gone. Unbelieveable. Great pump. Very satisfied. April 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sump pump that was very efficient. I had to partially drain a 20,000 gallon swimming pool before a deep freeze set in and needed the sump pump to work quickly, and did it ever do so. I since had to use it again and once again it did not let me down. You"ll need a hose adaptor sold at Home Depot for a few dollars but all in all the product is quiet, easily installed and very efficient. February 25, 2015
