Answer:
No, this box will not work for your application. Instead, we suggest you use old work boxes B120R or E-18-4-DVR.

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Electrical Box for 2 x 3 Lumber My house was built in the mid 1970s, and some of the wall framing lumber in the basement is 2x3 (not 2x4). I wanted to find a modern electrical box that fits within the smaller 2x3 lumber, yet still has enough room for wires. This box fits and has plenty of room for 1 or 2 circuits. Just make sure you install at least 1/2" thick drywall as the final wall covering...so the box doesn't stand proud of the final wall. And make sure to install an insulated staple to secure your wires within 12" of the box, because this is a new work box...so it has knock-outs...not the integrated clamps. December 16, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Bends too much Easy to install but after installation, it bent backward about 1/2" when I plugged in something. The plastic returned to its shape after I finshed pushing. I did install it flush against the stud, and secured it firmly with screws, but I will have to block around it or secure it some other way before putting up the drywall. August 6, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by OK I purchased this product but I haven't use it. I didn't need it for the project I was working on February 1, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by These boxes fit my needs perfectly. The above elect. boxes were exactly what I needed to replace 2 elect. boxes for the light fixtures in 2 different bathrooms. January 31, 2012
