This style of valve is the easiest to clean out debris or replace working parts in the event of freezing damage or defects.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Theo Housing leaks, Don't waste your time and money
Bought Three of these and within a month they all started leaking. I originally thought it was my fittings or solenoid but after closely inspecting it found that the housing was leaking. I know they are cheap and you want to save money but believe me its not worth it. You'll end up having to dig up the old and replace with a better valve. Also don't buy the $1 sprinkler heads because the top blows off of them(had to dig up all the old ones and replace as well). DON'T GO CHEAP you'll regret it.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Fisherman Product simply does not do the job on low pressure/volume systems
Bought 8 valves for upgrading an old system and have had nothing but problems. The valve heads leak and require constant service if you have any kind of dirty water. The valves regularly do not shut off so you end up with multiple circuits trying to run at the same time.
Requires constant attention on my low pressure, low volume irrigation system.
You get what you pay for...

If you use enough teflon tape, there should not be a problem installing/removing the pipe (i.e. no ratcheting).
These sprinkler valves require pressure to seal. The water pressure on top of the diaphragm forces it against the water outlet.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by niccon Beware, it leaks even without pressure
I bought 3pcs of these valve and they all leaked straight out of the box. I poured water into the 1" inlet port and the leak came from the diaphragm sealing pass out from the outlet end. That was without pressure, just pure gravity flow.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Gadget Great for t-shirt launchers
Used this for a t-shirt launcher. Worked great. Only down side is the voltage rating. Would have been nice to work at 12V or 9V but hey, its a sprinkler valve lol. Note this will work on 24 AC or DC.

Installed four of these and they all worked like a charm. Just drained them during the winter and they started up without any problems next spring. Sold that house and am buying 3 more for our new house
