Product Overview

This residential and light commercial grade in-line valve replaces Rain Bird and other irrigation valves installed below ground with 1 inch female threaded inlet and outlet. It can be used with any 24 volt AC irrigation timer. Its unique reverse-flow design helps prevent flooding in the event of internal diaphragm failure, keeping the valve closed and saving water. This valve can be applied with all types of watering devices including Rain Bird spray heads (1800, 600), and rotors (22SA, 32SA, 42SA+, 52SA, LG3 and AG5). Use in-line valves in locations where the use of a pressure vacuum breaker (PVB) or a double-check valve is required by code to protect against backflow. Check your local codes to determine what type of valve is required. After installation and before startup, always the flush system of dirt and debris manually using the valve's external bleed screw.

Yes but it has to be replaced as a complete unit, you cannot take parts from this to fix the other valve.

Asked by: ralph
I don't believe so. The top and bottom are made to fit precisely together as one unit. It takes less than 20 minutes to cut out old one and replace it with this one for worry free use for years to come. I have replaced all mine my self I am a IT tech by trade and it was real easy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rain Bird valve is better than Orbit valve There have been 4 zones using Rain Bird valves which were installed in my front more than year 20 years ago, 9 zones using Orbit valves which were installed in my back yard 7 years ago. Last year, I was out of town for 2 weeks. When back home, one of sprinkler in the back yard was on. It could not be turned of by any means except turn of the water source. The water bill that month was $1,800+ including $1,700+ for water only. Because nothing wrong for the Rain Bird valves in the front yard. So I replaced defective Orbit valve with a Rain Bird valve. Few months later, 2nd Orbit valve defected. I had to replace it. Then 3rd Orbit valves defected. I decide to replace all 9 Orbit valves. Done with 7, 2 more to go ( see pictures )

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fairly easy to install. Easy to find repair parts. After 20 years, the original irrigation system in our yard is in need of repairs. I've had three valves die, and since they were brands the landscaper installed, I can't find parts for them easily. I opted to remove the old valve and replace with new RainBird valves. The valves are easy info to install. You just need to remove enough pipe on either side to slip in the new valve and use the appropriate male threaded adapters on each end to adapt to the inflow pipe and outflow pipe. Very easy to wire. Very easy to bleed it to remove air in the line. For the price, this cannot be beat, and I imagine it will be easy to get replacement parts if they are ever needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good economical irrigation valve I purchased 4 of these in line Rain Birds to replace 4 in line Orbit "jar" valves I had originally installed in a valve box. The Orbit valves would continuously leak especially in cold weather, even after I replaced the diaphragms. However these Rain Birds are holding up without a single drip observed yet. They've been in service for about a year now and so far so good. Should have bought Rain Bird valves in the beginning. This would have saved me from having to double my work effort. Learn from me, stay away from Orbit valves and stick with Rain Bird.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good product that wears out fast. I have three valves side by side as a part of my irrigation system. I have had to replace all three each year because they start to leak around the seal. I have tried replacing only the diaphragm but each time I have tried it still leaks. Then I have wasted the money on the diaphragm and still need to replace the valve. I have replaced each valve 2-3 times.
