Customer Questions & Answers

Under what conditions would this item (007M1-QT double check valve assembly) be preferable to a pressure vacuum breaker (e.g. Model 800M4-QT)?

Assuming either one is acceptable under local regulations, how would I choose between them?
Asked by: BCautious
This valve would be preferable in installations where it is not possible to install the backflow at least 12” above the highest point of downstream piping.

Do you have any listing information associated with this valve, a list of agency approvals?

Per the County of Los Angeles title 17 a back flow device must be approved through USC. "Those seeking to acquire a copy of a current list of approved backflow prevention assemblies should contact USC Foundation for Cross-Connection Control and Hydraulic Research." Is this valve on that list? Thank You, Daryl Schay
Asked by: 71Surfbus
Hi Daryl, Yes, this valve is on the approved list according to the USC FCCCHR. The list, which is public domain, may be downloaded here for future reference:

What this valve be a good valve to install for discharging a water softener to prevent any septic backflow?

Asked by: keels
No this valve is for potable systems, not discharge or waste lines….water softener backflush lines should be routed to drains, with an appropriate air gap to the waste line per local plumbing codes.

Can the backflow preventer be buried?

I have a backflow preventer (required by law where I live) on my sprinkler system. My current unit keeps freezing up in the winter. I would like to replace my existing unit with one I can bury.
Asked by: Anonymous
Hello OSU_EE and thank you for your question. The Watts 1 in. Backflow Preventer Air Admittance Valve (Model # 007M1 QT) cannot be buried underground. The handles may rust (due to weather conditions over time) and the valve cannot be tested in the event of an inspection. Best wishes on your project.

1 in. Backflow Preventer Air Admittance Valve is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Watts 1 inch back flow preventer Installed device with no issues related to the device. Output connector, PVC, has a slight drip that needs to be corrected and still awaiting certification before calling all good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This was a great replacement I was satisfied with the product, but one thing that bothered me was after installation I turned on the water pressure and saw that water was purging out of the center valve. I saw that there was a screw on the side of the valve (the one with water purging) and turned it halfway with a screwdriver. After turning on the water pressure I saw that there was no more water shooting closed!!
