Answer:
This unit normally mounts from the top,(under a cupboard) so there is no reason you could not mount it under a cabinet, just be sure you are able to meet the guidelines in the instructions for clearances.

Answer:
That would be difficult. There are two large bolts on the topside of the oven that are threaded through whatever is on top of it (usually a cabinet). Therefore, the bolts would stick out on top of the counter.

Hello MarkFLL!
Since this is "over the range" microwave, you could mount it under your cabinets but you would have the wiring going into your cabinets above it.

Answer:
Be careful with the microwave oven. We had 3 of them burn out at our rental properties. The digital display portion got fried on all three.
We've had better luck with the Amana and Samsung models (replaced the Magic Chef's that burned out).

Magic Chef. We've had bad luck with these. We had 3 of them burn out after only a couple years of service.
We replaced them with one Amana and two Samsung units. All three are working well and we've had them for about 4-5 years.

Rated 3.1 out of 5 by 35 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by OK for what I paid I replaced a more expensive brand and model with this Magic Chef; I think now I should have paid the extra money. The first one of these Magic Chefs I put in didn't work at all, but Home Depot promptly replaced it the next morning (though I still had to pay a handyman to put the original in. The plate that holds up the microwave proved difficult to install. None of the holes in the plate matched the beams behind the wall--we had to drill a new hole in the plate.). The door closure seems tinny, and I have the uneasy feeling that the microwaves aren't completely blocked (probably because the door seems tinny). I have no problem with the button options (don't need a lot of fancy options); however, in my other model, I was able to use the timer and the "add a minute" and other program buttons at the same time--not so here. Otherwise, it's adequate for a very basic model. I'll replace it with a better model next time. December 11, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DOA - Do not buy! I bought this microwave on Black Friday special. I am remodeling a home and thought it was a great buy at $138! Two weeks later, I take it out of the box and it powers up but does NOT heat! I read through all the documentation to see if there was something I could troubleshoot. Then I called Magic Chef, they said that it was "probably just defective" and they could not give me any troubleshooting instructions. So then I call Home Depot to see if they have any in stock so that I can exchange. NO Home Depot within 200 miles of me has one in stock...guess there will be a lot of others that have similar problems...DON'T BUY MAGIC CHEF! December 5, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Price, horrible fan feature For the price, this microwave is a good buy. It looks nice, it's easy to operate, and so far (we've had it for appox 2 months) it cooks evenly. My biggest complaint with this unit is that the exhaust fans runs the ENTIRE time the unit is used. I honestly thought it was a defect and checked with a tech at Magic Chef thinking that I was going to have to put in a warranty service request. The tech assured me that this is a "feature" of this particular model. This, Magic Chef, is not a feature that ANYone would desire in an appliance. The fan is quite loud and seems to run on it's high setting....even more annoying. That said, it's an annoyance I guess I'm stuck with until I'm ready to dish out more money to buy a replacement. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by It'll due for $138 After we installed and took off the protective sticky tape off the stainless steel front, there were numerous scratches and a dent in the middle of the vent. We have to drag it back for an exchange and hope the next one is better. The steel front doesn't wipe clean; kinda always looks smudgy. Warmed up some food and the low setting of the exhaust fan automatically goes on and can't be turned off - and its super loud. Another poor design is that the light is placed at the rear which does a good job of lighting the wall and not the stove. Since I rarely use the micro, it'll due for $138 to fill the cabinet space. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great for the price. Looks great. Not a lot of features, but that's a blessing. And you can easily fix your bubbling touch panel. This is a good-looking stainless-steel microwave at a great price. It's not loaded with features like sensor cooking and bar code readers. That's just fine with me. I don't want those things. I've had one for two years, and it's worked fine. No problems at all. A note to folks who complain that the clear plastic on the touch panel is bubbling... You're supposed to peel it off. The plastic film is not intended to be permanent. It's a protective film that was applied to the touch panel to protect it during shipping and installation. This protective film is so well installed that you didn't even realize that it's there. Now after months of use and heat and steam, it's starting to peel off on its own. Good! Give it a tug and peel it off, exposing the perfect, clean, shiny touch panel underneath. Problem solved. December 4, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by So far so good - especially for the price! Had this Microwave installed a few weeks ago. It is not a high end Microwave however, a good replacement for older less efficient over the range ovens. It has a nice finish and seems to be built well. This is a no frills model and does what its supposed to do. December 30, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Damaged Can't rate this product since it arrived damaged. I could not order another one as they were no longer available for order. December 30, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by SS Over the Range Microwave The unit is a little loud when running. So far it appears to be a good unit. Installation is easy if you have the right tools. December 10, 2014
