The first one of these I bought was falling apart straight out of the box. Two of the screws holding the cable drum to the drill had stripped the plastic they were meant to be embedded in. I returned it and got a replacement. Oh, how i wish i had just got my money back. This one worked long enough to get the cable in as far as it would go. You can tell because the cable becomes unattached from the unit. Trying to replace the cable involves trying to bend the tip of the cable into an acceptable degree. The very loud and quite frankly very scary banging noises from inside the drum made mem go and put on safety goggles When I tried to withdraw it it the circuit breaker cut out. I reset the circuit breaker over and over again until the circuit breaker stopped working. I repeated this process until I had blown 4 breakers. The cable would not come out. I tried forward, reverse, nothing made a difference. Now it seems I will have to bring in an electrician to fix my circuit breakers and also a plumber to figure out how to remove the cable from the drain. At the moment I can't even return this piece of excrement as I can't remove it from my drain. I don't normally post product reviews but I felt I had a moral duty to share my experience with you. Buy this product at your peril!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Rich Saved my Easter weekend.
Read the directions before you use the unit. Run the unit before use and adjust the speed to your liking. Don't force this unit and go slow, it works very well and will save you time and money, if you really learn how to use correctly. It's not that hard and I'm happy with my purchase.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by HappyHomeowner Great tool. Cleared a stubborn clog in minutes
Definitely read the instructions and other reviews. You never run the tool in reverse unless the snake gets stuck in the clog. That's counterintuitive. But apparently the snake can get kinked and break if u use it improperly. I went slow. Used the motor to work the snake past bends in the pipe. You feed the snake by hand when its gotten past a bend. The when u get to the clog the motor really helps chew it up and clear it.

My kitchen sink clogs, again! I went to Angies list tried to get a reliable plumber. He was busy and I had to wait a week (of course expensive too). I saw this equipment from my previous plumber and thought I should have one for my situation.
It is easy to use, and worked to my clog. I don't worry my kitchen clog anymore.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by HandierThanMyDadWas Say goobye to your hand-cranked rooter
This thing is powerful and it gets the job done. I originally thought the price was a bit high, but compared to what it costs to have a plumber come out, it pays for itself pretty quickly. The thing is sturdy and it is much easier to use and maintain than my old hand-cranked rooter. I should have bought this a lot sooner.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by paulg Pretty simple machine
I was kinda surprised that it didnt last that long before the cable broke. Be careful when you reel the cable in back and forth. It kinks inside the drum pretty easily. Overall it will do the job so Im not too disappointed. I did have to buy another cable. But I know now what to do and what not to do. Hope this cable lasts a bit longer. Great price for what your getting.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by DC2262 It didn't meet my needs
The first snake line broke on my first use, and it had rust on it when I removed the cover. I bought a replacement snake, but was not able to reach the clog. Now the second snake has kinks in it. My job is probably too big for this tool, though I do think it is well made. I should have gone with the $275 model that has 50 feel of cable.
